(Feedback wanted) New Player Guides & Builds

Alcast

I would like to get some feedback on some of my guides that I recently released. The goal of these guides is to introduce the player to the game. Starting up with the New Player Beginner Guide which should teach you the most important things about ESO, this guide is non-class related. Then the class guides follow, so far I have the Magicka Sorcerer Guide and then the follow up Magicka Sorcerer Beginner Build CP 160. Once I gathered enough feedback about those guides and can fully approve them and I will start creating guides for the other classes as well.

So please, if you have any suggestions to improve the guides, be it visually or content wise, do not hesitate to post it here, thanks!

New Player Beginner Guide
This guide is for basic stuff and non class related.

Magicka Sorcerer Beginner Build CP160

Isn't better for them to use harden ward for more protection at lower levels?

You have julanious sloted in 7 spots come summerset ( it's very close now)

    Beginners guide:
    * Maybe put the "Key-Binding" section after "Leveling Rewards". After that part you write about the basics of combat, that´s where "Keybindings" becomes important :).

    * In the section where you write about how to level up some skillines it can be good to add that you need to be in werewolf form when killing things in order to level up that skilline.

    Sorcerer guides:
    * Contains the information that a new player could find useful. Really like the format and the way they´re written.

Also you unlock weapon and crafting skill lines via reading books. Many group dungeons have books to use to level. Especially wgt and vollenfall. Chances are far higger to level something with books in dungeons.

What happened to the site? Unless I already have the site link then there is nothing there except social media. I have been away for a bit for military reasons so I might have missed something.

    Regarding the CP160 build page, only question I have really is;
Both builds use a monster set currently. Since you mention this is a beginner's build that people can use to work towards the more specialized set-ups elsewhere on the website, would it be an idea to provide a viable set-up that doesn't include any monster sets? For someone just starting the grind to CP160, it may be very difficult to get their hands on those (and that may be very discouraging for a new player).

I'm CP600+ and I still haven't really gotten into the dungeons and monster sets.

    Hey, thanks for the feedback.

I could change the second setup. So for example we can use 5x Julianos, 3x Willpower, 4x Spinner? Those should be pretty easy to get.

    And good point, thanks!

It’s great to focus on beginners and not only the endgame. Good work.

Maybe you can also add a sentence about resetting skills to the “Skill Advisor” chapter, because new players are often worried to learn the “wrong skills”.

Very nice and detailed work! I would however suggest flushing out the section on attacks with perhaps a sentence or so on what makes each of those attack types different and useful.

By way of a compliment, after quickly "thumbing my way through" as we used to say, I briefly considered quitting my own guides and just referring to yours (but then my girlfriend pointed out that our styles write for different audiences).

    Good job.

There's also the shrines in Vivec City and in Alinor and you can use any you choose (not alliance-based as your wording implies). You also might say which shrine resets skill points vs attributes in passing.

First of all, it's a great thing you're doing beginner guides: it's something often neglected by the more knowledgeable and reputable players who concentrate on "end-game" builds. The community needs those with expert insight about why some choices are better than others.

I have 4 flex character spots myself that I constantly recycle with disposable characters simply because I enjoy the 1-50 leveling experience with less than a full kit of skills. Yeah I know, it's a very specific and weird type of altitis :)

Since I do it often, I tend to build DPS/Healers because I enjoy leveling through group dungeon content for fun and gear drops and that random queue pops ever so much faster when your healing kit is rounded out enough so that you can heal legitimately.

For that reason my priorities are a bit different than if I were to build solely for DPS. For example, Twilight Matriarch is a must have for me ASAP so I tend to favor stacking Daedric Summoning skills to unlock it faster. For a similar reason I also stack Lightning skills - including Overload as my first ultimate (although I also try to get the atronach quickly since that's a more dungeon friendly fire and forget ultimate) to get at Surge faster.

So I have very little feedback to give you about your ability choices. Yours are good. I just do it differently.

One suggestion though: I usually skip the protective Mundus stones in those first zones and go straight for the +magicka or +stamina stones that are all in the second zone for each Alliance. I do that for any class I'm leveling because I tend to not craft low level gear and just rely on set drops to build up my major stat. That +magicka or +stamina Mundus helps with that as does the blue health + "X" food I use.

Once again, I'm glad you're doing this.
