Response comes straight from Ezareth when I asked months ago,

"The damage reduction should be multiplicative with bastion though so either one (referencing hardy vs ele defender) is fine. Damage shields have always stacked with reduction passives."

I would probably recommend Hardy though only because if you run harness magicka then you have your spell dmg covered.
Sorry for the necromancy, but does this hold true in the post-DB meta?

Yeah, post DB you only really need 77 or less pts into Bastion, depending on your level of comfort with our shield strength. I think I have 60-something bastion.

Going to test this out for BS Templar. It's possible the above number is what you want for any shield.

Tested it. But I'm not going to share my results ;).

    I think you just did.

Plot twist: BS doesn't need bastion at all. ;)

Back to the drawing board then....don't call it a comeback? I loved my BS Templar, but respec'd to try something else. If this is for real, I need to go re-tinker.

    My comment was tongue-in-cheek lol.

    BS?

I'd point out that without any bastion, your hardened ward is about 8-9K instead of 12K.

I know 3K isn't much, but it's an uncritable 3K, and it helps give you a second to refresh the shield.

I tested nord defense about 6months ago and it also took effect ahead of the shield.

Does anyone know if vampire mist form mitigates damage to healing ward? (@ me)

I was thinking of using it like healing ward and stealth on my DK so I can go bursty with mobility and survival. Just pop out of mist before the heal hits. I just...can't seem to get past how ugly I would look as a vamp. ...Why am I carebearing?

Is this intended? They took the magic mitigation off annulment because of it applying to other shield layers so maybe it's a bug?

I have tried this. Tough part is that mist form doesn't work as it should -- i.e. you aren't immune to snares/roots like the skill says. The few seconds you get from a bolt escape or a cloak are really powerful for protecting your shield and starting your DPS rotation again. I haven't had as much playtime lately, but I have been theory-crafting a new DK build destro/resto in order to get your damage up higher than is possible on Sw/sh
