Is there a limit to how many people you can ignore?

Confirming that the Ignore list only has room for 100.

If you play on PC you have a few additional options:

The Mute List addon acts like an extension without any limits. Be aware that it only stops anything they might say from chat, whispers and mail I think, and nothing else. The game's Ignore list does all that, but also ensures they can never be selected to join you for group events like Daily Randoms. So if using both, save the Ignores for horrid pugs.
If concerned that you might ever fill that 100, plan ahead and use the Notes feature of the Ignore list. Simply adding a date each was added would give you a better idea of which ones are older and likely not playing anymore.
Use your Chat Tabs to advantage. Each time you change zones, it defaults back to your original ("Chat") tab; so unselect all channels you don't want to be bothered with there and make a new tab for them. Just peek over to the other tab any time you need to.

I didn't know you can add notes to ppl on your ignore list. Just like those in guild rosters?
Good way to keep track of the actual reasons for ignoring them (rage whispers/ racism in zone/ WTS spam/ ...).

Ahhhhh,, the Good Old Days, back at Release, when we all filled up our ignore lists within the first week by ignoring the Gold Sellers (also back when an account getting deleted didn't remove it from your ignore list).

One guy on it send me a hatewisper, was actually very funny. the ignore was more of a "prevent interacting with someone who looses it over a videogame".
3 ~ 5 ppl who wispered me "gg" after i failed to run away when they ganked me, i found that very rude.

the wast majority were ppl (optionally with stupid names) who were trash talking in cyrodiil zonechat plus the ppl flaming back. and the zerg of 2014 goldsellers.

since i discovered offline and zonechatdeactivation, i didnt have a reason to free a slot on my ignorelist for someone new.

Is there an option to hide the chat, or stop it from every popping up? One of the things I liked with PoE is the option to prevent chat from showing.

For the most part ESO chat is fine, but lately (past 2 months) I've seen people arguing over real life (mostly political) issues. Seriously, politics is the last thing I want to be reminded of while playing a game.
Or seeing awful PvP'ers (I am not saying PvP players in general, but the truly bad ones) who brag in zone chat about killing those who have 0 interest in pvp.

Ignore is not for champions. Champions retaliate and win. You want show you are better than hate whisperer? How about you trash talk them until they go ignore you / log off?

The people I put on ignore are all people who have been butt hurt about losing and decided to whisper their emotional feelings to me.

Life’s too short to worry about someone else’s negative energy. Putting them on ignore is the sanest choice.

I only worry about this in Cyrodiil. I am on an xbox one, NA server. I have to go to their gamertag, choose to mute them, then block them. Cyrodiil text chat for EP is now 99% less toxic

If you play a StamNB which you probably do, that is the trolliest (don't know if that's a word) of classes and can be built to be annoying which you probably have and played to be irritating which you probably do.
The question is why do YOU think you receive so many hate tells?
