Ok all, we're going to be opening the PC and PS4 servers momentarily. We're still working on completing maintenance on Xbox.

    Thanks

Absolutely so many entitled cry babies in this forum post. I really wonder what would happen with those that always complain about maintenance if ZoS just said. "Ok, you know what, we give up. Taking all servers offline permanently"

Then i bet those same people would be back here crying because they couldn't play the game anymore.

Hmm maybe that time has come

This may come as a big shock, but not all of us whine like petulant children when we dont get our way, and still manage to treat staff with basic respect even when our toy is broken.

Hey guys! Thanks for hanging in there during this morning's maintenance. We're beginning to wrap up PC and PS4, but Xbox maintenance is still ongoing. We'll let you know when we're getting close to opening some of the servers.

Going forward, if a hot fix is needed on the weekend, it would be appreciated if you simply implemented the hot fix and left full maintenance for Monday or Tuesday per usual. You infringe on your customer base far less by doing so. Remember, you ran the numbers when picking the maintenance times. We now have not only had the start of our weekend impacted, but we will have to deal with any potential problems for the rest of the weekend where as normally this would only impact our Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Thank you for your work and dedication,
    A paying customer

Understand your frustration for sure; we try to avoid having maintenance on the weekend at all costs. We were already prepping the PC build for Monday's maintenance, but due to how patches are prepared, we needed to publish 2.6.9 during today's downtime. It's a complicated process, but the good thing is we won't need downtime for maintenance on Monday at least.

    and the problem is?

Don't think they're gonna say. Repeated questions managed to get us a repeat "we had something to fix". With Zos history of being tight on communication it could be anything from a simple fix, crown crate prep, or a complete security breach. We'll never know

then, it seems they dont know what they doin themselves.

Well, if they take the servers offline permanently I at least wouldn't be paying not to play so I think I'd at least be "crying" less and would feel less entitled to access it on my gaming days considering I'm no longer paying for it.

I do apologize if me feeling I'm entitled to play something on my gaming days when I pay for the privilege to do so offends you. Because I do feel entitled, since you know.... I'm paying.

Correct you are paying, you are also agreeing to the Terms of Service which states that they can take the game down and do maintenance anytime they need or want to do so. So if you feel like complaining about something you agreed to, then i suggest you take your money elsewhere instead of the same people every damn week coming here and complaining about the same thing.

Do you? Calling the "avoided" maintenance on monday a "good thing" in this discussion raises serious doubts. Most people writing here said they don't care about monday downtimes because they will be away, working.

"due to how pateches are prepared" and "it is a complicated process" ... perhaps you should think about your processes then? Others have proven that preparing hotfixes at any time IS possible. There are things like source control, aotomated build processes, feature and hotfix branches, automatic merges in source trees, and so on.

Furthermore, you had an obvious choice: postpone that planned patch for one week, and just do the hotfix. Nothing in the patch notes is urgent.

I'm in the software business as well, and I know there are emergencies, and sometimes ugly bugs show up. Finally the customers decide if and when they are p***** off, and when. You can only try to make your product and processes as comfortable as possible to please your customers. What happened here today was far from optimal. Rethink your build and distribution processes and start to learn from your mistakes.

If everyone simply took their money elsewhere instead of complaining when a service they are paying for is interrupted then I fear you'd have nothing to play. Airing a grievance is necessary if you want to see something changed or prevent it from happening again. I'm sorry you are one of those that sits back and accepts what ever the situation is even if it affects you and others negatively, not everyone is like that. I'm sorry you don't understand how these things work. I pity you as well for not understanding there was plenty Einstein complained about and tried to change/prevent as well.

I guess they are altering the drop rate of Sharpened weapons from vma that has been unusually high since double drops

I am so afraid you might be actually right, especially since ZOS is so quiet regarding this hotfix. Yesterday I did 5 runs in vMA and I noticed that the traits of both weapons from the final chest was always the same... I mean the trait of the first weapon was the same as the trait of the second weapon. That's why I got 4 sharpened weapons, including bow and lighting staff (no inferno though....), 2 precise weapons and 2 defending.

When is Xbox coming back up..?

There's currently an issue with Xbox Live (https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status) that is preventing us from completing maintenance on Xbox NA and EU. Once the issue with Xbox Live is resolved, we will wrap up our maintenance.

just to say it was needed is not enough. i did not have any problems at this point. at least that i could see. so why could you not wait until monday?

What they said is all you are likely to get. They really don't have the level of relationship with the community that would have them giving us information about fixes that we don't need to know. They are certainly under no obligation to do so.

We did learn one thing today, though. We learned that they have a single patch pipeline and that "hotfixes" are added to the patch in the pipe and delivered as a single event. They can't just set aside the "routine patch" because this sort of "hotfix" comes along.

Can everyone stop moaning like [snip] kids and let these poorly paid coders fix the issues instead of replying and dealing with extra stuff thats taking thier time away from fixing it? Id be playing WoW again if I used my PC but we all love these games where we can be an orc and stuff...fight goblins, whatever...if a better game came out and offered the same stuff we'd go to that in a heartbeat, dont kid yourself...but there isnt anything so we are here waiting like the nerds we are.
