Does the imperial addition allow to pick any race in any alliance?

I was thinking of upgrading to the imperial addition (not to be mistaken with the imperial city DLC)
Does it allow you to pick any race in any alliance or does only the imperial race have the freedom of being created in any alliance?

Thanks!

No, that is the Adventurer pack. You can be Imperial in any alliance without the adventurer pack though.

It only gives you the ability to be an Imperial, and the Imperial can be in any alliance. The other races are still locked to their alliances unless you also buy the upgrade that specifically gives you any race in any alliance (the explorer pack maybe? Or that might be what it was called back when it was a pre-order bonus).

Edit: ninja'd by @Gelston and it's the Adventurer pack now, not the Explorer pack!

Hmm, I have "any race any alliance" and the CE treasure maps but I definitely have the imperial edition and not the collector's edition, and I do not own the Adventurer's Pack. Forgive my faulty memory. So those were pre-order bonuses? There may be confusing info around on the web that makes it look like those features are part of the imperial edition, but they are not.

My wife and I both got Imperial Edition when it released for xbone specifically because it allowed us to play any race in any alliance. we didn't download adventurer pack or explorer pack. My son later came on board and got the imperial edition digital download and it is the same. We got the CE treasure maps (complete trash IMO). Not sure if you're pc or console, but yes, imperial edition allows playing any race/any alliance not just limited to the Imperial race.

The CE maps and any race any faction came with the Explorer Pack, which was a pre-order bonus. You got it whether you pre-ordered the standard edition or the normal Imperial edition or the collector's Imperial edition. A lot of people who didn't pre-order got it too, because the places they bought the game from had brought those copies in as pre-orders.

Of course, you can now get the any race any faction and maps with the Adventurer's pack. The Adventurer's pack is exactly the same as the Explorer's pack, except with a different pet (it was either a mudcrab or a scuttler for the Explorer's pack - I can't remember which was Imperial edition and which was Explorer, but it's a bantam guar for the Adventurer's pack).

You must have pre-ordered your Imperial Edition, or had a retailer special offer where they were selling off left-over pre-orders. The Imperial Edition, by itself, does not include the CE maps or allow Any Race, Any Alliance.
