PvP is my favorite facet of this game.

What you are advocating for however, is just griefing of those who dont play ESO for that. It is a bad idea, imo, and it would hurt the longevity of the game immensely. Just short sighted in the extreme tbh.

And here I thought you were going to suggest such things as having massive temporary anchors drop in the middle of towns with world boss level (and higher) daedra swarming all over and the player base would have to work together to purge the towns of them.

Alas, that was not the case...

If folks want game world persistant pvp, what we need is a Darktide like server that allows for pvp in the entire gsme world, but only people who voluntarily choose to play there on that server would be affected obviously.

If people know what they are getting into, it would create some interesting dynamics, as there are TONs of places with valued resources to compete over. Far too many for any one guild to monopolize, which would create dynamic political alliances etc. All of the things that PvP MMO strive for but rarely achieve when forced to do overland pvp on one simple map.

Shadowbane, as poorly techinically written as it was code wisw, got this right as did the PvP server in Asherons Call, imo.

    Big, giant NOPE from me.

However, fair's fair. If there were to be a Purge Day foisted upon PvE world, then there should also be a World Peace Day for one day in Cyrodiil where attacks do nothing. If you want a day to gank PvE players in their world, then we should get a free day to go do skyshards/delves/dolmens/fishing with no fear in Cyrodiil. ;)

Battlegrounds would have to become duels of protest and peace songs-- the winning team belts out the most correct lyrics in five minutes.

Can we meet on common ground? Are our views so far apart... Sing with me!

    Hmm...

So you want to gank people at crafting stations, yes? Get a 'kill' on someone locked in a quest-giver or merchant menu window? You found it too risky to gank in Cyro/BGs/Duel, against us actual PvP players who are geared, experienced, and ready to react?

That's the basis behind this and every other 'Open World PvP' thread: they're started by wannabe PvP players who suck at PvP, so they believe they will get revenge for all the beatings they took by attacking helpless victims, PvErs, and any brand-new-to-the-game players they can find.

Personally, I find threads of this sort pathetic. The pathos lies in the desire to obtain a kill from a position of overwhelming advantage, to be followed by the twisted catharsis of teabagging the helpless victim.

So... #@$& no, [can't think of an appropriately scornful term within TOS]

This whole game is designed around what PvPers want. I would just not log in for that week. Or month. Or maybe ever again.

Can you use my hyperbole and keep the pve double speak going? It’s all pvpers fault, it’s all pvpers fault, all pvpers fault.

    So there are
Around 26 pve maps as in zones
    Around 30 public dungeons
Don’t even want to count how many quests per zone
Thieves guild and dark brotherhood dailies
    Maelstrom Arena
    DSA, Blackrose Prison
25 dungeons with normal or vet mode and some with two vet modes. So maybe 50 in total?
    Eight trials
    Dolmens
    Around six special events

    Mixed: pve/pvp
    Ic and sewers

    PVP
    Cyrodill
    Dueling
    Battle grounds
Three game modes with Four maps
    Mid year mayhem

Please, how is the game centered around pvp when it has so clearly been neglected for a long time. They don’t even compare at all in terms of attention and development. Not in the slightest. Let’s not forget lag and performance problems that have long existed long before the “surge” of new players.

There is a childlike response that comes from part of the community that only view the game from how they want to play and not a drop of effort should be outside of it. If your game play wasn’t what you wanted for a 24 hour period (you do sleep right), you might leave the game? What kind of emotional maturity is that?

Makes sense to me, let the pvers have a day to run quests and pick flowers :)

would rather have a outlaw area where it is just you against all others. then we can see who is king of pvp when you can only heal yourself and a aoe will damage EVERYONE.

sadly in other mmos these areas don't get much use after a few days as pvpers realize one on one is more skillful than group on one.

No thanks. I used to think PVP was awesome. But it, and the team that develops it, wore my spirit down. From the toxic nonsense to BS "balancing" changes affecting PVE, the only "purge" I'd vote for is to remove PVP totally from the game.

This would actually be the only version of 'pve-only cyro' I would approve of.

And yes, the Purge is evidently completely impractical (it would require instacing between people willing to participate and the rest; and given the choice, many PVEers who are more in the grey-area of the decision will probably choose not to just for convenience's sake, ruining the point of mixing the two), BUT it's a super fun idea in theory. Especially if it's in dungeons as well.

Judging by the reactions on this thread I'm guessing classic WoW will remain the only MMO with actual world PvP. Guess everyone has their own tastes.

This is why pvp/pve should be separate and have separate servers. Allow people to make that choice. Instead we get a simulated zone and no reason for anyone to go to that zone outside of pvp.

Could we atleast bring back "buff" servers? Make caltrops/vigor as much of a grind as undaunted? Sometimes I gotta PvE for sets even if I dont like it. But we made spell strategist and all the new rewards of the worthy sets tradeable so it isnt really reciprocal.

I guess it's all an outdated concept to have pvp tied into the progression system and I'm just old fashioned.

Yep, they sure are. All the pvpers who cry because they want pvers to gank. Every "pve Cyrodiil" thread eventually ends up with pvpers admitting they don't want a pve cyrodiil because they would have no one left to gank. Only other players who could give them an actual "fair fight". Which they don't want. [refer to the post about killing the pvers turning in quests at the last event]. Poor pvpers only feel good when they can gank and grief, apparently. And the ardent, passionate pvpers don't understand that some pvers don't really care about getting killed; congrats, you killed me, you da uberest leet evah, now please get out of the way so I can finish this story quest.
