Lol we were transporting a scroll last night on Vivec NA riding full speed and then ground textures stopped loading and stuck riding in place watching my team ride away and seeing the enemy thundering up behind and then texture loads and I start riding forward just in time to get steamrolled. Or in the middle of a ground fight, and the Cyrodiil loading screen pops up for 10 seconds, then back in to a death recap.

Makes for a disappointing experience! Other times I can play just fine with 50+ people casting and running and whatnot, dolmen zergs are never a problem, so I know it's not my system.

I think the biggest problem is it being the largest zone in the game, by far. So much time spent just riding! Can't imagine what a grind it must be for new people with low riding speed, or even no mount, lol. Even with Windrunning and max Rapids, it still takes forever to get anywhere. I think they could realistically cut the zone size by 1/2 and reduce the resources that have to be drawn and improve the gameplay at the same time.

Had a phenomenal siege at Chalman, PC EU Sotha. Daggerfall with max siege vs pact max siege vs a small dominion zergball.

After defending the keep some mates got 172k, some got 4k, some 1k and some nothing.

    Can this be true? :o

1k, 4k, nothing for 20 mins of fight?

as i state at my main post or comment, i play mostly pvp... i dont want to play on an empty shor 80% of the time. Everyone plays on vivec, the most alive server of them all. Why would i waste my time to a 7day campaign, to get rewards that have no value? or to be top 50 to a server no one cares about? no point

well they are about to fix that introducing the new stones that u can use to travel with, but personally i dont mind traveling. It relaxes u after some playtime, fights or siege and also can turn out to be an ambush. But for new people throwing them in that huge map with minimal game tips and advice yea... good luck keeping that guy that doesnt know where to go into the game.

Yes but iirc Vivec is the auto pick server for people joining pvp so its bound to get flooded during the event

my complaint is that vivec is like this even on prime time at weekends(every time) even on weekdays...
Having the same issue during the event was the spark to write this post so i will get more attention from people having the same problem. Even before that people have the same issues ,but cause most are regular players and stick to the game either way, they already know that vivec is f*cked; so nobody complains. They think the same way that u do. Why bother with vivec , and not joining shor?
Why do i have to go by their way? They now that vivec will be kinda playable again now that playercount is having a downfall(at least 5k players regarding only steam stats) and servers will be less populated again....I am subbed to this game for many months now (already canceled my sub cause of this) and i want to be able to play even at some point my ONLY game mode that i enjoy. Honestly i have been playing this game for a long time now(over 1k hours) and i dont mind disconnects and similar problems. Its understandable and I am really patient with all of this for so long now.

But when there isnt any progress to find a better solution to their long lasting issues then why should i keep paying for their faulted services?I dont want to use this phrase but i feel dissapointed let down as a customer.Even on last ESO live no one referred to the problems in cyrodill even in forum posts that they mentioned some times for other purposes.

    I don't really PvP ...

Popped into NA Vivec today just to get my AP for the Transmute Crystals, get a PUG group, ride across the map, get to the keep under siege ... DC immediately, log back in, stuck in a load screen, DC again ... log back in, port to the closest keep, stuck in a load screen, DC again ... eventually get back in right as the tick pops, totally miss it.

OK, on to the next fight ... stuck in a load screen porting across the map. Finally get out, ride about halfway to the keep under siege ... it flips, everyone gets the tick, but not me.

About an hour in Vivec so far and zero AP to show for it. I now remember why I don't PvP. Because it sucks.

bro most people here either want to be friendly till death with zos and comfort every single developer to the point that they will support them by insulting other forum members. It disgusts me. Also those kind of posts never get any attention cause of the point i stated at first.Everyone knows the problem but they avoid to confront it and support the complaints untill people are long gone and problems are gone along with the players.

I'm one of those people, who tend to stick up for developers, but not in a case like yours where you're giving constructive criticism - I support that, it only makes their product better. But when people say weird, mean stuff like they don't know how to code, it's just like... really? It's just mean, discouraging, and probably frustrates them when people say things about their competence, or that they don't care. There are two big things that stand out to me in regards to what effected the quality of the game overall; I think they bit off more than they could chew by including so many platforms, and different languages; changing from the sub based model, to the free-to-play after purchase model, which may have made them more frugal about making big changes.

I'm guessing the reason they don't just go out and buy new servers is because the time-frame in which all of this lag occurs makes up too small a portion of the day to warrant new servers - especially if the population is dwindling. You could try and convince them that if they improved cyrodiil the game would attract people, but if they haven't done it yet, either ZOS, or Bethesda have found some reason to postpone the upgrade, or to not do it. They might even be contracted to use a particular set of servers for a specific amount of time. There are lots of things that can make upgrading this stuff really difficult.

Maybe ZOS should just make a pvp server :D

I agree for the most part. Thing is they dont want to improve server performance for the cost of course. They are scared spending money when they dont expect people to stay in this game.
I mean they dropped 5k players only on steam accounts(number should be higher overall) since summerset released. Which means people bought or reinstalled the game to try it and they didnt like it.

So they seem to be happy achieving those numbers they currently have, so theres no need for any upgrade. Just keep pushing out new content to keep regulars happy and income flowing. Pvp doesnt bring in any money, but drives people out of the game. Thats why they try to patch things without an overall change. But if pve people are happy its fine.

The logic im getting is that theres no need for an upgrade cause its a risk, even though they will get the money back. All of those cause the player base is low and can be sustained with low resources. Either way this game could be huge, but execution and perormance feels way too cheap.

One last thought is that cyro lag could be a matter of cp points clustered with that big amount of players. Ther was an effort to fix it by adjusting how server calculates a number of passives when summerset arrived i think, but didnt work at all. So maybe if cp were taken out maybe it could go back to the golden days people talk about. No lag at all in huge fights at early launch days

Not trying to downplay anyone's connection issues or shift any blame, but there are a lot of things between your network connection and the server that can result in a degradation of performance. I spent a LOT of hours in PVP during the recent Mayhem event connected via 7-day Shor, which nearly always at max capacity. Apart from an occasional slow loading screen and stutter in game play, I experience very little in the way of connection issues, and I participated in many huge battles that were simply awesome. The only issue that really got to me was the sprint bug (a matter raised in a different thread).

I know it's frustrating as hell to deal with drop connections and unplayable lag, but I'm not convinced its strictly a matter of ZOS and their servers. My bet there are probably many more who have little in the way of these issues who feel no need to post in the forum about anything.

You just described most peoples' experience with Cyrodiil. I've checked the forums for months and there's SO MANY complaints about server performance, load screens, skill lag and now lately proc sets as well. The megathread for long loading screens in PvP is around 8 months old now, it's still not been resolved. Instead we have new bugs to go with that, like invisible postern walls that other players exploit to get in to keeps. My hubby & I have done what some of our guildies did already and we finally unsubbed from ESO+ as of yesterday. I posted in the forums & replied about some of the issues happening in pvp that are now also happening in pve, since you know maybe they will work on it. But they are "aware of most of the issues and have been working for a fix" (For 8 months now, in the case of loading screens) for most of them, so game performance has been terrible, meanwhile I can go look at the giant crown store ads popping up as I log in, ruining my immersion. I have no issue buying a lot of crowns monthly if only the game works as intended not having me stand there with skills not going off because of the sprint bug or server lag. Frames dropping in trials & home instances, ping spikes, overall lag, things like walls & floors not rendering and consistent steam issues where we can't even log in, is not acceptable. Something has been very borked especially since Summserset, I would rather start playing WoW as they drop the new expansion.

Well, shor should be a more "refreshed" server, cause of the lower number of people queuing.

As far as of connection that could be an issue cause i have checked my network stats through task manager in big/decent fights, download speed is at 1.1mbps-1.5mbps and upload is at 70-80kbps(i might be mistaken about upload). But my connection never gave me any trouble in any game. I even played lots and lots of hours of battlefield 4 and battlefield 1 with constant 64 players and game has been always surprisingly smooth.

I know those player stats dont compare to that of eso but i dont think any online game requires a fiber connection to play online

Thus will not change. The lag has been there for almost as long as the game has existed. Nothing will be done. This is one of many threads made on this topic.

If the game performance sucks, play another game. Do you think that zos can or will fix this? Don't you think they would have already?

When we bring new members into my PvP guild, we have to spend at least a day or two teaching them how to circumvent the various bugs and performance issues with this game. I actually spend my time carefully hypothesizing and then testing potential workarounds for the poor performance of this game. I have created a user guide (only mildly tongue in cheek) for this which is visible on the forums.

If I were one of the people responsible for fixing these issues, and I noticed someone needing to develop a means of circumventing problems associated with my work, I would be DEEPLY ashamed of myself and my work. In fact, I run a lab with a lot of incredibly intricate programs and technology which of course run into technical issues (it's normal), and I have to mitigate the inconvenience to faculty in relation to these technical issues as well as make sure to contact the appropriate people to get these things fixed as quickly as possible. It's my job and it's part of what they pay me for. If I treated the faculty as dismissively as this game does its clientele over technical issues, I'd have been fired AGES ago.
