Sneak Attack

I don't really understand how sneak attacks work, and I want to play a NB, should I should learn. Do sneak attacks apply just to attacks, or to skills as well? Does Magicka or Stamina matter? I haven't noticed any benefit to sneak attacking with staves. Any guides I find are hopelessly out of date so it's hard to find out what info is correct?

Lavennin✭✭✭Only stamina based skills have a chance to do sneak attack, or stamina based weapons' default attacks. I forgot if there are stamina skills that end your stealth first, in which case it wouldn't be a sneak attack.0

✭✭Sneak attacks after morrowind only work on pve monsters. Your first strike gets a bonus to critical damage. The modifier is unknown though, zos has never mentioned the #.
Only physical/disease/poisons get the bonus damage(for pve) and free stun + crit.PS4 NA DC0 -
TheOOB✭Kinda lame for magicka toons. So the cloest to magicka sneak attack would be a mage light concealed weapon then I guess?0

Lavennin✭✭✭It's fair though, magblades already have perma invisibility, which is useful in...I guess only in DB & TG quests. But it's cool.
Because of this reason, I've always wanted to play a hybrid.0
