You dont want this system, if you get this, you will soon return to forums and complain about all the limitations the system would force on you.

Me included, to tell you "I said so".

I had a priviledge to play LOTRO and play with its wardrobe system which is essentially what you want, it is much better than any transmog style system..

Though why am i even writing, nobody reads anything but the first post anyways :(

I read what you said B)

But yes, a wardrobe system would be nice too. Literally anything to actually be able to apply learned motif styles to our appearance without being restricted to strictly crafted sets.

I agree, i often think that i would love to have ANY system to choose my own look, bu6t i urge people to ask more, because we need most room for creativity possible and those limitations would just frustrate us..

For example, if i have CP160 Primal heavy chest which is ugly, and want to convert to something else like basic Khajit.. The end result would be CP160 khajit heavy chest, somewhat nice, yes?

But the problem is, that if you want to use level 10 look on CP160, a conversion system like "Convert to imperial style", it forces me to use that levels look so i cant get that level 10 look.. Furthermore, some of us have extensive collection of "Acquired" basic clothing like boots, pants, shirts, dresses and such with no armor type or level at all, we cant use them on transmog style system or in convert system.

With LOTRO style wardrobe system, we can do anything with our clothing and only our imagination is the limit.

Agreed. There was a time I spent a lot of time and gold to collect every motif I possibly could, but when I got about 98% of them up through Dark Brotherhood, I finally asked myself why. I couldn't use any of them! Add me to the people who will definitely never buy a motif through the Crown Store until I'm able to change the appearance of my existing end-game gear.

That's exactly what happened to me :/

Although I did cave in and bought the Grim Harlquin one because the deal with the 54 stones was way too good to pass, and the light armor looks so good on my Vampire, and I still have some hope that one day I'll be able to apply it to dropped pieces...
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Someone brought up the idea of an appearance tab a few months ago and it has some merit. They wouldn't need to alter current items, it would allow people to run whatever they want and give crafters a reason to collect all these motifs. It might even mitigate the desire for weapon dying as folks could choose say the voidsteel look of the weapon to replace the red weapons we're currently strapped with.

In several other MMOs it is implemented as a tab on the item sheet that mirrors the equipable slots. Items placed in the appearance slot would not have any of its stats applied but would overide the style visible on the slot.

Adding a slot in the dying stations for Appearance items would be a must as well.

Possibly making it so the disguise slot on the equipment tab override the appearance slots

    definitely needed.

While I love wearing costumes on some of my characters, sometimes I wanna see the amazing armour in the game. Sadly this only often applies to crafted sets of gear. And in some cases there are much better dropped sets than the crafted ones, leaving crafted gear obsolete and worthless thus leaving motifs worthless.

I'd love to be able to change the style of my armour sets. maybe with stones like mimic stones which you have to buy from the crown store. Idc. they can even drop in the crown crates too.

My idea for this is simple. Add a wardrobe system. You'd open your character panel and have a button or a tab to swap to wardrobe. The wardrobe lets you equip items as you normally would except only their appearance is applied. This allows crafters to make a business out of their motifs and doesn't require any special code to transmog existing items (which doesn't really work due to bound items). I would be fine with them linking access to wardrobe to ESO+ to give more value to a subscription (it's 100% cosmetic after all).

If the transmog system used an object for style template you could get any style in the game.
Having an transmog where you selected an style from an list would be more limiting as you say probably needs updating for new styles too, and it would let you buy the template armor from player with the style and use it.

An wardrobe would be more advanced but also a bit harder to implement.
Basically an costume slot for each armor slot where you put normal armor.
You would also need it for weapons, and two as its nice to differentiate between the two bars easy.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Wardrobe system might be a bit harder to implement or it might not be hardr, i dont know.. If you think of it, the needed technology allready exists with the normal armor slots.. All you need in the simplistic way is to add another tab that looks exactly the same as the current armor slots.

Then the code only needs to have additional "appearance swap" button, just like for the weapons currently.. Only difference that it would only use the appearance and get stats from rthe current tab.

Wardrobe system is easy maintenance, as each new style thats added, does not need any update for wardrobe system as it works same as curr4ent equipment slots. Each new style is readily available by simply equipping the wanted piece to the slot.

    Support my wardrobe thread ^^

Theres also couple of links to videos explaining LOTRO's wardrobe system which is basically the best i have ever encountered in an MMORPG.
