Siphoning Attacks

Any magicka nb's giving this a shot in PvP? I've been thinking of dropping some regen on jewelry and trying to augment my magicka sustain with siphoning attacks on the buff/heal retro bar.

Anybody know if siphoning attacks procs off of crippling grasp DOT ticks? I can't seem to get the FTC combat log to show magicka gains from it so I have no clue as to how effective it is.

Siphoning Attacks can proc off the first tick of any DoT or AoE. The only exception is Caltrops, where it can possibly proc off of every tick.

Hey Scruffy, how has Siphoning Attacks been working out for you in PVP? I was considering making the same switch as you described above. Thanks!

Sadly I haven't found space for it on my back bar. I gave it a shot but it really had no discernible effect on my sustain....and I have gotten pretty good at animation canceling over the past year and half lol. Even at 15 seconds it takes a lot of concentration to keep it up at the right times. I found that I was much better off just going with relentless focus for the damage increase and stam regen rather than try and get any magicka back through SA.

Magicka nightblade here, running low on resources in fights even with regen drinks and hundreds of CP spent into reduced cost and increased magicka regen. SA really saves the day :)

Really? What are you using to proc the returns? Even with light attack weaving between concealed weapons, a crippling grasp and an occasional lotus fan, I was not seeing any decent returns.

AoEs and DoTs can only proc it on the first hit, but ground AoEs like Caltrops, Volley, Wall of Elements and Path of Darkness can proc it multiple time cause it's not DoT damage. You can try one of those. It will help a magic build more then a stamina build.

I just can't see myself using path or wall in pvp though. Caltrops is out too since I have only 10k stam. Now if SA proc'd on each DOT tick I might get enough return to make it worth while. SA is really just a PvE skill for me atm.

Sap Essence is great for multiple enemies, not only does it heal you, but there's a chance to proc your SA from each target. Try to use everything within your kit to proc SA, and if you find yourself in a fight with 100% (or close to 100%) stamina, put in bash attacks after your abilities (ie. Light Attack > Concealed Weapon > Bash). Not only does it increase your DPS (by a bit), but you'll have a chance to get even more resources back :-)

I'm pretty sure Wall of Elements and Path of Darkness (and probably Volley) can only proc it on the first tick - they are considered AoE DoTs. I remember testing Path a while back and this is how it worked, so I assume it's still the same. Caltrops is a special case, and it definitely can continually proc Siphoning Attacks.

I run SA in PvP when ever I group up I hit Volley or Path when I'm low on stamina they will both proc SA a few times times each depending on the number of people that stand in them. Volley and Twisted Path does work for this I have not tested the Fire morph cause the buff from Mighty doesn't apply. I use Twisted for bigger AoE not sure how Refreshing working on it.

Ground AoEs seem to be counted different. Not 100% of Wall but it worked the same as Twisted Path before the SA return nerf.

You have to consider the 972 regen per light/heavy as well. If you animation cancel every other ability that's roughly 972 Stam/Mag regen . Not even drink boosts regens by that much ( with a few exceptions).

When I use it, I try to look at it this way. It's 972 regen, with an added bonus of maybe getting a 1900 proc.

Yes but that when it's up when ever you need SA having it going down and being too in to the battle so notice

Sorry, this does not happen to me, ever. Besides the blatant graphical effect, I have addons for buff timers.
