Ok I've gotten the impression from reading various build guides that a high Weapon Damage attribute is a good thing. Now I have two sets of jewellery, Set 1 gives me 19300 Stamina and 2589 WD. Set 2 gives me 17102 Stam and 2700 WD.

Now with Set 1 equipped the description box for Wrecking Blow reads 7147 damage and for Steel Tornado it's 2396
With Set 2 equipped WB reads 6988 and ST reads 2343.

My question is - why is it not a good thing to prioritise high stamina over high WD? Is the damage described in the description for an ability somehow modified by the WD when it is actually used? (and vice versa for magicka based abilities and Spell Damage).

Am I missing something?

TIA

Edit after 10 minutes of further research - I think I've answered my own question. Using food and equipping/unequipping I've compared changing one value at a time while leaving the other one constant (Stamina and Weapon Damage).

Increasing Stamina by 26% yields an increase in Wrecking Blow damage of 10%
Increasing Weapon Damage by 19% yields the same 10% increase to WB damage.

So it appears to me that you need a bigger % increase in Stamina compared to Weapon Damage to yield the same % increase in ability damage.

This clearly explains why increasing WD is prioritised over stamina. This of course ignores any other benefits to having a higher stamina value.

Back to trying to up my DPS :/

Right, the increase to stamina increases damage and the amount of abilities cast. Weapon damage only effecting one stat should be higher (makes sense as it effects only one stat)

The question then becomes, does your increase in damage for attacks over weigh the possibility of having enough resources to cast another attack.

In a burst build where the number of attacks are limited I see the weapon damage being more important, a build maximizing resources would prefer the max stat.

    I like your post, informative
