Obtaining Bahraha gear

I spent the weekend doing thieves DLC quests trying to get some specific pieces (Defending 1h and infused shield) I also checked all the guild vendors and the shield I found once for 40k and a 1h defending mace for 35K. I can't afford that kind of cost. At this point I am tempted to use the head/shoulders (which I have) to parent with the jewlery. I don't have any monster sets anyway to compete with those spots. Anyway, does anyone know if the main quest line of the thives guild would gaurantee the 1h + shield or is that completely random? Also, it can't be farmed right? only from the quests? I had misread a post about farming delve bosses and wasted hours. I did get 4 motifs and if they sell I can buy that shield lol.

What platform are you on?

I did a run between all the guild traders on PC NA and had 7 pieces of infused Bahraha's in a couple of hours, to allow for variation in which pieces I include for set. Paid about 1-2k per piece, with a couple of 5k pieces where I wanted them fast rather than cheap.

I am on PC/NA. Was that recently? I heard that when Dark Brotherhood came out the set stopped dropping and it was only available via quests, which brought the rarity way up.

Quests are the only method, including repeatable heists, as far as I am aware.
There is no way to be sure of a specific trait for the set as far as I am aware, not sure about pieces but they seem pretty random to me.

I'm PCNA. Found the jewelry was cheap under 2k each. I might have found the feet for about 5k and got a bit hammered on the shields 15-25k each.

Yeah, this was in the last couple of weeks. Are you using things like AwesomeGuildTrader to limit guild traders to the exact gear you're looking for and quickly tab through? You may be right that 1h and shield are harder to track down. Looking at it, I've mostly seen an abundance of armor.

I don't seem to be recording traits for offline viewing but Ethereal Traders Union II and Glory Guts and Gold guild traders had maces around the 7k mark recently. Maybe terrible traits, though. I get piles of Bahraha's through Heists and now that I've got my set I tend to decon it because I can put more expensive things in guild trader slots that sell faster.

Does the other set you're wearing have a sword and board you can get cheaper and throw on more Bahraha's armor?

I filled up 2 mules with Bahrahas when it was dropping like crazy and no one wanted it, been slowly selling it off here and there, dont have any shields though, they seem to be the rarest item of the set I guess.
Well I do have one shield I had to buy when i was using this set, bound now of course.

This is for a Magicka NB Ultigen tank build I am working on. I think what I will do for now is build my Tavya set: legs, hands, belt, feet and chest. Then use head/shoulder for Bahraha + 3 jewelry. Then go for a crafted 2 piece set for 1h and shield. I will continue doing the quests and if I get the 1h / Shield I can switch to a monster set like blood spawn on head/shoulders.

Now I feel bad. That was prob my 40k shield that sold. And it sold within 30 min. They are very popular shields. I do the heists everyday to get Thieves guild motifs and a chance for a shield now.

Is there a reason not to use Tava's 1H/Shield which is easier to acquire and put Bahraha's on the easier to find pieces? Even if you can't make the 5 piece on your back bar (I run sword and board on both bars when I want ultigen so always have the set made), you shouldn't lose too much ultimate unless you're splitting time between the bars significantly.
