There is no logical reason for it OP.

It spits on the name of Oblivion, should rather have been a 5 piece bonus of : Opens a portal to oblivion dealing X amount of dmg to whoever is within range.

Also to the people with so many empty soul gems you realise there is a passive that can fill these right? Or just equip the skill and go kill a ton of trash with the effect casted on them it takes like 10 mins to fill a ton.

These are ones that I use when levelling characters or making gear for a new player as finding complete sets is painful and I like to have the training trait on all pieces.

Armor of the Seducer and Law of Julianos for magica DPS characters.
Hunding's Rage and either Night Mother's Gaze or Ashen Grip for stamina DPS.
Hist Bark and Whitestrake's Retribution for tanks.
Kagrenac's Hope and Seducer or Julianos for healers.
Night's Silence if I am going to be a thief or an assassin a lot.

I think people still use Twice-Born Star.

I am sure I will get some grief for this list but these are what I use, 10 sets still of use. However when I hit CP160 I go dropped sets all the way.

I actually went out of my way to get this set just to farm soulshards to fuel the turbo rezzing power of my templar.

It is literally impossible to run out of soul gems in this game. Never have I ever felt the need to fill empty soul gems.

Back way before one tamriel I used to make a lot of gold selling filled grand soul gems to people. Some thing like 400% of what the empty gem cost me. This set on a stam sorc with steel tornado and i had a near endless supply of other peoples gold.

At this point it is just a forgotten set from the past.

About 80% of the sets in this game are useless / ineffective compared to other sets that can do the job much better.

Not really much else besides that fact. It's up to ZOS if they want to bring use or not to these sets.

nah.. They probably wanted to add filler sets but the problem with it is that its made the drop rate for good sets so horrid and cringey that i actually dont want to run certain dungeons anymore even if the set im going after is good.

... I've been looking for that set in divines for a while. The heal seemed nice for some characters that have trouble staying alive in solo PvE.

But I maintain that the craftable Oblivion's Foe set should be changed to synergize with Oblivion's Edge, by changing the 5pc bonus to "gain x ultimate when you trap a soul". That could make some fun ultimate generation builds.

Some sets have terrible 5th piece bonus, but they are decent as 3-4 piece sets to run along side a complete 5 piece one and a monster set.

3 empty soul gems per character that does writs, at least I think they are always empty, they add up pretty fast in my bank. On a daily basis most of my characters do nothing but the writs, so there is no chance to fill them. They get sent to the bank, and then pulled on the stam sorc.

The skill takes up a skill slot and only does 2. I have the passive on all my characters and it has never kept up with my empties, 10% on weapon skill kills just isn't enough. There was also a period of time it was bugged and didn't work at all, I think that's when I started using the set. With this set equipped there is no limit, if I tag 25 enemies with aoe and they die while I am on the bar with this set I get 25 filled gems.

It is a huge time saver when it comes time to take care of my empties. It's a niche set, just like some of the stealth sets or the 2 sets that combined give you unlimited sprinting. They aren't useful for everyone or even for anyone in all situations, but they do have a use to certain players in certain situations.

I do agree with @stevepdodson_ESO888 and @zaria it shouldn't have been a dungeon drop.

I would be happy to take any empties that you or anyone else doesn't want to fill. Send to @runswithbullcrit I do sell quite a few of the filled ones, so I'm sure some people must run out on occasion.

Well, you sounded proud... or confident at least. I think it's cool. If it wasn't for you hardcore folk a lot of the mechanics would be lost on the rest of us and I would do it myself if time permitted.

Decent PvP stam set, reminds me of Kagrenac i guess. Soulgem ability is crap ofc but it can be helful in PvP aswell i think. You do loose a ton of soul gems in Cyro.

Vampire's Kiss would be a better choice for staying alive while leveling.

A fair number of these useless sets have been changed, oblivion's foe for one. The weapon damage on the five piece bonus didn't exist before one tamriel. At least I think it was one tamriel when they updated some of these sets. Same goes for the dropped night mother's embrace. Never used to have weapon damage on the five piece. Same for shadow dancer's raiment, dropped set. Five piece bonus never used to have stamina recovery.

Granted these changes aren't going to make me want to use them over hunding's or TBS but I felt it needed to be noted.

Also, the oblivion edge's set in particular, seems more geared toward a roleplayer's point of view. The set bonuses for everything but the main five piece are nice but the two go to stamina crafted sets, hunding and nmg, are very similar and have useful five piece bonuses. The whole utility of filling a soul gem on kills seems to me like it was designed for any rp'ers who are into that kind of thing when looking at item sets.

If that's the case then these sets exist for a reason, albeit one that most players aren't aware of and don't use.

If I had to guess at which five useful crafted sets Calgamy was talking about I would I have to guess:
Julianos, hunding's, twice born, night mother's gaze and kagrenac's hope.

I've used seducer and Magnus at times as well but only when leveling new goons. Those five though are the only crafted sets I use with any frequency. Julianos especially.

I guess if your sole point is to go out and fill soul gems as quickly as possible, then this set is good for that.

It just has pretty poor stats and there are other ways to fill soul gems so I didn't see it as very useful.
