Hey guys! Thanks for hanging in there during this morning's maintenance. We're beginning to wrap up PC and PS4, but Xbox maintenance is still ongoing. We'll let you know when we're getting close to opening some of the servers.

Going forward, if a hot fix is needed on the weekend, it would be appreciated if you simply implemented the hot fix and left full maintenance for Monday or Tuesday per usual. You infringe on your customer base far less by doing so. Remember, you ran the numbers when picking the maintenance times. We now have not only had the start of our weekend impacted, but we will have to deal with any potential problems for the rest of the weekend where as normally this would only impact our Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Thank you for your work and dedication,

Understand your frustration for sure; we try to avoid having maintenance on the weekend at all costs. We were already prepping the PC build for Monday's maintenance, but due to how patches are prepared, we needed to publish 2.6.9 during today's downtime. It's a complicated process, but the good thing is we won't need downtime for maintenance on Monday at least.

Patch notes are up, and I don't see ANYTHING in there that justifies the downtime at all. Maybe add the "hotfix" to the patch notes? It looks like the notes prepared for the regular monday patch, and someone just forgot to add the one fix that caused all this uproar?

A little more respect for the customers, please.

There ARE other games around, and people at ZOS should realize that we the players have choices. You at ZOS don't. Your jobs and income depends on the game. Make this game great again or people will leave.

No, whatever it is that forced the hotfix, it is not in the patch notes. It is likely something we would not associate with something happening in the game. Obviously, it impacted all 6 servers.

Why hotfix today? Obviously it was urgent enough to do now, and not wait 2 more days. What people tend forget is that they don't do anything on short notice. Whatever this hotfix was, it likely took them 2 or 3 days to isolate, fix, and test. That they were not willing to add a couple days to that speaks to the seriousness of the fix.

As for why do the patch today? It is apparent that there is a 4-6 hour duration for all changes on the server. The hotfix was estimated at 4 hours, the patch only added 2 estimated hours. As has been noted, a Monday patch would have been an additional 4-6 hour maintenance.

The problems I see with this Patch already:

#1 Aetherial Dust is very rarely found on the resource nodes in certain zones - it can appear on ore, raw cloth, fallen wood, alchemical herbs and mushrooms, and water sources. It is not found on monsters.

Great Zos.... More Bots getting added to the farming :( Zos, Why don't you just come out and admit Bots are allowed on this game?

#2 Both the Aetheric Cipher and Aetherial Dust are unbound, meaning that they can be traded and sold from one player to another.

I can see the first people who get lucky and get this item to price them for 1M gold :(

From what I have been seeing on this forum lately , they may not have anyone left on the game but BOTS if they keep up like this.

And thanks ZOS for laying it out for us. The downtime over the weekend sucks, but hey... it's not like ESO is the focal point of my life, nor my drug. That would be caffeine and nicotine :D . I'm off to watch England take on the Springboks.

Okay, so this wasn't just a hot fix then. Something happened or is going to happen that required altering your intended timeline. As a 3D modeler, animator, and programmer that has been involved in projects similar in scope I understand how complicated this process can be.

I would like to see the long version of this. WHY DID YOU NEED TO TO IT IN THE WEEKEND???

just to say it was needed is not enough. i did not have any problems at this point. at least that i could see. so why could you not wait until monday?

Well that's a lie... because you didn't fix it immediately did you?

You still managed to hold off fixing it until a time where NA players would be least affected by your decision and instead the majority of EU players were unable to play on a Saturday.

It makes perfect sense that if that vague something that required an immediate hotfix relied on whatever changes were being implemented during Monday's maintenance that the whole shebang needed to be performed at once.

What doesn't make sense is not simply stating why everyone was put out like this unless it was something someone did that was incredibly stupid

Old timers will remember when Larry used to accidentally take down the EU server when it was time to take down the NA one, and vice versa.
