Ultimate PVP gear for Stamina Nightblade?

Spearpoint

I'm having a hard time deciding what gear to use for my cute Bosmer Stamina Nightblade in Cyrodiil. She's currently at Level 50 with 188CP, and the weapon of her choice is the CP160 Prismatic Long Bow. Her choice of backup weapon is 2H. Right now she's packing a Mace of Agility on the second action bar.

TL;DR: Stamina NB. Bosmer. Bow/2H. What traits should I have on a set of Hunding's Rage for PvP? For chest, legs, hands, feet and shoulder. Impenetrable? Divines? Infused? A mix?

While reading countless builds on this topic for the last month or so, I have been testing most abilities to discover how I like - and being able - to play.

My challenges lies within how she should be geared towards high sustained DPS, and the ability to eliminate a target as fast as possible - both in group and occasionally 1v1.

I've decided to go for five pieces of the Hunding's Rage Set. They will cover chest, waist, legs, boots and hands. The chest will probably be Heavy and the waist Light, for the Undaunted Mettle Passive. I'm having trouble surviving in Cyrodiil.

I want the head and shoulder to be free to for either a Monster Set or combine head, shoulder and weapon for three parts of set. The Guardian Engine Set seems good for the survivability.

My main challenge is which traits I should choose for the Hunding's Rage Set.
I understand that Impenetrable is prefered for PvPing, but isn't Impenetrable rather for defence against builds equal to what I'm aiming for, rather than offense? Is fully Divines the best way to go, or partially Divines/Infused? Any other traits I should consider for the purpose of doing as much damage as possible in Cyrodiil, while not being a pure glasscannon?

I want to embrace the stealthy archer of my Bosmer, to focus on eliminating the target within a few strikes. Mainly as a part of PvP group, and take out one enemy at a time. Hopefully it'll also be possible to best my opponent in a 1v1 duel, maybe even a 1v2. This will be where the 2H will come especially in handy.

Weapons:
Is it okay to hang on to my current weapon, at least untill or if I get Bow and/or 2H versions of Maelstrom Master Weapons? Should I enchant the weapons with Weapon Damage Enchant?
I'll improve them to Gold when I have acquired my weapons of desire - of which is still unknown to me at this moment.

Apparel:
Even though I should go 0/7/0 (light/medium/heavy) for maximazing Stamina Recovery and DPS (damage per second), I feel 1/5/1 will be better for surviving out on the battlefield, as this can grant up to 6% increase in max Health, Stamina and Magicka.
  • Head: Medium. Open for Monster Set swithing and tweeking, or combined with shoulders and active weapon. Options are Ashen Grip, Night Mother's Gaze, Night's Silence/Morkuldin (same bonus from three pieces). Dreugh King Slayer is also a option due to adding Weapon Damage twice. Using Dreugh King Slayer will make the setup more expensive, but more powerful when it comes to raw Weapon Damage. Even though they only come as Heavy Armour. If going that route I'll take advantage of my current Mace of Agility and combine the mace with two Rings of Agility, and use a Helm, Cuirass and Greatsword of the Dreugh King Slayer. These will be bought from Guild Stores if the price isn't too bad. In this situation I should also aim (woops) for a Bow of Agility to complement the full potential of Agility Jewelry regardless of the momentary choice of weapon.
  • Shoulders: Medium. Open for Monster Set, or combined with head and active weapon. Same as above.
  • Hands: Medium Bracers of Hunding's Rage. Hands are not considered among the largest parts, so maybe Divines trait on this?
  • Legs: Medium Guards of Hunding's Rage. Legs are not considered among the largest parts, so maybe Divines trait on this?
  • Chest: Heavy Cuirass of Hunding's Rage. Chest is considered the largest part, so Infused on this?
  • Waist: Light Sash of Hunding's Rage. Waist is considered the smallest part, so Divines on this?
  • Feet: Medium Boots of Hunding's Rage. Feet are not considered among the largest parts, so maybe Divines trait on this?
I'll improve all Apparel to Gold when I have acquired my gear of desire - of which is still unknown to me at this moment.

Jewelry:
- Necklace of Endurance. Purple, with purple Weapon Damage Enchant.
- Ring of Endurance. Purple, with purple Weapon Damage Enchant.
- Ring of Endurance. Purple, with purple Weapon Damage Enchant.

Maybe one of the above jewelry should be enchanted with Stamina Recovery instead. I will figure out if I need better sustain and survivability through Stamina Recovery when my setup is completed.

Mundus Stone - Potential candidates: Any input on wich Mundus Stone to go with are well recieved! I'm leaning towards Warrior for most burst damage, or Serpent for sustained damage and survivability. How much will this matter - anyone? Choosing the Mundus Stone will probably depend of which traits the Hunding's Rage will have.

Abilities - main action bar; mainly sniping:
  1. Relentless Focus.
  2. Double Take. Great dodge buff, as well as increased speed. I prefer this over Shuffle due to the speed bonus, and that it cost magic instead of Stamina.
  3. Lethal Arrow. Long range sniping with debuff and DoT. Might be switched out for Focused Aim for potential even longer range.
  4. Resolving Vigor. Heal yourself and nearby allies.
  5. Dark Cloak. Great for "oh ***" moments, and to removes DoTs (damage over time) effects. Lifesaver.
Ultimate: Flawless Dawnbreaker. Mostly for the passive effect.

The abilities for the first action bar works good together, but I find myself switching Lethal Arrow with Bombard for some times. I haven't really unlocked Dawnbreaker yet, so I'm mostly using Bolstering Darkness for this bar, as my defensive "oh crap" moments. A few times I go with Werewolf Transformation for the Stamina Recovery while in a large group.

My main bar is for sniping and escaping. Abilites with magic cost is reserved for invisibility/escapes.

Abilities - second action bar; mainly close combat:
  1. Executioner. Drop on enemy when below 50% health.
  2. Ambush. Playing ninja turtle.
  3. Surprise Attack. Bread and butter. Spam for good DPS and large enemy debuff.
  4. Rally. Damage buff and self heal with great healing climax.
  5. Mass Hysteria. CC.
Ultimate: Incapacitating Strike. Offensive Ultimate.

My second bar is for buff/heal (before every engage) and close combat. The abilities for the second action bar works good together. No need to change these as of today.

I am in not manner an expert when it comes to the content of this post. I might have one or multiple aspects and/or facts wrong (I see them as facts untill proven otherwise). If I do so, I'ld be very grateful for anyone to correct me, and I'll change the content thereafter according to the new information given. This applies to the spelling as well. English is not my mother tongue.
I am, as with this build as well, always stribing for improvements. And I consider constructive feedback - including critism - as the most effective way to improve myself. It all comes down to how you deal with it. Alright, enough Ghandi for tonight...

Turns out this looks almost more like a small guide (though still not) for the ones new to this content. I hope it can be of help to someone, just a tiny bit compared to all the help I've found in the many, many articles on this forum. Ehm, yeah, if anyone could point me in a direction for trait for my Hunding's Rage armour, that'ld be fantastic! Absolutely all input are well recieved!

At the beginning, I ment for this to be a simple question, but as it turns out; things doesn't always goes as planned. And neither does the action in Cyrodiil. Okay, now I'm done. Thanks for reading!

Gear should be mainly Impen. I use 5 Impen, 1 Infused, and 1 Well-Fitted.
Also, should try to find you some Marksman Jewelry, Bow, and Maul. Using those as a 4 PC instead of a 3 PC Endurance and voided weapon since no Maelstrom weaps will be a big improvement. Plus, Marksman is an awesome addition to Hundlings since it has high recov. You'll also be able to run Weap Dmg Enchants on your Marksmen Jewelry. Weapon traits should be Sharpened.

Monster sets most beneficial to what you're going for would be 1 PC Kena/1 PC Bloodspawn. EG would be good too. Another option if you don't have those sets would be to either add another Marksmen PC + 1 BS/Kena or to go with 2 PC Leki's.

I like the Serpent Atro best.

    Can this work?

    Head: Kena or BS
    Shoulder: Marksman's Crest
    Hands: Hunding's Rage
    Legs: Hunding's Rage
    Chest: Hunding's Rage
    Waist: Hunding's Rage
    Feet: Hunding's Rage

    Neck: Marksman's Crest
    Ring: Marksman's Crest
    Ring: Marksman's Crest

    Bow: Marksman's Crest

    2h: Any spesific?

And again - what traits for everything?

Absolutely can work. I would use Marksmen 2H as well since you don't have Maelstrom Weapons. The 5 PC bonus still gives 5% cost reduction. Like I said, Impen should be on most if not everything. I like having one infused on my guy though, cause I too run a Bosmer so max stam is a little harder to come by. Another thing of note is that infused is even better if you plan on running 7 medium instead of 5/1/1. This is a preference thing though. You get more recovery/crit/etc. from running 7 medium, while you get more max stats from using the 5/1/1 Undaunted Mettle.

Maul ignores more armor and Sword gives a flat dmg bonus.

I still don't get why Impenetrable is considered so overall good i PvP. For defensive build - I get it. But for an pure offensive build - I don't get it.
    Can someone explain why?

Looks like I'm going for 0/7/0 then. Probably Outlaw motif too, as that looks close to the Nightingale Armour I endorsed so much.

Impen stacks with Resiliant CP, if you run 7x legendary impen with something like 30 CP into Resiliant you'll have roughly 2500 crit resist. The cap for crit resist is 3300, so 33 crit resist reduces crit dmg by 1%.

This translates to 75% crit dmg reduction.

With all the passives and CP most players have roughly 50% crit chance and 60% crit dmg modifier.

A normal attack that deals 8k dmg will crit for 12.8k dmg.
    On average 50% of the attacks will crit which makes the average dmg: 8k x 0.5 + 12.8k x 0.5 = 10.4k (without impen)

With 2500 crit resistance the 60% crit dmg modifier will be reduced to 15%.
A normal attack that deals 8k dmg will now only crit for 9.2k dmg.
With such low crit dmg the average dmg will also drop significantly: 8k x 0.5 + 9.2k x 0.5 = 8.6k (with impen)

This means you take roughly 17% less dmg for players.

Its also important to remember that burst is the most dangerous factor in pvp. By reducing incoming crit dmg you're reducing the burst dmg you take which gives you more time to restore your health.

Here's what I'm using. Did it this way because of what I already had + what I wanted.

    Jewelry:
    1 neck of agility (robust)
    1 ring of agility (robust)
1 vicecannon of venom ring (robust)

    Weapon:
    Greatsword of agility
    Bow of agility

    Armor:
    5 pieces hunding rage
    2 pieces vicecannon

    Stone: Warrior (weapon dmg)

    This end's up being:
3 agility set (weap dmg + stamina)
5 hunding's rage set (weap dmg + stamina + critical)
3 vicecannon of venom (weap dmg + stamina)

And you also get a very good critical rate.

So far I've been having a great time on cyrodiil ganking. And can manage pretty well with 1v2 or 1v3 sometimes. You have a great dmg, lot of stamina and I can hit with lethal arrow for 8-12k normally (depending on target). I only have 340 CPs.

I use almost the same skills as you do, except I have the medium armor buff instead of double take and poison arrow instead of mass hysteria, and I use Shadowy disguise instead of dark cloak (use SD and then a leathal arrow and it's 100% critical. Great for ganking).
My "crowd control" is for 1v1 mainly. When doing 1v1 I start by charging a bow heavy attack, followed by a poison injection. That stuns the target. I inmediatly switch to greatsword and ambush + incapacit strike (this knocks down) and I end with the light attack + executioner. 90% of the time works. The other 10%, just cloak, and retry. And if you still can't then just choose another target

There isn't a best PvP set up, but some builds can excel compared to others depending on what it is you want to do.

I always use 5/1/1 for the undaunted passive and plan on trying something different with the DB update (I'm on console)

    x5 Hundings (all impen)
    x1 Bloodspawn (divines)
    x1 Kena (divines)
    x3 agility

I'd be using maelstrom weapons but don't have them yet. And like said Marksman can be a good, I think it's stronger than hundings when using a bow, but when you swap to the 2h hundings will be better.

The other build I plan to try is:

    x5 Morag Tong (4armor 1necklace)
x3 Agility (2 rings and bow)
    x5 Eternal Hunt (3armor 2swords)

But we'll see how that works out.

Alright, thanks for the all the tips.

    I'm going for 5x Hunding's Rage, 5x Marksman's Crest, and a Monster piece.
Monster shoulders untill I find or buy a Marksman's shoulder piece, as all I found today were Marksman's Impenetrable headpiece.

    Marksman's Bow with Sharpened.
Marksman's Battle Axe with Precise untill I find a mace with Sharpened.

Marksmans's Necklace and two rings. All robust. Not yet enchanted with physical damage, but I have the glyphs banked. Should probably enchant them.

Again - the traits of the Hundings' set are bothering me.. I finally have 1k Rubedo Leather, so I'm ready to make the set.

After the explanation from @Septimus_Magna I'm really considering all Impenetrable. Really appreciates the input by the way!
Probably all medium for recovery/crit/etc. I don't even have access to Undaunted Mettle yet.
When I'm giving it second thoughts, I'm actually getting ganked myself more than I like

How is full Impenetrable vs full Infused?

Full infused is bad you only need it on 3 pieces which is Head chest and legs to get the most out of your enchants.Full Impen is way better in the long run.

I currently use 5 marksmen and 5 hundings ( or switch hundings with shield breaker) and I would do small pieces impen only and big pieces infused or divines. But invest 30 points or so in crit resist cp

I'm surprised there are no Vicecannon builds. The perks on that looked decent, for a ganker.

Yeah don't go full infused. If you really don't want to run full impen, do infused on large pieces, divines small. But like Sep pointed out, impen is really valuable. It's going to help you survive burst damage which is what is actually dangerous in Cyrodiil. Your vigor/rally will keep you alive through sustained damage, but it's the burst that will kill you. Impen helps with that. The only case where I would not have any impen is if you're a straight ganker and depend on maximum possible damage. I didn't see you mention that as your primary playstyle, so I'd also recommend at least 5 pc impen, with 20-40 points in Resistant CP star.

Hehe, thanks a lot! I think I was filled with adrenalin throught the whole writing of this post, and simply took advantage of that :) Though I hoped for great answers like yours and a lot of others here, spreading your knowledge, the thought behind all the links were to make it easier for the people that are here to benefit from your knowledge, and learn. Making the relevant information as easily accessible as possible.

Thanks also for giving short and good examples like this: "The only case where I would not have any impen is if you're a straight ganker and depend on maximum possible damage." This kind of tips/information can quickly turn out to be the most effective and valuable information. As of that, I'll not not choose full Impenetrable :) Cheers! ...Might read that sentence twice.

It seems that if you actually choose to trait some gear with Divines, it should at least be 3 pieces. That would inferfere with having at least 5 pieces of Impenetrable.

Huge thanks for all the help, tips and advices everyone towards PvP build! +1 to all!

Already got with Marksman's Bow, 2H, Shoulders (Impenetrable), Necklace, Ring and Ring. Jewelry Weapon Damage enchanted.

Is 5x Skirmisher a good idea? It gives you more weapon damage and crit than hundings. But you need to dodge roll to get these for 4 seconds. You also get max stamina and stamina recovery which is extremely useful.

Skirmisher is a great set mostly for PvP, especially now that it has jewelry. Really depends on your play style whether or not it would work for you. If you roll dodge a lot then definitely use it. If you're more of a "stand your ground" type of player it's not meant to be.

On my Bow/2H NB I run this:
    5x Marksman (3 jewelry, 1 armor, 1 bow)
5x Hundings or 5x Alchemist, preferably Hundings as Alchemist gets expensive fast. (4 armor, 1 greatsword)
    1x Molag Kena
    1x Blood Spawn

For the armor, I run 3 Impen (make up for this with CP), 4 Divines
For the Bow and Sword, SHARPENED.
    Shadow Mundus
    7 Medium Armor

I don't run well-fitted with the new update only cause of the Recov of Bosmer and the Medium Armor passives. I run Well-Fitted on my HEAVY ARMOR DPS/TANK DK.

    2H bar:
    Ambush
    Surprise Attack
    Rally
    Camouflaged Hunter
    Executioner
SOUL HARVEST (OR WHATEVER THE UPDATED ONE WAS)

    Bow bar:
    Focused Aim
    Razor Caltrops
    Merciless Resolve
    Resolving Vigor
Shadowy Disguise (for the guaranteed crit)

So I am finally just a few hours away from finishing researching the last trait for the last piece of Hunding's.

Does anyone have any thoughts regarding Truly Superb Glyph of Stamina vs Truly Superb Glyph of Prismatic Defense?
Both Legendary, on Legendary Medium apparel.

My final thoughts were as following:

Marksman's Bow and Mace. Both Legendary. Both Sharpened. Still the stock Enchantment (Should this be switched for Weapon Damage?)
Hunding's Rage Chest, Legs, Hands, Feet, and Waist. All medium. All Impenetrable. With Marksman's Crest Head or Shoulder along with one Monster Piece. And enchant everything with Max Stamina.

Practically, would I gain much from swapping Hunding's Impenetrable Chest and Legs (Max Stamina Enchanted) for Hunding's Infused Chest and Legs (Tri-stat Enchanted)?

Or should I even mix everything up and go Hunding's Infused Tri-stat Chest, Legs and Helmet? Along with one Marksman's Max Stamina Impenetrable Piece, one Monster Piece and the rest Hunding's Max Stamina Impenetrable pieces? I'm not very keen on the last one, however. As I want to be able to keep Hunding's as my main set while mixing with different types of Weapon, Jewelry and Monster Sets.

I must admit, prior to trying this whole Marksman's/Hunding's setup, I have had a hard time suriving in Cyrodiil.

All inputs are greatly appreciated <3

I have been running 5 Skirmisher, 5 Hundings, 1 kena.

The buff from rally and the Skirmisher roll is around 1k weapon damage... And it has a handy indicator of when it's safe to roll again when your arms stop glowing.

Survival is ok in Pvp at the minute, but I am still adjusting to Stam fighting. Damage is great tho running 2h.

For my stamblade/stamplar/stam sorc I use the same thing.

    1 Bloodspawn
    1 kena
    3 agility
    Random maul
    Random bow

Then swap between hunding's and eternal hunt, depending how I feel. Hunding's is all impen, eternal hunt is 2 well fitted, 3 impen. Kena and bloodspawn are impen. Everything medium.

I usually run eternal hunt to be fair. Tri stat food on it for my stamblade. I have 20k health, 15k magica, 34k stam, 3.8k weapon damage and 2700 stam regen. I know I have over 2k crit resist, don't remember exactly what though. When I swap to hunding's, a bit less regen and a bit more damage.

My bars are the same as yours op, except poison injection for snipe and shuffle instead of double take. I'm Bosmer and I'm vampire.

    I believe 6 - 1 or 7/7 are best for stamblades.

Most stamblades use almost no magicka other than blur or cloak morphs so extra magicka is pointless. Extra crit, stam regen, stam cost red & dodge roll cost red on top of sneak bonuses are too hard to pass us.

I run 6/1. I don't lose any health, because of the heavy armor 2%.

I give up 2% mag & stam for what I believe to be a superior addition to my DPS. I do go 7/7 as well but never 5-1-1.

    Everyone is different thoug.

Shadowy Disguise > Dark Cloak (especially for a ganker/sniper)

I see, thanks for the input.
    Can this work?

    Head: Kena or BS
    Shoulder: Marksman's Crest
    Hands: Hunding's Rage
    Legs: Hunding's Rage
    Chest: Hunding's Rage
    Waist: Hunding's Rage
    Feet: Hunding's Rage

    Neck: Marksman's Crest
    Ring: Marksman's Crest
    Ring: Marksman's Crest

    Bow: Marksman's Crest

    2h: Any spesific?

And again - what traits for everything?

Absolutely can work. I would use Marksmen 2H as well since you don't have Maelstrom Weapons. The 5 PC bonus still gives 5% cost reduction. Like I said, Impen should be on most if not everything. I like having one infused on my guy though, cause I too run a Bosmer so max stam is a little harder to come by. Another thing of note is that infused is even better if you plan on running 7 medium instead of 5/1/1. This is a preference thing though. You get more recovery/crit/etc. from running 7 medium, while you get more max stats from using the 5/1/1 Undaunted Mettle.

    Thanks for the enlightenment.

If money was now an issue, should I go for Truly Superb Glyph of Prismatic Defense over Truly Superb Glyph of Stamina Recovery, and go all Infused on the gear?

Everyone has 50% or more crit. If you dont run impen and put cp into crit reduction u will be butter. Your marginal gain from divines will be nothing compared to all the gain u give enemies by allowing them to melt your face before you know whats happening with unmitigated crits.

5x Viper, 3x Dreugh King slayer jewelery (the only 2 and 3 perk weapon damage out there) maelstrom 2h, Kena and Bloodspawn. Gives 4100 damage on my NB but it also gives me a free 8200 poison damage every 4s..pretty hard to beat tbh. Jewelery cost me a fortune though, 90k a ring.
