Low Gpu usage ?

ymn_ars

While playing the game im running Gpu-z and it shows my Gpu usage is like %20-30 while playing the game and my fps is not that great its 40-50. Why my gpu doesnt use its full capacity? ( gpu = hd 6850 1gb 256bit / cpu = amd fx 6100 3.8 ghz oc )

    That load is strange, although I'm not familiar with the 6000 series cards. 40-50 fps with that card, depending on the settings, I'm assuming high, is as much as I'd expect at best from it though, so I don't think the reported load is an accurate factor of performance in this situation. Running a R9 270X 2gb here, GPU-Z is reporting around 80% load on ultra settings.

    Either games games not optimized, which it isn't, but I'm starting to think that it's not using multicore efficiently, or at all, I haven't checked. I might overclock my CPU and see a difference, but I need buy a new case to put in an aftermarket cooler. If the CPU isn't being used up properly then not enough data is being sent to the GPU fast enough to be rendered so therefore it's a bottleneck. Hopefully this can be fixed with an update.

    yeah i've checked couple of times again now i can see %70 80 usage but why not %100 and my cpu usage %25 30 while playing i dont think i have problem with my setup but something wrong i guess

    70-80% is what it should be running at, 100% would cause issues. 25-30% CPU load just proves there isn't a bottleneck. I think you're expecting too much from your gfx card. Maybe it's time for an upgrade..?

    I use a GTX 770, and an i5 2500k OCed to 4 ghz. My load on both cpu and gpu are about 50% of the time. I get 30-40 fps in Daggerfall, and 50-60 in the wild. (On max settings). I feel like the game should be using hardware better.

    HD7950 here, with all settings set to highest, im looking at 65% usage. Something is up with this game

    I'm having the exact same issue with the exact same hardware. Just wait until you decide to PvP, you'll have to put the view distance on 0% to climb past 40 fps. Not really acceptable.

    It's well established over hundreds of forum posts that something is seriously wrong with the game for certain users, and I wish people would stop deflecting blame from the game because they're experience has been perfect.

    Check out this thread on Tamriel Foundry which confirms that the game is currently CPU bound generally;
    Once you have a video card capable of rendering a graphical quality at an acceptable framerate (40+ fps). The remainder of your framerate will be determined by the power/quality of your CPU. Eso is heavily CPU bottlnecked once you have an acceptable video card especially in PvP.

    If it's not utilising all cores, which I doubt it would, most games take advantage of 2 cores, it will only show 50% used

    So why does the task manager performance monitor show about 50% use of all 4 cores? I'm no programmer but is it possible that there is a single thread for the game that is restricting the rest of the games threads?

    One designed to ensure that all the threads work in proper timing?

    I hope there is something, from another thread i thought id try to force my gpu to work harder by creating a custom res in control panel (2k) which would then be downscaled to my native res (1080p) by my GPU to see if i could get its usage higher, here are my results from an afterburner sshot. quite clearly the game is not optmised at all, not much of any of my cpu or gpu resources being usedm and this is in cyrodill. lets hope the the gods they are trying to do something

    system is an i7 920 @‌ 4ghz
    12GB ram

    I don't know I never done any checks, just checked the task manager for first time with this game and yeah all cores are being utilised, but since then I have read a post that it could be a problem server side.
