Just disable it in towns and cities. In fact, disable all ability use in cities, too. The lag will magically disappear and places like Elden Root won't be instant dc-screens. Wayshrining to these places feels like Russian Roulette every time... Random ability spammers on top of 3-4 duels all on top of each other makes travel to major cities laggy.

I think the current situation is fine and that people are just whining and calling for the removal of s*** that reminds them they're not on a single player game. People dueling doesn't hinder your quest progress, your ability to talk to npcs/merchants, or your ability to walk around town. You're just being a jerk about the situation and calling for the removal of content that a majority of the community had to beg and plead and post about for ages because oh noooo, there are other people in an MMO doing things you can't control or hide. Welcome to the reality of the genre.

But "Oh" I hear you getting ready to say, "People shouldn't be allowed to duel in cities because it's illegal/wrong/lore breaking and they should be fined or killed/arrested by the guards." Why? No really, why? In a duel, the combatants agree to fight to the death. A guard would have no reason to intervene in an honorable combat situation such as that.

If people dueling drops your frame rate, then you have a piece of s*** pc. And yeah, you do. Don't try to tell me you don't, because if you've adjusted your graphics to suit your specs and that still happens, you do. That, or you've got 56k modem-grade internet.

If you're on console and it screws with your performance, then that's something ZOS should look into and maybe consider altering the mechanics of because you can't help it.

I suspect OP is aware of the frivolity of their post and asinine nature of the idea based on some of their subsequent comments and past threads, but still, this is ridiculous.

It's prevalent in cities because that's where the traffic is. If you had to go outside of city limits to do it, that would kind of defeat the purpose. I have never dueled anyone but I do enjoy watching some epic battles from time to time. I don't know how it is distracting. What are you doing that you are distracted? Crafting? Looking in your inventory? Not sure I understand.

Nothing wrong with it per se. But it was unfortunate I had to take a son down when I was trying to trade near a banker and he got in the way. The request on the wheel should be opposite the trade request. Not a pretty sight. Well, maybe to some it was. But it disrupted players in the bank whereas a simple player-to-player trade would not have.

Why would we want to take out a game mode in a game that has like 3 game modes lol. Pve pvp and dueling.

Leave us alone plus im hosting a 300k duel in my new house it would be so sad if they ever took dueling out

REVISION:
should have been moved to dedicated arenas for just that purpose. The balance of the match, and arena type selected from a list of options to be agreed to by both (or teams). "duelers" can generate invites to other players... in-game wagering (like trading system) allowing invited audience members to wager on duels.

Dueling, if done properly, would be something I'd be interested in. Instead we just got something they tacked on to appease the PvP community. As it is now, I pretty much only duel when I need to kill some time while waiting for a queue or waiting for a group to get put together.

Yes, remove dueling from cities - everywhere where player does not have to wait 10 seconds to log out (safe zone) dueling should be removed or at least, city guards should kill on sight people who duel within city area.

I've only dueled 2 times since dueling came out.

1. I dueled with a friend I knew I could beat ( I won )

2. I was bored at a dark anchor so I requested to duel someone and then just stood there and let them kill me.
