That's because Impulse is ridiculously OP as far as AoE skills go. It along the bow are either gonna get nerfed or the other skills need to be buffed up to par.

Impulse if a perfectly fine AOE skill.
Getting tired of nerf-this-nerf-that players who know nothing.

Impulse is the only good skill on the destruction staff line. Until then, destruction staff is pretty poor. There have been a lot of good comments made around the forum about how to change this, so I wont make them again.

Impulse, Weakness to Elements, Crushing Shock, Elemental Blockade are all nice picks.

Impulse, of course, stands well on its own. Weakness to Elements is, of course, a support spell that's fairly good depending on how well your opponents are armored.

Crushing Shock requires you to have exceptional awareness and its damage output isn't bad (at v2 it can reach near 400 DPS where Crystal Frag is around 600+) considering it can also interrupt on demand. I'd place it in a proc based build, or well, use it as an interrupt/suppression.

Elemental Blockade is especially nice as a sorcerer since it offers more chances of proccing disintegrate, often ends up setting things off balance. Basically, it has great side effects while adding to proc chance.

So, overall, I would say destruction staff is pretty decent and can fit a few builds. The only class I have trouble really placing is templar outside of the eclipse/impulse.

You have to try and think and theory craft it around just to try and make it worth it for builds, meanwhile bow is just plain useful for most builds without trying to pick it apart and comes loaded with CC and the same single target interrupt WITH a guaranteed DOT.
    Some questions answer themselves:
So what is the problem with building specifically against an oil farm????

    oil farm????

If it is competitive and offers a unique game play style it's perfectly fine. Just because you have no grasp of it and it took me a bit of trying to figure out the possibilities does not mean the skill line is not worth it (using your own terminology). Chalk it up to just differences in play style and interest, though in your case it may be simple laziness -- after all, you went and reached blindly for cons while I actually spent a few hours running through various possibilities (and spent 26k+ on respeccing costs).

I forget are you arguing for or against me, because I would swear you just told me you had to spend 26k respeccing and hours running through possibilities to make it worth it.

Wheras bow is just plain worth it out of the box with countless builds. That in itself is a pretty strong argument something is wrong lol.

You suffer from reading comprehension issues as usual, would've thought leaving beta would somehow increase your capacity to analyze things; because I generally gravitate towards a specific style it makes it difficult for me to find value in everything else while others may figure it out quickly because it is their play style or you could read it directly and say that its value is there, despite being more subtle, matches everything else.

You are a prime example of the case I just mentioned; when we were 'discussing' pet builds you lashed out at me saying my build wasn't a pet build because that's not what you were looking for despite it fitting the criteria and matching the damage specifications. A player who is agnostic would have found out that destruction staves are competitive much sooner than you or I precisely because we aren't agnostic which also points to the fact that there is something very wrong with your own mentality in being unable to come out with ANY builds with the destro staff.

Also, it should be pretty obvious that I was trying to find builds that weren't reliant on impulse or used other skills effectively. The current meta is about abusing impulse which means bows are next to worthless in the grand scheme of things.
