hi...multiple players told me when i complained about the use chests in zone that it does not matter the chest will disappear after a timer and it will appear full and locked and told me to try and wait near a chest(and hope its one of those with short timer) and check the story for myself. But considering i have autoloot on and i was on a chest run i did not stop to verify that. But it might be true.
It does time out but takes less than 5 minutes for it to do so. I've tested it myself.
I do however think they should reduce the timer to 60 seconds from opening it. If you are wondering chests are under the same time down as group dungeon chests as well. For those wondering yes I do not have auto loot on and yes I do take everything from chests. If it is nodes I generally take everything, well except for clockwork city for those crafting dailies... take everything except quest item. You would be surprised at how quick the refresh for those things are.

That may be true for treasure chests you find in dungeons, delves, trials, as well as treasure-map chests, but I don't believe it works that way for treasure chests that spawn topside.
I do not care what people leave in chests. I was not always a subscriber and understand sometimes they need to make a choice of what to take because their inventory is limited. When I find an already opened chest I just pick all and move along to another one. Prefer to not wasting day on thinking what to do with an obvious stuff.

They do, I've checked that as well. Wasn't easy but I did test it. Works the same way.

Something really needs to be done about this toxic way of playing the game leaving trash for other people wasting everyone's time I suggest that you can't loot another chest unless you previously loot everything to make the chest despawn, or till it despawns on its own.

That is really strange, because when I farm (been farming in Hews Bane since it went live), treasure chests with junk items left in them sit there, and sit there, and sit there, and sit there. Maybe ZOS did recode topside chests. I'll check it out.
That being said, it would be nice if ZOS gave us a quality of life improvement that allowed players to right-click on an item while it was still in the treasure chest in order to choose 'delete' (saving us from having to take the item(s) into our inventory before deleting).
As I understand the frustration, just being nasty usually encourages more negative behavior.
It does suck coming up on a chest partial and it's rude.
Some people are just trolls but there are a lot of new people who really may not know that by not looting everything the chest will just sit.
Also some that play this game are kids and don't care. They will grow up one day.
Also it is JUST A GAME!!
Suggestions and reasonable ideas is something that ZOS can work with.

only if they allow us to put items IN chests. where else am i going to store excess lockpicks. they will come in handy for someone

Finally, a way to get rid of excess Grease, and other poison solvents, Cloudy poisons, and excess Ta without having to delete them.

Are you in a guild? If so, maybe ask if anyone there wants them? We pass excess stuff like that around before just deleting.
I'll tell you what. You convince ZoS to give me a bottomless bag for junk from chests and I'll pick them all clean. Until then, no, I don't feel like wasting time picking through 200 items just to delete/vendor then countless garbage found in most chests. The comments in this thread are ridiculous... Loot penalties, no chest to spawn until the one you didn't fully loot despawns, etc. You guys are ridiculous. The chests respawn on a timer; fully looted or not.

Humans like you are what makes playing with other humans horrible sometimes.
Just wow. So human A just wants to play a computer game as he wants. And Human B insults him IRL and feels justified.....

I say they can farm how they like, leave the trash loot or take it...source - not a chest farmer.
As they say: blame the game not the player, hopefully ZOS can remedy a solution.

No Excuses!
Step 1:
Take the item(s) out of the chest that you want to keep
Step 2:
Take as many of the junk items as you can into your inventory and destroy them .. keep doing this until the chest is empty. There are various spawn points on the map where a treasure chest will appear (per geographical area). Only so many chests can spawn-in at a time (within that area). When one treasure chest de-spawns, another one will appear on a different spawn point. The longer a partially emptied treasure chest sits there, the longer it takes for the replacement chest to spawn in.I realize that the 2-step process I outlined above may be very difficult for some players. Unfortunately, there aren't any CP nodes that will help and I didn't see anything in the crown store that would be helpful either (despite the fact that it's extremely difficult for some players to level up this ability).

I don't think deletion should be allowed without actually owning the item. But being able to clear inventory while it is open would be nice.
I like the idea of a shorter period for keeping the chest open, but have the shorter period stop when anything from the node is taken, not from a chest unlock, for example. The assumption would be that what gets left behind is what people have little interest in.
Of course, making inventory management suck less would also help with this.

That can be countered by: Human A prevents other players from playing the game as they want (e.g. being able to open chests and receive the full contents instead of others' leavings.).

And this can be countered by Human A is playing the game they the way they want, and not how Human B, C, D or E wants them to play the game.
Nobody has any right to dictate to any other person how they should play the game just because they don't like it.
