    Another no incoming!
Why? Because the game wasnt thought/developed for that objective.
I think it was never an option and already has too many variables in a very complex computing process.
Many people here say no, not because they wouldnt like flying mounts, but because they feel it would turn the game even more unbalanced (class and performance wise)

@GreenhaloX Some people react with some nasty and salty comments but dont let it affect you.
By the community reaction, your thread was a brainstorming success, having in mind that frequently someone asks about flying mounts.
The majority of no's have an explanation for it 😉 so have fun in Tera with them, but dont let them keep you away from Tamriel because every people counts in our community

Yes, of course you do. You and every other overly enthusiastic wanna-be dragonborn who's playing eso instead of Skyrim. Despite how many complaints there were from Skyrim players about how terrible the controls were, and how that was so NOT how they imagined riding a dragon would be.....

Instead of dragging flying mounts into a game that wasn't built to support it, why not switch to a game where you can be a cowboy and ride dinosaurs equipped with gatling lasers? There's one out there. Its even free to play.

With one exception, I don't think the thread turned out the way the op hoped it would.

I have to add a "no" to this as well. Flying in games is fun but it also negates a large portion of the map. I would like underwater added though.

OOO! Can I be a Cowboy riding a Dinosaur! I can get down with that!

Nah. Just cause [edit] Tera does it, doesnt mean ESO should do it.

I would agree for hovering mounts, but I don't think flying will be a thing at all, not with the way the engine and locations are designed, the scenery wouldn't support it and will require a complete overhaul.

no. That is how WoW eventually got watered down to a "cartoonish" MMO.

    oh bullcrap.
    1. wow was always cartoonish.
    2. flying mounts were introduced during wow's most highly acclaimed expansion and were a selling point of that expansion.
    3. wow travel is horrible nonsense and flying is actualy kinda necessary there, unlike ESO

So go to WoW lol. Elder scrolls is about the first person viewpoints and how you experience/interpret the world+races. You can't do that on the back of a Dragon.

Flying mounts arent a bad thing overall but I dont think they would be right for ESO.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

I would be all for it, but I don't see it ever happening. Though honestly, I would be just as happy to have a mount that didn't vanish each time I passed an ankle deep puddle. Maybe a hovering mount instead of flying?

    Flying mounts?! Nopedynope!

And due to mounted speed needing to be trained upon the creation of a new character, just imagine how stupid it would look flying around without any speed upgrades at all :D

No. No. No. No. No. There. One for each of the next five years. If I'm still around, I'll see you then to provide more.

On a more serious note, as others have said, with the way the world and its wayshrine system and smaller zone size are set up, flying mounts aren't needed, and would in fact be a detriment. Plus, all the flapping and rendering of everyone's ginormous flying mounts, the server would quite possibly melt. So, as stated before, no.

It would be nice, but it's not gonna happen. Sadly they just didn't build this game to handle such a thing. I've still never played in a game with flying mounts, I look forward to the day when someone comes out with one that looks as good as ESO and can also have that without being a center for gold farming.

We can do necromancy and capture souls into some strange powerful gems. but of course the people of skyrim morrowind and etc can't find any way to fly. We can tame spiders and other strange creatures to ride them but we can not tame a flyable gryphon.

I realize not everyone pays a lot of attention to the matter but if OP did they would know Zos has said no to this more in the manner of never.

Indeed, and I remember their reason being along the lines of the engine not having a true z-axis which means it couldn't support flying mounts, even if they wanted to add such things.

That said, they could add an immersive illusion of flying mounts, despite the engine's limitations, but they would be very limited and far from what most people who want such things imagine. They would either be limited to "floating" mounts, that is ones which don't truly fly but just hover (think netches), or would merely be more akin to a portable wayshrine where they never really fly but have an extra mechanic to facilitate fast travel (think griffin mount which walks/runs around and when you trigger its fast travel, you are shown a generic cutscene of it flying up and away). I truly doubt ZOS would add such "lesser" forms of flying mounts such as these examples (unless they calculated fantastic Crown sales and accepted the repercussions it would cause) as it would only open the door wider for even more "begging" threads for full flight.

Please keep in mind, I'm neither saying I do or don't support such things as they would neither interest nor annoy me. Merely saying it isn't possible to have true flying mounts as the engine simply cannot support them.

Yes on both counts but a "hovering" mount is not what OP wants. They prefer a second rate game supposedly because they have flying mounts I would suggest they are not very serious about their gaming if that is the their driving factor.

In Elder Scrolls universe there are no flying mounts. Flying is possible through difficult magic, that probably wasn't discovered in the second age yet.

Also why would they need that when they can teleport around?

The only creature, that strong enough for such thing are the Dragons, and they are not exactly on friendly terms with mortals.

Levitation was almost certainly around in the 2nd era. I don't know if that included flying very high though.

At first, I actually thought OP was referring to the lack of flying horses, in true and amusing Bethesda style :o That after 5 years, the mounts hadn't been bugged enough.

This game is past due to have flying mounts. I've been playing Tera for the past few months, and I have been enjoying that game because it has all kinds of flying mounts; from dragons to flying wolves and cycles. Oh, I'm not here to advertise or market for Tera; nor am I here to say which game is better. However, I have been enjoying the hell out of Tera because of the flying mounts, and being able to fly high above the landscapes and cities.

Zen, Bethesda, whoever the power that may be, go over to the Tera developers and make some friends. Get some flying mounts in ESO already, for goodness sake. I've not been able to return to play ESO. Get some good flying mounts in this game and bring back the champion points cap increase, and I'll come back to this game. It's another mistake to take away the CP cap increase; which is a major part of my enjoyment of this game. Bring the CP cap increase back, and I'll come back to this game. I want to see our toons (or characters to those that are jaded by the term toon) get past CP 1000. Tera's been getting a lot of my money where I should have been spending in ESO. Tis.. tis..

The last time they came out with a mount that wasn't simply a reskin was the Indrik, which cant even stand up straight... on the ground. Flying mounts will never happen in this game.
