No crossbows. They didn't even appear in the ES universe until Skyrim.
Spears/Polearms, sure. Also an Unarmed line. Not really sure what other options would be available though.

They were in as early as Battlespire - Get dunked.

Oblivion and Skyrim really dumbed down the game after Morrowind.
Late to the party here but they are actually in this game to.
First attack skill in the fighters guild uses a crossbow.

Hell, I'd even settle for a Destruction/Restoration "Glove" weapon for balancing purposes of fitting it in with the other weapons (As well as the option to just use two "Gloves" in the style of actually throwing Magicka around, none of this "Channeled from Staff" nonsense).

I don't understand why people would want hand to hand combat in a game like this. There's a reason why people made weapons; go and try punching someone wearing plate armor. In medieval combat, grappling was definitely a thing if they had a free hand, but having a weapon was absolutely necessary if you were fighting anyone who was competent.

They could add an offhand deal, like a focus or something. It could be like a crystal you hold, or simply invisible and the animation is like the spell cast animation from Skyrim.

I would like to see a support staff! SO I can run resto/support staff ^^ Healing and buffing. Of een Earth staff making a big earth shield from the ground to protect allies or Water staff surrounding ppl with water shields. Shielding them from spelldmg and heals over time. Or in 1 hand a waterstaff other hand fire staff doing both gives gas ball and skill when using groun aoe of both makes a big cloud that poison enemies and makes them blind for a few secs. Or earth and water staff doing ground aoe with both gives tiny plants or trees that heals allies and buffing them with major sorcery!

    Just some examples!

Yeah, I'd be good with an unarmed skill line.

Yeah, I'd be good with an unarmed skill line.

An unarmed skill line that can compete and do as much damage as one with a weapon? No thanks.
If you've ever played the single player games, hand to hand was always sub par compared to weapons, and with good reason.

We must have Spears and I know ZOS knows that a Spear weapon skill line belongs in ESO.

All of the other games are technically in a period of time after ESO takes place. Chances are, crossbows have yet to be invented (with exception to fighters guild skill).

Polearms, on the other hand, should definitely be a thing.

I also root for the use of weaponless fighting.
I would like to be able to use a single weapon with nothing in the off hand. The two-handed swords are just too large and slow. Something like a fencing line would be nice, where we could wield a single sword with more finesse.

This would be cool to see.

or perhaps more of an eastern style with a light sword and fast movements
    Gan Xing - Crafting Nightblade
    Elrana Tinuviel - Hybrid Dragonknight
    Elentári Peregrine - Sorcerer "bank"
    Rán Xīng - Hybrid Templar
    Laurïsil Imlachwen - Stamina Templar
    Helotë Tinuviel - Hybrid/Magicka Warden
    Odin banker - obv banker
Yan of the Red Mountain - lvl 3 DK - not sure when I will work on em

Seeks the unusual and unique playstyles...

Then what a perfect excuse for them to suddenly be in the game, someone invented them during the ESO timeline.
Visit an npc, he tells you he created a new ranged weapon based on the ballista being used in Cyrodiil and requests you test it for them, if you accept, bam, you now have your first crossbow and you unlock the crossbow skill tree.

They could even run with this sort of theme with other new weapon types, call it something like the "Advanced Weaponry Update", has a few new weapon types that are not unlocked from the start of the game and you have to go out to the npc to unlock them.
Would be another cool little thing you could go out and do to add to your skill repertoire, like joining one of the guilds or becoming a vampire/werewolf.

Though if they did it this way I wouldn't want the npc's to be to far to reach or for the weapons to take to long to get, maybe put them around the towns you start out but level lock them to level 20 or something, just another thing to look forward to after unlocking your second bar.
The NPC could say something like "I'm looking for someone a little more experienced" if you are not at the needed level.
Or something like that anyway, I'm not a game designer...

    Magicka:
    Scepters - Resto
    Ankh - Resto off-hand
    Wands - Destro
    Grimoire - Destro off-hand

Hardest part would be to classify the Scepter + Ankh or Wand+Grimoire as a single skill tree and not two separate ones.

    Stamina:
Spear - 1h version (still uses 1h tree)
Polearms - Slow like 2h but farther reach and attack radius (AoE specialist?)
    Unarmed - Fast single target
Crossbow - Slower but hard hitting.

It would be nice to see each weapon tree used for dps come with the following options:
    1. Basic attack
    2. AoE attack
    3. Gap Closer
    4. Active Buff
    5. CC attack

With this format we could mix and match weapons + class abilities to our liking.

I would love to see more classes or the game go to a true Elder Scroll feel and be classless but that's an entirely different game I fear.

I'd love more skill lines. Imagine hand-to-hand and unarmored!

I would especially love to see a skill line that focused on using a single one-handed weapon with things like fencing and "half-swording".
