ZOS: Can you remove stealable items around Guild Traders?

Honestly, this is a nuisance. When you try to interact with a guild trader surrounded by toons, you often double click these random stealable items surrounding the guild vendor and steal. Paying less than 100 g is not an issue. When you are in hurry, this is really annoying. Put stealable carrots and mugs all around NPC merchants for RPG. Please, just remove em around the guild traders.

Seems like a really low grade piece of game design that doesn’t benefit anyone. Same with the stealable items in the crafting delivery spaces. Is the idea that designers think it’s funny to inconvenience players? Or is there a practical gameplay rationale for this?

Meanwhile no effort is spent filling the many empty containers in delves, dungeons and trials up and down the land.

I once had an NPC jostle me as he walked through me just as I was about to click in the writ turn-in box. Instead I stole something. That right there is entrapment.

Enough people accidentally steal around writ drop-offs that the Lazy Writ Crafter addon added a prevent-accidental-stealing feature.

Can we just have an option similar to the "Cannot kill Innocents" option to not beable to interact with any objects which can be stolen?

I think this ^^^. It’s ridiculous and I’ve always assumed some Dev thought it would be funny to irritate their Company’s customers. Pretty juvenile to me. No intelligent reason to do this.

Theoretically there is nothing wrong with leaving stealable valuables around. BUT obviously no one on the design team played the game enough to realize just how prone to accidents it can be and how irritating that can be.

And then once the game launched -- to not recognize player feedback when they are trying to tell you about play patterns. And to have AddOns basically patch the game for you... SMH

And of course, Console gets left behind because they have no AddOns.

Can we get an option to prevent occasional stealing? Like in KCD for example, when player needs to hold a button for a while to steal an item?

No way. Accidentally stealing items is a traditional Elder Scrolls feature.

Or make them unstealable statics that can't be interacted with at all. I used to do this in my Morrowind Goth Shop mods - so I could have the goods scattered around to be viewed, they were all static.

If you are on PC there is a great mod "No Accidental Stealing" which does what it says on the tin for Traders and for the Writ hand-in area too

    Nope, only for attacking innocents.

You need an addon for accidental stealing prevention.

Funny how the notion of ‘tradition’ is used to justify a whole range of morally and practically repugnant things.

Like physical violence as a teaching aid...

I’m not sure it works any better as an excuse for poor game design.

I could begin to see the point if the stealable items were remotely valuable or there was an achievement for ‘being so fat fingered you stole 150 items while attempting to use the guild merchant’.... but to leave them lying around is just the developers mocking their players and that’s not a nice look.

This is a deliberate design to make law abiding citizens of Tamriel experience the justice system every now and than;) Seriously though, possibly to make crafting bots harder to create:-)

That was my sarcasm, otherwise I just once stole things when I realized that's only way I can get house motif pages.

Time honored tradition is innocent players accidentally picking up things and getting chased by guards.

NO, honestly it adds color to the game. Leave it as is!

It is not hard to avoid, slow down and stop trying to face-roll through your selections, LMAO it really is a L2P issue.

Reminded me of my stealing motif days, I was in one of those plaza or something in vivec city, I pickpocket someone, guards were on me, I jumped in fountain and realized if I stand in middle, he can't get me. So I tried to use some emoticon to make fun of him and he one shot me.

Actually not a bad idea at all.
If this passes, some poor soul at ZOs will need to sit, and click all those merchant points around the world and flag items non-lootable lol :#

Yeah, but I don't like that, because I like to check in containers first, to see if it's worth stealthing.
