If the Grand Topal is only available for a few days... Can't we atleast get a crown sale?!

Seriously if the Grand Topal Hideaway is only available from April 27th - May 1st.. Thats a short period of time for some ppl to come up with the big sticker price we all know it's going to have.. Atleast with the cave they can save and buy later. Or wait for a crown sale...
So maybe ZOS can give us a crown sale ..... Just sayin...

If we're going to get one any time soon it's likely to be towards the end of the anniversary event, judging by previous sales.

But they're still trying to sell houses and they've announced Morrowind doesn't come with any character slots so they'd be expecting a lot of players to have buy crowns for those. They'll want those to be full price. So they might deny us sales.

I too am hanging out for one. Have been waiting since December's stupidly overpriced elk left me without enough to buy a banker. And given how they gouge us I'm not buying any crowns at full price.

we have an on going thread about this -here is the link:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/327755/crown-sales-when-will-the-next-crown-sale-happen#latest

I feel we will have more impact and possibly get a response if everyone uses the same thread.

Absolutely not going to happen. The whole point of high value limited-time-offer items like this is they KNOW people will pay for it, reluctantly or otherwise. If a Crown sale is coming in the near future, it'll be after the Homestead item has come and gone, and before the next month of rare items is announced, to try and get people to buy a bunch more Crown Crates.

You have just answered your own question.

Why we won't have a crowns sale in the near future?

Because there is a limited time house on the horizon that many people were waiting for. Some of them will likely buy it for the full price.

Expect the crowns sale sometime between Grand Topal Hideaway and Morrowind so most likely in May.

I keep hoping they use this item to test crown prices. I know this is naive and I don't expect it to happen, but hear me out.

They (zos) have enough data now to be able to predict how many will buy the island at 13-15k crowns.

They don't know whether three times as many people would buy it for 5.5k. My bet is that they would make more by offering it for less.

Maybe I'm just assuming there are a lot of people like me, people who would like a private island but refuse to pay the outrageous prices we have seen.

Sadly I don't think ZOS is going to hear or care about the cries of how messed up this could be for some.

Their marketing team wanted an exclusive cash grab and damned be those who miss out because of it.

I really wish they could get past this shady stuff with the store, but someone working there seems to feel the revenue it generates is more worthwhile than the resentment and bad rep it's earning them.

You would have thought the fact everyone calls them ZO$ would be a sign maybe they're not getting the right reputation.

You realize that's the optimistic outcome of that logic, right? They might charge 20k Crowns with exactly the same reasoning

Surely some will and just as surely others won't. Either way it will leave players not feeling good towards ZO about it.

I've been following ESO since way before launch and unfortunately I think the shadiness is much higher up than the marketing department. It's been a very two-faced enterprise from the start.

Eg. pre launch they literally said both that there would and would not be enough skill points to learn all skills on a single character, and when pressed directly for clarification, dodged until just before launch.

Eg. they created strong racial bonuses to appeal to those who like them, and for the opposite crowd they destroyed those bonuses with soft caps. Not surprisingly no-one was actually fooled by this and they ended up having to throw away the caps.

    etc. etc. etc.

To be fair, the majority of people already spent their crowns from the sales, on limited time items. A sale right now would pressure people like myself who would otherwise not spend money on the current crown prices ever. I don't care how majestic the island house is. I won't (probably many other people too) drop money on crowns unless there is a sale. Last sale I bought 25k crowns, so if someone like myself with that kind of money to spend declines buying standard priced crowns for a limited time house i'm sure many others won't buy it either. They would get far more profit if there was a sale, Primarily because the house is limited time so it's little lifespan on the crownstore is the only thing they receive in terms of profit. If the sales tank then they basically screwed themselves, a sale guarantees a successful profit in this case.

The crown sales are what have drove crown costs up. If you want to buy it, buy the crowns at retail.

More crown sales exponentially increase crown costs that's why the crown crates and limited offers exist. They need to purge crowns as many of us active folks have 5-20k in crowns most of the time

I still have 10k Plus but the value is only $14.99 due to service issues granting crowns and sales

    You're not serious?

Crown sales aren't inflicted on ZO by outside forces. ZO offer them to justify the outrageous prices on many crown store items.

Buying crowns at full price absolutely will not bring down crown store prices. It'll just make the evil crown store goblins drool with glee.

New items in store no sale, after they see less sells over time then they do a sale.
They would be .... to do a sale when new items are released.

    Groupfinder:
The worst part is when it finally puts you in a group, your healer turns into a werewolf, your tank has 14k HP and the dps is heavy armor, using a restro staff and a two handed sword on the backbar. Then comes the 15 minute penalty before the cycle starts anew.

    Rulz of Morrowind:
    • The first rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • The second rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • Third rule of Morrowind: Someone yells NDA stuff, uploads images, streams, the game is over.
    • Fourth rule: only invited players can test.
    • Fifth rule: one invite at a time, fellas.
    • Sixth rule: crying or bashing on pts.
    • Seventh rule: NDA will go on as long as they have to.
    • And the eighth and final rule: If this is your first invite at Morrowind, you have to play.

They have plenty of items for sale at lower price points. It is smart for them to also offer items at absurdly high price points.

They will release other items for people like you.

There is ALWAYS new items, every month there is a crownstore showcase. With your logic there will never be a crown sale.

    @Nerouyn
No idea what you're commenting about.

The value of crowns is depreciated by each sale. The more crowns collectively purchased at lower prices effects the crown prices as ZOS sets the price.

Not sure why you've commented on outside forces at all. It's specifically an internal supply and demand situation where the mix of subscription for pc and PS4 only allow bulk month subs while Xbox only allows one month.

Then sales every 3-5 months for two years

Results are obvious as the initial prices were less than 3500 but now items are set for 14,000 and above.

They've also excluded Morrowind from and the gold pack from crown purchases.
