Have you seen the posts expressing concern that a crown-only motif might make it possible for people with more real world cash to make more in-game cash? I feel like that's a pretty valid concern.Daz_dingoeb17_ESO wrote: »Since the showcase several people asked if the motif is gonna be a crown store exclusive and if yes why but still no one has answered.
We need a clarification to that and if that is the case indeed everyone should be against it. Cause even if many people don't like the appearance of this motif they should keep in mind that probably stalhrim motif is gonna be crown exclusive too. And it goes downhill from there with separating crafters online to the ones having all in game motifs and those who were willing to pay the ones available only on the crown store.
My Proposes are those:
- make it a costume instead
- make it work like imperial style transmogrification for our current gear
- make it tradeable so even people in game can buy it somehow
Making it tradeable would end up with people paying irl $ for gold. There is a reason crown store items are bound.
I have never seen so many people get so wound up over cosmetics in a game.
The rare triple-post, seen here in its natural habitat.
Also people are wound up over cosmetics, they are wound up over ZOS's monetization strategy. The Breton Hero Costume rage was people wound up over cosmetics.
I honestly don't understand why people care. If you don't want to spend your money on it then don't.
No reason to compassion because someone else is willing to spend money to obtain the motif. As long as the stay with cosmetics and convenience items like they have been then it really does not matter. People are wound up over cosmetics.
* spits coffee * WAT? We are the ones paying said payroll, we have every right to be concerned with how we are being asked to spend money here. We are the freaking customers!People should not be concerned with their monetization strategy, they are not on the payroll.
As I already said once in this thread, we are on the forum for this game and it was put here specifically so that we could discuss the game amongst ourselves and with the devs. Debating the merits of what they offer us for sale and how they do it could be considered one of the major reasons this forum exists. But it is also not your responsibility to tell them how they can and can not make money.

Yeah. This is really just a seriously low blow to crafters if true. Buy this expensive motif, but jokes on you, since you can change the look of dropped gear you'll be greatly limited on set choices.DocFrost72 wrote: »MyNameIsElias wrote: »Update for anyone wondering, i asked gina today in twitch chat if this motif will be available to get in game, and this was the reply (like she mentions, there will be a comment from her about it soon!)

At this time? Very strange wording there. Assuming all this is in fact confirmed by Gina later, boo Zeni.

If they're planning to make it available in-game at some point in the future, they really really need to make that clear before the motif shows up in the crown store. People should know going into things that their options are either buy it now for real money or be patient and get it later in-game. Not be passively manipulated into buying the motif for real money because they think this is their only chance to obtain it.
Of course, getting people to spend real money on it now is probably more beneficial to their pockets...
So, you not only have to buy the motif, you have to buy mimic stones as well?
The Grim Harlequin is going to be exclusive to the Crown Store. However, purchasing the Grim Harlequin will net you 54 Mimic Stones, which you can use to craft gear (including the Grim Harlequin). You can use this crafted gear to deconstruct and have a chance to get a Grinstone - the Grim Harlequin style item. All this can be traded, too, if you wish.

It is exclusive.

This is the beginning of the end for master Crafters all around tamriel. It was a good 2 year run but now it seems crafters will have to choose between buying stuff they like from the crown store or buy stuff they need in game to be competitive in their craft.
Such a low move on Zos part. Plus the fact that you can only craft it with mimic stones is a sad excuse to make us buy them.
I hope crafters are smarter than that and avoid this like the plague but since people will want to make money out of it they will buy it like sheep. Its all a matter of psychology. There will always be the marketing team targeting those fools. Well i dont intend to be one of those this time around im sorry.

See, as a crafter myself, I'm very torn on this. On the one hand, I really want to tell ZOS to buzz off with the idea of a crown store exclusive motif. On the other hand though... it would bother me tremendously to see a style on the UI that I can't craft because I was too stubborn to pay for enough crowns (That I can sparingly afford) to buy the motif and be able to make it for my friends. I don't know what to do between those two thoughts.

I'm skipping it, but my reasons may not work for you: collecting Motifs gives me a reason to play the game. Press button -> get Motif does not fulfill that purpose; as a rule I don't even buy Motifs with in-game gold, I'm certainly not going to do it with real money. I'll save my Crowns for DLCs after I cancel my sub.
