What should i do if i cant get into a group? Just follow random people and hope to get some points? I have been having huge issues with this, help is much appriciated.

Yes. Follow the action. Most of the time you don't have to be great (lord knows I'm not), just willing to get in and give it a go. Most people just play the game for fun, so if you're chill, they'll often invite you to their group or guild.

Ok Thanks for the tip. So Just basically going where the action is with a ocasional lfg in chat. If im after AP, are there any more effective ways to get in than capturing keeps?

Towns like Cropsford, Vlastrus and Bruma can also be soloed and you are helping your alliance by capturing a spawn point.

If it's AP you are looking for (to level up your Alliance Ranks and get Vigor ability I presume). The fastest way is to go to siege merchant (at any keep) buy a lot of Wall Repair kits and go around the keeps. Keep walls will loose HP when the keep levels up over time. Then just go around and fix up all the walls - you will gain quite a lot of AP that way AND you will help your alliance by making the keeps harder to tag.
If it's the actual PvP action you are looking for, simply ask in zone chat 'Where is the action'. A lot of people will be able to direct you where the fighting is. Another way is to open the map and look at the crossed swords symbols - they indicate where the battles are going on (the bigger the symbol - the more players are there).
Yet another way is to simply go to the popular spots that are always contested (Chalman - EP vs DC, Alessia - AD vs EP, Aleswell - AD vs DC vs EP).
Towns like Cropsford, Vlastrus and Bruma can also be soloed and you are helping your alliance by capturing a spawn point.
If you wish for extra AP earned, go to any delve in Cyrodiil and kill the bosses - you will receive a buff to AP gained and all of the delves in Cyrodiil have a skyshard in them as well.
On the side note - I find that my game's performance and loading screens are much better when I am not grouped, so there's a benefit to running solo.
Have fun in Cyrodiil

First, I look at the map, and see if there is any cross swords ( fights ) and then go there. If i don't see anything I check to see if any of our home keeps are taken by the enemy. If they are , then there is a good chance your alliance will attempt to take it back in the near future. Zone chat also is a good tool to use to find where the action is.
I also look at resources, if any are taken from the enemy then there is a good chance you get easy AP or find a good fight. If nothing is going on then I travel the the closest keep/outpost near the enemy. Most times the enemy will attack the closest keep. Outposts are usually good places to go for fights. The enemy will attack because they are quick and easy AP sometimes.
If I can't find any action and the population is low then I might travel to my quest campaign to see if any good fights are going on. Or, I will go to battle grounds for some good fights.
If you really want to fight, just flag a keep. Someone will show up to defend it, and sometimes your alliance will see it flagged then come help.

All solid tips. As for taking over mines and the lesser resources, can they be done with smaller groups of say 5 players?
