As the title says, one of the main reasons some MMO'S can get really interesting is because of the player killing system. In every Elder Scrolls game there are good guys and bad guys (criminals, murderers) who are living and spreading misery in the world, and these guys dont care about alliance wars, they just want to see the world burn.
As everyone can see we have the perfect settlement for enabling player killing since level 1, not everyone is a good guy or wants everything to be happy and unemotional. Just imagine the possiblities, gathering a group of bad guys like yourself to go out there and hunt poor people just when they were about to go hunting, then, as a vengeance, this person calls his friends and gangs up on the bad guys who wronged him in the first place,
Next I will mention a few mechanics we can have for a perfect PK system and make it work along with the justice system.
PROTECTION ZONES: Every city or small settlement of people is a protection zone, what does this mean?: A protection zone is a place where attacking a player is impossible, if a player is attempting to kill another player in a cave, but his prey escapes his grasps and makes it into a protection zone, he's safe.
White SKULL OR RECENT CRIMINAL SYSTEM: A player who killed another player cant get in a protection zone or log out for the next 15 minutes, (that's right you wont get away that easily, after having your fun)
NOTE: Anyone who kills a skulled player has no penalties for doing justice. The skull or recent criminal status doesnt go away even if you died, it will only go away after 15 minutes have passed.
Red skull Massive murderer status: Status given to players who have killed more than 10 players in the same day.the status lasts 3 days. However after killing the target you'll still be able to go in protection zones after 15 minutes have passed. Yes this means some people will create specified guilds in the name of evil
And now the avengers join the frey.
Yellow skull: Granted to players who dedicate themselves to killing criminals who slay innocent people. Yes this means some people will even create specified guilds in the name of justice .
What do you lose for dying at the hands of a player?, here's a tough one, perhaps we could have a lesser death penalty, something along the lines of losing a few coins and the other player getting them (100 - 1000 gold) depending on your level.
With that I hope everyone enjoys and embraces the idea, think about the possibilities, the fun, the immersion, the excitement we could have in ESO. outside of cyrodill
Thoughts?
