bows are faulty

The bows are a let down for this game they don't measure up to the previous games. Trying to attack someone from a large distance doesn't work you get invisible barriers.

theres a max range... 35 or 40yr i think... you cant snipe someone at 1 mile away... its the same mechanics as mage spells in mmos...

Once you get better with the bow there are skills and passives that increase the range. But yes, there is a limit to how far you can shoot.

Just like any other ranged attack in the game has a limit ...

Yeah but after playing so much of previous elder scrolls it was a major let down. Guess they tried to make up for it with skills think I might level them up and see what it's like. Thanks for the replies

Will have to disagree. Bows are awesome as long as you hone your skills and passives. I am having so much fun with ranged strikes....enemies are down before they ever get a chance to get close for the most part. :)
    Give it a go. ;)
Young at heart. Slightly older in other places.
    PS4 player.
If everything was perfect there would be nothing to strive for.

There has to be a maximum range in MMOs, because all important calculations are done server-side, and the server needs to cater to all who play. In a single player game, your system's CPU power caters to one player alone, so it may go nuts on physics and might let you shoot and hit everything within visible range. I enjoyed being able to do this in Oblivion as well, but the ranges in ESO or other MMOs aren't that bad, either. You'll get used to it.

Not to mention that Snipe is kind of lame even in its state in PVP. If you could do a sneak shot form a distance comparable to Skyrim it would be just ridiculous.

Even then the bows are not that good I saw my friend shooting an enemy with a bow and the arrows went straight through him. Only allows you to shoot them if the enemy is highlighted in red

To the contrary, bows in this game (from a pvp perspective) are very strong (if compared to other DDs):

    - best (stamina based) damage sort to hit (no nirnhoned related problems, better armor peneteration than magic, generally higher damage as there are many light armor wearers, better synergies for Nbs, etc etc)
    - a heal debuff for free within the same skill
    - highest range of all spells in the game (pvp items, just a slight number, the pvp set bonus was nurfed from 5 to 2 meters, maybe because of the pvp-skills)
    - better itemization for weapon-dmg (if you have much money)
    - the arrow is not as spottable as other DDs (often you won't find the archer immediately)
    + + +
    - the guarantee that ZOS will never "really" nurf bow bacause they made it stronger peux-a-peux (too much to be written here: damage, cast-time, item sets, etc etc), while the little laughable nurf to damage from stealth did not change nothing.
    - you have pvp sets that give you a 10% proc chance for 600 weapon damage = you will notice many item sets, skills, CP, etc. etc., that synergize better with bow, AS the CP-passive that raises overall physical damage

This topic is too complicated and long (patches history, synergies) but bows are not faul, that is what I wanted to add. Add "foulness" damage and you will do a great job in pvp.

    @Francescolg what he said.

It's a mmo, remember that. But PvP wise, the bow is one of the best weapons and my favorite. Not faulty at all.

The was I complaint of mine too when I first started OP. In fact I made a thread about it. It takes time to adjust. The scaling in ESO is much different than other games. Bow might just be my favorite weapon now feel wise.
