Ungodly sorc healing. How to combat.

I'm a new console player, 2-hand/dual wield stam DK at VR2. Last night in PvP I notice a VR3 sorc off to the side of a big fight by himself so I crit rush over to him, petrify him, wrecking blow, execute, he has a sliver of life left the, bam, insta-full life. At that point he keeps hopping around peppering me. I keep getting in with crit rush and getting some damage in but the shields and his heals are making it impossible to come close to killing him. Finally three other of my faction come along and it takes the four of us way too long to kill this guy. So question is, as a stam DK how can I deal with that level of healing in one on one situation? I've looked through skills and don't see anything that really effects healing but maybe there's a morph I don't know about. Or is it that I simply don't have sufficient burst in that situation?

I'm a Templar, not a sorc, but it usually takes 2-4 people to kill me. I use 7/7 heavy armor, self heals, and all 50 points are into health. Most 1 on 1 fights I get into generally follow the same pattern when I'm attacked.

    1) Someone hits me with a massive shot out of sneak. It only does about half the damage they are used to. Usually they follow up with a second attack, and when I'm still alive panic starts to ensue. This is the first 5 seconds of the fight.
    2) I start spamming heals to regain health. This takes about 5 seconds. The attacker really can't hurt me while I'm doing this.
    3) I've survived the worst and now we're on equal footing. This is where the tables have turned. I start attacking. Mostly I mix in heavy attacks to get back resources, and keep mixing in more heals.
    4) If by the 30 second mark no one else has arrived the original attacker is toast. I'm still at full health and they aren't.

You have to understand that some people hate dying and know that the most common way to die involves getting 1 shot out of sneak. If you put together a build specifically to combat this, and have the patience to drag the fight out, then you can be very successful at PVP. Hope this helps.

So hopefully you've learned a valuable lesson-- instead of expecting to kill another player in a matter of a second or two, perhaps plan to actually fight him by using well timed damage and CC and heals (yes, you can heal yourself too!) and managing your resources.

Oh, I rarely kill anyone in a matter of seconds. I really don't even know the best burst damage for the build I'm running. Wrecking Blow is great but is so easily interruptable that it's often hard to land. If I get a chance to go one on one it usually takes a while and I'm often using Green Dragon Blood, Obsidian Shield and then hopefully Corrosive Armor when I think I can finish them. My issue in this case was I simply couldn't overcome the amount of self heals this guy was doing to himself. I even tried the standard interrupt at a couple points but his teleport (or whatever it's called) kept giving him room. I'll have to look at what I have available for range in my skills. Maybe if I could have kept some pressure up whenever he gained space it would have went differently. I was just wondering if there was a healing debuff skill that I was missing.

It is all about your build and resources management. I know alot of people are working on other classes and they will be the better players. When you know the strengths and weakness of each class you won't hesitate on what to do. Knowledge equals power in this game imo.

Sorry, that's not the right word. I guess cancel it? I know I've gotten CC'ed or something similar during the windup. Honestly I don't recognize enough of other classes skills by name yet.

On a side note how do people feel about DOTs in general? Like Burning Breath or Unstable Flame. I keep getting completely conflicting opinions on these skills.

I don't play a DK or stam build, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I've read there's a bug with WB not landing sometimes. It sounds like he wasn't doing much damage to you and mainly just shielding and teleporting? Burn up his resources by snaring him a lot and making him break free if at all possible. If all he was doing was bolting and you couldn't snare him enough, it might not be worth it at that point, but if you keep up the chase just watch your own resources so you have stuff in the tank if he does engage.

Yeah, his damage wasn't the issue. Part of the problem which you make clear is my only CC is petrify (which isn't morphed yet as I just started trying it out with the aim to go for Fossilize) which destroys my tiny magicka reserves too fast. May have respec some points into magicka.

he probably means ward ally. insane damage shield that heals you once the duration ends.

Also, fighting sorcs, especially as a melee build, is all about timing. As a DK, I make sure to have a full take flight up, reflect as much as I can back at him, wrecking blow, take flight, and execute within a matter of seconds. The best way to kill a shield stacking sorc is to stun them and burst them down as quickly as possible. If they camp mines then I use corrosive armor to blast through them, hit them with unstable flame, wrecking blow, and execute while they're down. Corrosive armor ignores 100% of physical resist and the flame dot helps while they're helpless. A ton of sorcs will use BoL or streak or whatever it is offensively to stun you and get away, which is tricky. I have enough stamina to spam immovable almost as soon as the cc immunity wears off to have it active pretty consistently during a fight, so that tactic doesn't really work that often on me, but if you stun and burst dps quick they won't have time to get away. A fight against good sorcs might take a while, you will have to look for signs that they're stamina drained, so keep hitting them with cc's, but don't spam them. Wait for the white rings to go away before using them. Keep doing damage of course, but save your cc's for when they're vulnerable to them. Noob sorcs are incredibly squishy especially while fighting with these strategies.

It's healing ward, not ward ally that can heal you for 100 % of max health.

Sorcerers stacking Hardened Ward and Healing Ward have been a problem for quite a while, there is no counter to that kind of survivability, all you can do is get some buddies to help you.

    @Thecapeo.
If he managed to raise his health to 100% after you had him at 10%-25% HP (life), some possibilities:

    1. he casted Healing Ward, which many sorcerers use, which can give him a 20k+ absorb shield (2xwrecking blow/charge attack to get it down). If you do nothing against this "red shield", it heals him for 20k+.. after 3 seconds...
--> problem is, they can cast that as often as they like to (any class can do so)
--> further problem: this shield won't be nurfed, as it's mandatory in PvE and the developers have no clue what to do against shield-stacking, some shields are stronger than the Health Points a char has... (see sorc class shield at 40k magicka/see healing ward at full %HP%bonus)

    2. he used a healing potion / 3 pot / immov. potion to get

    3. he had vampirism, which makes you stronger when you have low HP (higher dmg mitigation)

    4. some other trick.

As soon as you see any class at low HP in the red bubble/shield use your executioner as the red bubble/shield gets stronger the lower the HP!!

Well that's just not true. None of this is going to matter after the patch anyway. They are reducing shields by 50%.
