Solo Those Resources

Tired of getting Zerged? Are you a solo player who wants to actually help your faction? Do you not really care about AP?

Start soloing resources. As far as I can tell it's the most team oriented thing that a solo player can do. Any 561, and really any 300, with the right set up can do this. Once done just report what you did in area chat and move along. You'd be amazed how much this can help focus the masses on taking keeps while you clean up the map for your team.

Bonus is that if you do it right, and pick your spots you can get 3 or 4 of them done before any Zerg can react, and by that point you should be long gone.

Yes, you will occasionally get Zerged down or pick a bad spot. It happens. But gankers don't generally hang out at resources that are not near the front line.

So next time you think that one person can't help the war, find a resource and put a point on the board for your faction!

Agreed, solo or small group. Taking 5-6 folks resource capping almost always results in a few smaller skirmishes while the other side tries to sort out how many people it will take to put you down.

If you can't handle the damage or are on azuras do it this way.

Pull the tower healer behind the tower and kill
pull the tower guard behind the tower kill
    kill the tower mage guard
Find the guard pather and kill
Walk to the flag, don't gap close. If you gap close they will drop a negate right on the flag. Stay on the edge until it drops.

You can also siege it down if it's not level 5(iirc) where they get siege shields.

Thats what i've been doing. Capturing a resource is not only helping a faction, it also ALWAYS drags numerous completely empty-headed enemies from their empty-headed zergs. That means free AP once they jump on a flag.

Walk to the flag, don't gap close. If you gap close they will drop a negate right on the flag. Say on the edge until it drops.

    Here is my secret method.

    - Pop invis potion
    - Run into middle and destroy the 2 healers. Try to avoid ultimate bombing them if you can so you have one in reserve for a player who may pop up unannounced. I use pokey sticks generally.
    - One the two healers are down, turn and get the 3rd healer by the stairs.
    - Now you're left with the regular NPCs. Wipe out the ones in the middle and then focus the mage guard.
    - If done correctly the entire process should take a minute.

The invis pot is the key. You'll have a much easier time if you can get to the flag without getting pelted with fireballs.

I sometimes solo down resources on Azura's. It's tricky, but not hard.

    1. Pull the weak guards into the tower and kill them. Heal up.
    2. Clear the mage guard at the top of the tower. Then heal up.
    3. Kill the healers (sometimes need to use a basic pot or two. Aborb magic is fantastic here since they all use magical attacks.)
    4. Recover resources while under fire.
    5. Burst down the DK-styled guards one at a time.

LOS is your friend when capping resources. That said, If a player shows up while I'm fighting I'll be looking at the wayshrine shortly.

Try that invisibility potion trick. You'll be facerolling these things in no time.

As a mageblade using sap essence it is quite easy. Just make sure to have siph attacks active and cloak ready for running away.

    Soul tether/VoB are useful too.

I was in the wrong place at the wrong time

On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique

One of the hardest things about taking resources solo is the time it takes for the flag to flip... be sure to hold block and stay buffed while on the flag. I don't think the resource flags on the map until you are flipping the flag, but once it lights up on the map, there is still plenty of time for enemy players to respond.

Great point. I'll add, make sure you do not crouch while you do it. Flags do not flip while you are hiding.

Heck, with no doors on towers, make your way into the tower either use cloak, dodgeroll, shields, invisible pots etc. Then kill the two guards that follow you in. Make sure to Los pin guards. Then take out tower mag. Once tower mag is down pin guard healers fold quick without having to worry about dodging tower mage. Then last two pin guards.

Though if you want enemies to react, pick a resource you'll know they will react to. Glade/arrius/faregyl are guaranteed spots to find enemies to follow you.

You could go to the next keep that's closer to your teleport, but you risk being zerged down and defeats the purpose of hitting a resource anyway.

If done right, the solo player will meet 5 players which are not attacking your teammates and you'll still get some pvp while adding to your factions score.

Or you could just wander to the same spot 100 other players are at and pretend the lag fight is pvp. Up to you :).
