This has been the case for quite sometime now. I have made these cases, but for whatever reason the devs won't address shields.

We have a CP star that increases damage to them, and they keep upping damage every patch but shields are not scaling along with the increase in damage due to power creep for gear and increasing CP.

Even with 50k magicka, damage shield should be obsolete completely in PVP in the next 3 updates if the power creep continues as even 50k magicka won;t be enough for a shield to last more then 1 hit and for its casting cost it will simply no longer make sense to even bother using them...in PVP anyways.

Right now with 43k Max Magicka, 84 points into Bastion, and 44 points in bother Elemental Defender and Hardy give sme around a 12.1k damage shield in PVP that is good for exactly 1 hit from any proper stam build, and with all these proc builds this means damage will bleed through your sheilds(say a hit does 10k damage and you only have a 6 k sheild then 4 k gets though and that 4k can crit)

But hey....Major Evasion just keeps getting better and better with cheaper cost, a set that makes dodge better(Crusader), and more damage to those stam skills.

At this point, there is simply no way to make mag builds competitive open world(Im not taking about duels im talking about open world pvp) in the games current state.

All the mobility options for magic classes are nerfed(Bolt Escape, Major Expedition(Used to be 40% not its 30%) while Stam builds get cheaper sprint, faster sprint, can dodge roll, break free, etc pretty much perpetually and they get immunity to roots and snares for dirt cheap in comparison to magic purge(which won't give immunity)

Right now magicka is only good for support roles and large groups...you don't have the mobility to run around alone, you don't have the bust stam has, and sheilds are garbage compared to dodge and major evasion.....the only thing magic Sorc is good for now is being a Negate monkey in a group...and maybe using the Destro ultimate in some pain train.

The only magic build that is even competitive in Cyrodiil right now is the Magicka Templar and its only competive because it doesn't due in 2 seconds to the proc meta and has a few attacks that can't be dodged by major evasion and they can be pretty tanky...outside of that...meh

If you want to play a sorc, roll a stam sorc...its better then Mag sorc was even at launch in 2014...even the Infinite Negate Sorcs of the early days could move and output the damage Stma Sorc does..its comical really...but hey....thats the game for ya.

Not as bad as a set proc.

The buff certainly hurts tanky mag DK builds more than others. Sorcs still can't frag us unless they catch us unaware or Cc'd, but Curse gets through. It does make it hard for a mDK to handle competent sorc pressure because it's hard to get in melee range with them to get a heal.

Not gonna complain about it tho; mag sorcs needed the buff.

We did, and careful of insta-cast frags. Those can hurt like a beach (mine hit fairly hard.)
