How do you train your horse?

Only time you need Stamina on a mount, is when Zos adds horse racing to game.

Capacity was the most important on my first character (back when you could only max one stat on a horse) and then I made an additional fast horse for Cyrodiil. For alts, storage isn't as important. Especially since I usually purchase ESO+ when new content is released and now that there are assistants.

I leveled mount skill for all 8 of my toons back when the skill was tied to the specific mount, rather than a global mount skill for your character. Hence, I was able to level all 3 skills daily, using 3 imperial horses, whose progression then got merged together when the game changed over to B2P.

I never considered bothering with stamina back then since it would cost other stats. I would rather get knocked off my horse and die in Cyrodiil than move slowly. Since your horse continues running full speed when you hold sprint and run out of stamina, felt even less useful in PvE zones.

Because I don't actually play my characters right away after I create them, and use them as storage in the mean time. I have 14 at 60/60/60, and the most recent one is 30/0/0. Incidentally, it will be maxed out right around the next double XP event. Unless a new class is introduced I already have all the characters I will ever play just waiting there to be picked up :)

Speed and Stamina first - no priority between these two, but I generally do Speed first since it's on top. Capacity comes last.

I trained one horse with speed to max, then put the rest of the points into stamina, one horse with max stamina, then put the rest into capacity, and my third horse to max capacity, with the rest of the points into speed. I also had three other horses that were trained in order to have two of the three cosmetics applied each. Then the stats were combined and applied to every mount. Haven't done mount training since. If I were to waste time on that for an alt, I'd almost definitely train speed, then capacity, then stamina, because it's the most practical order.

Originally, I trained Capacity first, because my bank wasn't upgraded, but after I got it upgraded, then characters I started afterward, I did Capacity last, starting with Speed, because without the speed, I felt like I was trudging along & could barely move my feet.

I train my characters riding skill! :p;)

But I train for capacity first, since it helps with questing, then speed, then stamina - not in the least because I don't tend to go into cyrodil where speed and stamina are more important much until after I finished with all the questing... (not that I go into cyrodil much anyhow, because I kinda suck at the PvPness and get ganked a lot whenever i do...)

I really hate having to log in to each toon to upgrade my mounts, it'd be nice if Zos had a feature so when you are upgrading one you can instead choose to pay a gold fee to upgrade all toons mounts at once.

I also wish there was a way to quickly bring the mounts for all toons up to the same level, it's painful running round on a fairly fast horse on one toon then finding another toons mount practically goes in reverse with how slow it is.

Stamina last because I run a lot in the overworld to grab ALL the nodes.

Speed first because when I do ride somewhere I want to ride like the wind.

On my first character, capacity, then speed, then stamina. Wanted all the hoarding/loot space possible.

But after seeing what a difference speed makes, all of my alts do speed first, then kind of a back and forth between capacity and stamina.

Something relevant that I completely forgot up until now - stamina doesn't do s***. It's really only there to stop from getting knocked off your horse by getting hit by an enemy - it uses up stamina instead of knocking you off. You can sprint forever on a horse even without any stamina upgrades. So when you use all your stamina up from sprinting, whether you've upgraded your mount stamina or not, you're in the same position of getting knocked off your mount - if you manage to even enter combat and get hit, while sprinting through the fields at mach 5 with your maxed out speed.

So stamina is borderline worthless, for anyone curious.
