We need Alchemy Trees!

If you are lucky enough you will run across one of these with a ton of mats hanging from the branches like candy for the taking. There could be tons of actual spawn points but actual spawns of the tree made extremely rare so bots can't take advantage of them and also finding one would be a treat.

    I think that would be a little goofy for mushrooms, but I guess you're just referring to plants. Even so, that would seem odd to have a tree full of cornflower. I could see an oversized version of the plants, which would yield more.

    But, we already have alchemy surveys, which does require you to do alchemy writs, but they're a great source of extra reagents. Not to mention that there are the alchemy bags you can purchase with Tel Var, and the plants you can get from the first choice with Remains Silent.

    I guess if they were extremely rare, but then bots can still take advantage of them if they spawn along their route.

    Bulk alchemy drops already exist in the game ... such as the rare random alchemy satchel in the Cyrodiil Daily or buying the alchemy bags from the Tel Var vendor in Imperial City.

    I don’t think we need another overland source since plants can be found all over.

    I wouldn't mind seeing the addition of seeds to the game.
    Overland nodes could have a chance of dropping a seed which you could then plant in a garden plot at your home to grow your own.

    That would be a neat idea, and I know many have requested the ability to grow/harvest plants in their home.

    I think it would need to be limited to only one plant of each type available in only one of your homes. So, perhaps a special bed is needed to plant them in, which is a special collectible that can only be placed in one home. It would also be limited to say 6 or so plants, and only one of each plant. Then, you could harvest 1 each day after a period of a week's growth, with a cooldown of a couple days to regrow. Or some similar limitations, as growing plants in your home to harvest could be OP if not restricted properly.

    Agreed. I would like to see it as more of a side experience too instead of a primary way to get mats.

    Agreed on not needing more resources, more of a game enhancement just for adding to the immersiveness. My thought is make them extremely rare. If you do happen to come across one it would be like finding a golden unicorn in real life. Hurrying to harvest it as soon as possible before others join in.

    I've chimed in on gardening threads as one who would like to see it added to the game. My thought was the seeds would not grow the items you can already get by collecting. Instead they would be for special items or furnishings.

    Guild Wars 2 does this pretty simply, you can purchase a harvest node for your home instance (some for in-game currency, others for cash shop currency) and once a day you get a slightly better than normal harvest from them (per account) When new events come around or new zones with another material get added you can usually buy the new node. It doesn't replace farming for mats, but makes it a nice bonus. The other cool thing that organically sprang up was that other players would stand outside of their home and invite people into it to harvest all their nodes. Tips were welcomed but not required and it turned it into a cool little side thing.

    For eso, they could make each bed cost something like 10-20 vouchers each and put them into the special collectible category. Each bed could only hold one material (and I say any material so as to include ore/wood/clothing/enchanting) and once a day you can harvest them and they could yield the same amount as a single survey node (account wide so no benefit to people who have a ton of characters)

    I'm very much in support of anything that provides more utility for housing.

    This idea is a lot more palatable than the one proposed by the OP, @MrGhosty ... thanks for suggesting it.

    It doesn't oversaturate overland (the easiest content in the game) with more alchemy mats.

    At the same time, it gives players that enjoy housing a new toy to test run.

    I thought this thread would suggest that it would be a good idea to have more diversity (different skill trees) in the Alchemy skill line: So one could make more specialised poisons or potions.
    And so the Elder Scrolls foretold.You will be shy, and I will be bold.

    It would be fantastic to be able to use a spot in your player home somewhere to plant seeds for alchemy reagents. For the inn rooms it could be a window box with 3 or 4 planting spots and you could choose what to grow. For the houses with yards it could be a kit to convert a plot of ground to the same number of growing spots - 3 or 4. Unfortunately it would have to be very limited so bots couldn't be dedicated to growing seeds in player homes. Or it could be as simple as letting you grow as much as you want, but all things grown by you in your home are bound or even character bound. Then bots can't be growing stuff to sell. They could even go so far as to make any potions or food/drinks made with bound ingredients also bound so that bots couldn't take advantage that way either. Crappy people unfortunately make it necessary to have restrictions that shouldn't be necessary.

    I wouldn't say no to a gardening plot or even a little crab apple tree to plant in my house garden, like up at Autumn's Gate or something. Harvest it once a day for a couple of apples for instance.
