Frostcaster Motif only has 5 Mimic Stones?

I've noticed this about Crown Store stuff in general. Stuff is priced in such a way as to encourage 2 transactions instead of 1.

Well, I can see why people are a bit irked by this. If it's store exclusive and the materials don't have any drop in game, then there should be more mimic stones.

Thank god I still have like 40 from the last event motif, it won't stop me from buying it because it doesn't hurt me - but I do think overall it hurts other players - particularly first time motif buyers - and that ain't cool.

Actually the stones are the issue. There is NO WAY IN GAME to farm the style material used to make these. The Halloween motif came with 54 mimic stones at a cost of 200 crowns more.

As a fan, this is just sad.

Why would you not just give them 2 more stones!? Ofc I get it, you want players to have to spend even more money after their initial purchase, but... I can't help but think some folks already bought the motif expecting to get enough stones to actually use it.

Tactics like these are destroying the faith of your remaining player base. Is it really worth it? Cashin' out then?

Personally, I vowed not to spend any more money on this game after the introduction of crown crates, and I haven't. I'm not even interested in the new motif, and yet this still irks me because of how my community is being done. I feel completely vindicated in deciding not to support the game monetarily from here on out due to stuff like this - because it sends a clear message that you're going to milk dry everyone left who even cares about largely useless stuff like this (given the no restyle approach.)

I guess this means ZoS thinks it's too late to make a good game with basic functions and fair transactions; now it's time to exploit the suckers still on the hook. smfh. I loved you ESO

Grim harlequin came with 54 stones and was cheaper then buying a pack of 54 stones alone. But still a lot of you guys pissed and moaned and complained about zos and their supposed dirty tactics. Now this one comes out with just the standard amount of stones most crown store motifs come with and you guys *** and moan and complain about the number of stones. Like I said even if it came with 5000 stones you would still find something to complain about. Its not about the stones.

I do feel like this was a step in the wrong direction with these Motifs. You had the right of it with the way the Grim Harlequin was handled. Im starting to think whoever you have incharge of pricing and such needs to be flogged or just fired. Theyre misstepping entirely too much.

My argument is they changed the pricing from Grimharlequin which is a completely comparative motif, as the style mats are not in game and farmable year round, this is the only motif that it should have been priced like.

People need to remember that ZOS hired the same person who created the neverwinter cash shop.

This person has a degree in psychology specializing in video game ADDICTION and knows the science behind getting people to spend more and more money.

Every cash shop exclusive is conditioning you for the next more expensive item on the slippery slop to P2W.

Just remember to look past the current issue and keep an open mind to what it truly means for the future of the game.

Her studies fail with me. I'm skipping all this crap. I'm still supporting the game but definately watching what's around in the market. All customers need to flush out these sort of practices with contundent rejection, sadly market trend is heading the other way around =/

Thats business in general. Theres daily conversion goals (where as they might have X amount of visitors, they expect Y amount of transactions to occur) theres basket goals (how many items are purchased on average) and transaction goals (the average amount being spent on transactions).

ZOS might be a little different but they definitely dont want you making single purchases. Thats why the Crown Packages are always different from what the amount of money you spent and what the typical items cost.

People complained BEFORE the Grim Harlequin was put on the store for an actual reasonable price and with a bunch of stones, since everybody assumed that it would follow the same pricing pattern that "top tier" motifs did. There were still like three or so people complaining about it after it happened, but the majority of the people who were concerned about what it would mean for the store were pleased by the offer. You don't have to take my word for it, you can go and search for the threads on the Grim Harlequin to see the shift that happened on the community's overall position regarding its inclusion if you wish.

The offer, this time, is worse than it was before.

This is the point. Same thing (exclusive motif), worse deal. It isn't complicated.

Honestly I wouldn't complain if it came with the 54 stones. Seriously 5 stones won't even make a set. Now you can preach all you want, but the fact that they only give you 5 stones is a testament to where they are headed. I didn't like the first one being cs exclusive but at least it was easier to swallow when you had enough stones to make full set. This one, beautiful motif, but to expect people to shell out another 1800 crowns, is rather distasteful.

I have subbed since launch and for many, many months there was absolutely nothing in the Crown Store that interested me.

That changed when costumes became dyeable and I brought quite a few.

I also brought the Grim Harlequin motif and today brought the Stahlrim one........

I chose to spend my money on subs and then in turn the crowns from those subs on stuff from the store.

Everyone has that choice, if you don't sub and you choose to buy crowns nobody is forcing you to do so.....

If you don't like the deal don't buy it, ZoS need to make money, this game is no longer a triple A sub game

I suppose my point is that everything is a matter of choice, there are still new motifs being added ingame, some of which look pretty nice, if you have to have a Stahlrim set but don't want to buy it, ask in chat bet there'll be someone who'll make it for you. If they've brought mimic stones in order to do that, then that was also their choice, as is how much gold they charge you.

A full set of armour is 7, plus let's say you use sword n board plus dual wield. That's 11. Then you might want to carry a staff and 2 hander. It should come with a minimum of 15.

And your point of being on these forums is to remind forum-goers that they are doing it right? You do understand that the forums is a place to go and share information or express grievances with the company right? That youre the odd man out here trying to tell everyone to STFU and be quiet if they dont like it. In fact the only person I saw that had a change of heart was @Prof_Bawbag being more against motifs being 5000 crowns. You yourself stated that the 54 stones made it not as bad but still weren't swayed to buy it or agree with the practice. I am not forum policing or telling anyone to stfu but it would be nice if you guys stuck to your particular grievances and weren't so wishy washy. I expected a thread complaining about the Frostcaster motif being in the crown store, predictable since there was so much complaining about the grim harlequin, but to say OH they didn't include stones as the main complaint now is just kinda comical and makes it hard to take these thread seriously.

Is it "right" to have cs exclusive motifs. Hard to say and depends on the person. I craft for myself only, occasional pcs for friends so buying cs exclusive that use mimic stones isn't a big deal for me. Now I think the grim harlequin was a better deal for sure then frostcaster, I was hopeful that it would also be sold with lots of stones but I didn't expect it or make the assumption it must. I would not have bought grim harlequin if it hadn't have been bundled with the stones, but I really like the frostcaster so most likely I still would have bought it and then had to buy stones. Which incidentally, would have worked out to be around the same price in crowns, or less actually.

I can see where the stones are an issue for people who craft for others though and to me is the more valid argument against mimic stone only motifs. I do feel the forums are a place to discuss via praise and criticism but the sheer amount of negativity on these forums over everything devalues those criticism. Pick your battles, stick to your guns. As much as I disagree with @STEVIL @Tandor and @JKorr about the current justice system they stick to their arguments and hold firmly to their positions and though I don't agree I respect that.

Some feedback: I don't mind buying motifs with Crowns, but I will not by a motif that does not have in-game style items. There is very limited demand for crafted items as it is. I agree with everyone who believes this is a bad deal.

this is the most bs thing ever when ever there has bin a special motif in store like the halloween one it gave you more then 5 i think it was 11 so you could at least make a full set of armor putting 5 in so you cant even make a full set then selling them on sale in the store is nothing more then a marketing ploy and after crown crates im not surprised this is how the game is now greed

Honestly, I love the Forstcalster style and I'd have no problems buying the motif. But since there is no way to get the style mats in game and I don't want to buy crowns every time I want to craft new armor, there is no reason for me to buy the motif either.

The mimic stones are exactly why i will not be purchasing this new motif... Let me explain -

1. I currently don't have any mimic stones.
2. I don't have enough crowns to buy the motif and the mimic stones pack.
3. I can't make a full armor set (armor and weapons) just buying the motif by itself... So because of this huge gaff by ZOS i will not be buying this motif!!!

I wish ZOS was a company that was capable of benevolence. Occasionally, they've extended events for one reason or another (i.e. halloween event on PC). I've never seen them take player feedback and turn it into instant fixes.

Like maybe compensating those who received gender or race exclusive items in the first batch of crown crates with 1 crown crate for every item. Instead, they're going to fix it next batch and screw over the people who bought this time around.

Similarly, people have asked for small compensation for extreme downtime, like the three consecutive days on PC. Although the time loss of a monthly sub is negligible, I think it would show good will if they rewarded 200 crowns to subbers or something. I saw this done in scummy money-hungry maple story. Of course, they'd give you just enough to taunt you to buy more because you couldn't really afford anything with the little bit they gave you.

For this motif, I would love to see those who bought the motif rightfully compensated with the 50 or so mimic stones they deserve (and I say "deserve" loosely, because I'm using the pervious price point as the basis). This will restore trust. It wouldn't cost ZOS money. They might loose out on the little bit of profit they would make from milking the players who spend on top of spending. But the trust is greater gain than milking, I feel.
