    for me
hard cc = every thing granting cc immunity [edit] without breaking them actively
soft cc = all cc types that do not do this like: root, snare, disable, fear, silence etc ...

fear and silence are both hard ccs, you can break free from them and get immunity afterwards

if you do not break them you get no immunity - while stuns e.g. give you immunity without actively breaking them that was what i ment.
Oh, didn't know that, I always break fear and if an enemy decides not to break fear, he's usually dead before the effect ends.
But then you probably should have 3 categories:
    - hard cc: grants immunity whithout breaking it (knockback, stun, knockdown, chainpull, ...)
    - medium cc: grants immunity when you break it (silence, disorient, fear, ...)
    - soft cc: can't be broken, doesn't have immunity (snare, root)

I always thought of them like this:
    1. Hard CC - Having immunity can block these: Something that takes complete control of your character like Fear, CrystalShard or Wrecking blow.
    2. Soft CC - Having immunity has no effect: Roots and snares that allow you to still attack, but with limtied mobilitly.
    3. Stun - Having immunity has no effect: Some gap closers, like ambush and such, I am not sure which ones they are. But take control away from you, but are not counter-able.

The stuns are stupid, CC immunity should allow you to counter anything that takes control of your character off of you.

Thats right all gapclosers apply a special stun for half a second that you cannot dodgeroll or break free from it also prevents any moves and it bypasses ANY immunity.

Hard CC has full frontal, where Soft CC just shows boobs and plays on Cinemax on Saturday nights.

So if I a correct every NPC uses medium or soft CCs never hard CCs I never get immunity from NB stun or WB spam NPC edition if my stamina is too low...

I'm a bit of a traditionalist, hard CC removes complete control of your character, soft CC (snares) still give you control of your character but restricts your movement or increases animation time such as stagger.
