Crafting Engineering?

Latonia
Latonia
I am an ex-WoW player and really enjoyed crafting engineering items such as bombs, mounts, items enabling you to fly off from tall cliffs and not dying on impact with the ground ++
I just wondered if anyone else would like to see engineering in ESO and what you think the chances are of ZOS introducing it? If not engineering, what, if any, other craft would you like to see?

No chance. I've heard tell the engine wasn't designed to handle flying and stuff like you mentioned. It's be nice to be able to make jewelry, but what I'd really want to see would be craftable sets that are actually worth crafting.

Shame, I wasn't thinking so much of the flying mount, although I would love one in ESO and the 'flight' jumping from a cliff is only to enable a soft landing at the base of the cliff. Do agree re making jewellery and the craftable sets, I've no idea what I'm going to do with all 9 traits when I finish training them some time in the next month or two and although I am still buying motifs I'm not sure why I'm bothering since I'm unlikely to use them much. I guess from ZOS's point of view it's a good gold sink.

Who doesn't want to lob bombs at some of the mobs?

The bomb idea is pretty cool, and mechanics wise I don't see how it'd be different in effect or animation from spells and stuff that's already in the game, so I think the engine could totally handle that.

As for the 'soft-landing' I guess that could work, except I sort of like that you fall to your death. Adds a certain je ne sais quoi that makes you panic.

What the French call "I don't know what...", lol. I too like the feeling of jumping and then thinking, "Please live, please live..." and the obvious "Oh this is really high, I'm dead.."

Yes, I know all about panicking when I launch myself off the top of a cliff lol. Only this morning, after a longish ride from a wayshrine I jumped from a cliff and found myself wedged between two tall rocks from which I couldn't escape. Only way out was to transport back to the wayshrine where I had begun my journey. I did think then that had I floated elegantly down, I may have had time to avoid the hole into which I dropped the first time

Other useful engineering stuff, from what I recall is a deepsea helmet for breathing under water but I guess as we can't go underwater in eso that would be a bit redundant. But what about a motorbike or a muzzlesprocket (don't ask), or a loot-a-rang for looting a dead mob in a hard to reach location, or a wormhole centrifuge. How can we live in ESO without these things?

I don't think I've even in a situation where it was hard to loot a corpse due to distance as opposed to it glitching through the floor.

I assume you play on a PC? You got all sort of inputs for a PC, but on a console I don't know how you're going to have real extraneous features like loot a rangs or steampunk jetpacks map to the controller. The inputs are pretty much maxed out as to what you can do with the controller.

Learned this in Cyrodiil but when launching yourself off a high point always do it at an angle.

Running straight off and arcing down to go splat, pretty much guaranteed death if high enough

Bouncing of rocks and stuff on the way down means you'd probably live. Done well you hardly take damage.
