Morrowind Beta invites for console players?

Before you grab your roasting Torches, I don't mean a beta build for console.

Are console accounts eligible to participate in closed beta on pc? Are you inviting Xbox and PS4 players to download the beta client on a pc and participate in providing feedback?

I'm guessing I know the answer and that we're stuck relying on the master pc race to test.

If your answer is no, would you consider doing this in the future as you have a very large base of people that love this game and would like to provide feedback to make it better?

I have friends who mainly play console but also have a PC account that they have access to the PTS on, So if you have a PC account and the PTS installed you still have access to it. Whether you are a closed beta tester is completely up to ZoS

I've given thought to doing the same. It's a shame that they only offer the ability to test their changes and provide feedback to one-third of the platforms available.

Not expecting a special build for console PTS (even though it's not unheard of), but I'd imagine it can't be too difficult to let anybody who owns a copy of the game be able to download a pts client on a PC regardless of what platform they play on

The main reason for not having this on console is they have to have all changes approved by either Sony or Microsoft before any patch goes live regardless of how large or small it is.

It has to be tested and approved and that can sometimes take a month to go through that process.

That's the reason you see PC get hotfixes incrementally and console usually gets a package deal a month later with all fixes.

I wish console companies would streamline the process but it's been that way for a while.

This, this and this. It's sadly not ZOS' fault for most issues for console PTS or update pace but the console companies.

As for those looking to test if you have a PC that can run the game (even on lowest settings) pick up a copy of the game for like £10 on Amazon and use that account for PTS access and testing.

A few of you are not reading my op. Given that we already bought copies of the game and I guarantee you that no shortage of helpful people would be happy to test pts or beta client, would a "pts only" or "beta only" pc account be something easily set up?

Look at any 1 of the 500 posts up right now with people who are concerned about the changes proposed and want to offer feedback, but can't because we prefer to play the game on console.

I get that you can get a copy of the game cheap, but how much weight are they gonna put behind a PC account that is never played when deciding who to turn to for advice and invite to a closed beta?

I'm not petitioning for a beta invite for myself, but you're missing out on some good people if you're cutting your invites out at pc only.

It's a valid question and it'd be awesome to get some Zos input on this

Ah, sorry man I did miss that. My apologies.

I guess it could work. I mean - if that happened don't expect to carry the build into console.

That's not a bad idea to allow console players to go into the PTS with beta invite assuming they do have a PC that could run it.

I played the original beta way before the game launched on PC telling them full well I play on console and I got in.

Don't see why they couldn't do that again.

I don't play on PC so don't know how it would work this way so my post here is speculation.

According the 3 or 4 I know that received them, it is from the email tied to their Xbox accounts. They did not sign up. one of them is the owner of an ESO fan site, and he assumes that's why he got it. The others I don't know too well. They're just in a trade Guild with me, but we're surprised to get it

Somebody didn't read the civil discussion we were having.

I was asking a question that would be answered by a community manager. Where's this unnecessary hostility coming from?

Me tagging a Zenimax employee to ask a question only they can answer should have no ill effect on your forum trolling....

Edit: to my knowledge, this thread pre-dates any console player receiving an invite. It's not a "how do computer betas work thread"

It's not until after I responded that I saw the massive influx of posts from console players. I apologize on their behalf for not understanding how things work lol. But in my defense, it's obvious that you didn't read this thread and see why Zos is tagged.

Why is it silly? We're not all CoD "bro" types on xbox. Some of us can even operate a computer, and as I said would love to have our voices heard with testing things out/providing feedback.

Things coming, like the buff trackers, effect us more than the pc master race players.

Why discredit fans who help support the game just because we don't play on pc? If we're capable of playing it on a PC, our opinion is invalid because of what reasons?

Not how my post was intended.

I play on PS4, don't have the PC client, and got an invite. It seems silly to extend me an invite when I can't access the PTS.

Yes. When you made an account Zos would have made you make a Zos account. So if you can remember... Log into that. Just click "account" at the top of this page. Of you are able to... The link to download would be on the right of the page. Kinda below where it says if you have ESO membership, how many crowns etc.

Before anyone gets their pitchforks on release as well and suddenly blames PC players for "things not being tested".

Just want to remind everyone that ZoS's track record with actually doing anything with what people tell them usually doesnt happen. They usually decide to do what they want even if the player base tells them the opposite so lets have no blame games between platforms k?

People are asking why they're invited because as of right now if you're a console only player with a capable PC you cannot get on the PTS on your PC.

The e-mail does not tell you how to access the Launcher, that you need to purchase ESO on PC to access the beta, but it does tell you, "You will be able to sign into the game with your regular ESO game account details." which is 100% not true for console players.

A PC player will tell you "Go to account page, check the right corner and click download"

    https://imgur.com/a/FOzPQ

Now someone posted direct download links to the Game Launcher.

And when I go to log-in with this account I am posting with I get an error even though the Billing History on this account shows I have access.

I think tagging @ZOS_GinaBruno employees is fine. Clarification would be great. Confusion is rampant and the earlier a ZOS employee confirms or denies access the less we will see forum posts on the subject.

Actually it details a lot more by simply reading the email which sends you to the closed PTS forums and the other links send you to your account page.

    @DrSweetazz

Bold isn't intended for hostility, it's drawing attention to read the email.

The email tells you that ZOS selected you. Previously the news article says ZOS will select participants and it doesn't say only PC would be invited.

It's honestly all in the email tho if ppl read and follow the links.

Sure you would need to play on pc but the email also clarifies this as well as the very detailed PTS pinned thread.

I did read the thread and it was after I read my own email and followed the instructions. I play on Xbox one and while I have a pc game account why would invites exclude anyone?

To me it would seem that an invite for console players makes a ton of sense as they can choose to buy and play on PC and may desire to give feedback for the upcoming release.

I read that many comments have concluded that ppl shouldn't have gotten invites due to individuals own thoughts that have no validity on the matter. It's just an invitation.

You send out two or three times as many as you hope would take part. They always do closed beta invites in waves (ZOS)

Console players definitely need to be represented so they can judge things from their perspective based on how it will translate to console. Hopefully then can successfully take part.
