Yeah. See your statement at the end is very laughable. Let me ask you.. Do you go yelling at a cashier because of the price of an item? Or a gas station attendant for the price of gas? If you do, then you fit the mold prefecture fit how console players see pc players.

I'm not denying that you all were wronged and I definitely agree that you were paying for a crappy beta. Why are pc players so mad about the subscription. Be happy you don't have to pay it. As you said, it was likely console gamers that warranted that change.

It's pretty obvious that console gamers are more spoiled and gaming companies actions reflect this. So really.. The only people that think pc players are better are pc players. I guess that's why they have hostility towards us console games? It's not our fault companies cater to us.

Nonetheless this topic was not about who thinks their better than who, so we should just end that part of it right now and go back to topic. I don't want this thread to fall victim to the same fate as many others.

General question. Not trolling and this isn't even solely in regard to this forum alone, but forums in general. What is the point in having them? I mean we all know that the Internet is full of people who are very opinionated, most of which, myself included, can be really dense at times. That being said, I don't see the point in forums. Yeah I get it. It's a place to discus things with people that have a common interest or to gather information not covered in guides or wiki, but forums are set up with so many rules (because they have to) to go their best to prevent people's feelings from getting hurt. So why is it that you come to forums? And do you get offended by other people? I just want to have a civil discussion about our thoughts on this. There's no right or wrong answer, so there is no need to call someone out for having an opinion.

In an ideal world the forum would be a place of constructive feedback for the developers and an amiable place for players to talk amongst themselves about the positive aspects of the game . . . in practice, it is often a place where people feel entitled to give their unfiltered, emotional opinion. Also, it holds entertainment value for trollers and flamers who cannot resist starting arguments for entertainment sake. That being said though, it is still a useful place for communication from ZOS and for people to voice their concerns, but it does make it harder for the ZOS moderators to sift through all the chaff to find the seeds of true concern and merit for ESO.

It's not really like that. Usually it's because people say some random BS without any research and when they're confronted by more knowledgeable person, they blindly defend the BS that they neither understand nor put appropriate effort to verify it. So that's "why".

People are entitled to their opinion. Just because something is statistically weak and sucks at pvp but I enjoy it and feel like sharing it on the forums doesn't give someone the right to point out every reason my build sucks. lSNIP]

Opinions. We're allowed to have them. And until you and everyone else learn that, the Internet will not be safe.

However, you get an awesome for the end game content comment. XX

No one wants to hear that even if it's true.

And very often it's like: "5 is bigger number than 8". And then the other person comes and says: "No, that's just your opinion, because 8 is bigger number than 5". Facts are facts, opinions are opinions. It's best to befriend both of them.

I get that all the time. You build is crap because x isn't maxed or y isn't as much as my y or z could be 300 more, blah blah blah.

Then i go to Cyrodiil and have a couple of hours of fun killing them. They'll never understand ...

Not gonna lie, if I had to judge a game off its forum, I would say ESO has the worst playerbase. Lots of Elitist on here. Can't even mention playing on console without someone from PC jumping all over you about purchasing an "inferior" machine.

Well, yes, there is a certain.... "resentment" against console over here by the old guard but frankly a lot of us feel we were abused as year long paying beta testers for... the console version.

There were some updates, bugfixes along the way for PC but then nothing really new for over half a year and not even seriously bug fixing anymore since 1.6 - Z even admitted on here that they do not have resources/manpower to continue driving on all fronts and decided to focus solely on console only instead (that was somewhere around 1.6).

Then they announced that a monthly subscription is no longer required (the real reason for this was never openly admitted... however, we all know that console players are generally not used and willing to pay a monthly extra for a single game... so, again, one main reason for all that was most likely... console - again).
ESO from now on is to be financed by releasing repainted/reskined mounts and costumes (most of which were already in the game one way or the other) by means of the Clown Store; and frankly speaking that was a really big slap into the face of their involuntary beta testers. Who payed over 150USD extra for the "privilege" to play and foremost test the game for a year - and all the benefits from that now went to console for free (as in no more monthly subscription).

Of course everyone knows that this is not the console player's fault directly - however... we can not really bite the nose off of the real culprit (Z) on here so the next best thing as target for (at least some of) our resentment is the console crowd.
    Fair? Most certainly not.
But life is not fair... and Z told that lesson to PC players big time over the last year.

Console gets blamed for what, because we play on a console..Indirectly? How about non-directly. Wasn't our fault, I didn't force them to give you nothing for months. Plus we got a whole different game. And beta testing, welcome to an MMO..early players are always "beta testing.."

I don't come here often enough, mostly because I am too busy playing the game with my allotted time, the only time I do come here is when having my coffee break or something in the game just confuses me or my curious nature gets the better of me ;) but mostly to find out what's going on in the background of this wonderfully addictive game.

We all have opinions and it is very hard for any two people to often agree with each other, but it does happen, but when you have 100 or more opinions all in the same place, its best to just skip the discussion posts and just look for answers to the questions I have rather than get drawn into a spam fest of opinionated arguments which are all valid to a point that ultimately go in circles.

I love this game, it can make me feel exasperated at times but I have not yet played a game that has been a smooth ride. However I feel that the game in itself is brilliant, it's the gamers who can make things difficult and spoil the perfect session but that's just my opinion I accept the game for what it is and have no intention of trying to change it to how I want it, if that was the case I would want the Vampire and werewolf ability made quest oriented instead of this random style where gamers who now have this ability are spawn killing any found just so they can make money by offering to bite you!

I love this game and hope to be playing for a long time, just as long as the wife allows me.... ;)

Or perhaps you're really good at avoiding the bad stuff? Lol. I've seen many posts in response to the op telling them to play what's fun, but there are just as many people telling them that their build sucks.

So many debates and posts of what's better or what should I play. The irony of it is people want a unique experience but then all for a detailed template for what they should play. Either that or they complain because somebody has a set up that outclasses theirs.

    Oi! Stop!

These last few weeks I've seen these forums really take a nasty turn. I'm pointing no fingers but you all know who you are.

Please stop turning these forums into what they are becoming. A bit of a cess pit. Because people just have to troll or shout and scream.

Criticism should be made appropriately. Not by jumping on every thread and posting negativity all over everything. These forums used to be really helpful with good discussion. Let's get that back please.

3- I do like to debate and even  sometimes

Here's where I stand with trolling.

It has its place and function.

By that I mean when debating most people are quite fixed in their views on any given subject; in fact if you started a thread with the title: "What do you think about XYZ?" and then had a long opening post discussing the merits and flaws of XYZ 90%+ of people will have formed their opinion of XYZ just from the thread title.

And most people will continue to hold that opinion until you metaphorically slap them out of it. Trolling does that - it forces an emotional response that very often cuts through the self-imposed intellectual fog of cerebral obstinancy.

I know from my own experiences of debating on forums that it is often only when I am incensed at what someone has said that my mind "clears" itself long enough for me to re-evaluate my opinion.

There's also the flip side of that, the "enough rope gambit" - if you give a fool enough rope sooner or later they will hang themselves. Push people to uncomfortable corners of their intellectual platform and sooner or later they will falter.

Forum rules against "trolling" are there really to stop people having to think too hard about anything.
