Animation canceling: Heavy attacks are not working

Hey,

my pvp damage rota is animationcanceling with fire staff heavy attacks (not charged, just skipped as soon as possible) and Force Shock. Usually it works fine, but sometimes I am bugged so my heavy attacks don't come. I have to wait a second after my Force Shock, then I can cast an heavy attack. If I do my rotation like I am used - no heavy attack, just Force Shocks.

Does anyone have the same bug? Reloadui helps in my case.

Regards
Lorion

I have the bug with destro staff. It's almost as if the attack gets stuck on windup (as if my mouse was still pressed and preventing me from using abilities)

Maybe ZOS finally found a way to eliminate this cheesy tactic.

Oh wait, they ENCOURAGE people to be cheesy, that's right, I remember now.

What's your problem about Animation Cancelling? Everyone can use it and it's very easy to learn.

Canceling amination is a legal form of exploit. Countered by global cooldowns, but who cares..

    Arguments?

I am welcome to see your way to do maximum damace without canceled heavy attacks (looking at Igneous Weapons).

Animation canceling was introduced only to allow us to BLOCK when we need to, to survive. Just because few morons decided that's how the game should be played, all players have to comply? I don't think so.

I've already posted this several times, but I'll do it again: If you cancel an animation with BLOCK, whole attack should have been nullified as if it never happened. This way just screws heavy attacks into something unspeakably bad (only done if you're really in the need of resources, mostly by resto staff users), everyone else abuses animation canceling.

Do you know how many people left last summer because ZOS tried that "we know nothing about that, we're looking the other way" attitude? Too many. It forced them to go f2p.

Just because few % of minmaxers are happy abusing that, it doesn't mean it's a right thing to do.

Imagine it from the RP perspective. A mage doesn't have time to say whole incantation for a spell, so he just stops early and expect the spell to fire just with a little reduced damage? I don't think so. Same with Weapons. Yeah, please, try to draw bow to 2/3 and see how far the arrow will fly. It's just BULL*RAP.

I used to hate AC for the same reason. It's personally immersion breaking. Then everyone uses it, now I cancel my Wrecking Blow with Heavies and Light attacks and it's really a big difference, so I gave up and use it too (ESO too good to leave just because of AC).

BUT that's neither here nor there. The thread is about a bug that AC user is experiencing and asking if anyone seen the same thing. NOT about AC in this game as a whole.

Please keep your personal feelings and attacks (yes, calling people stupid is an attack) outside for now.

NOW, OP, I don't use staff (anymore) but I do experience since 1.6 that my AC is different. It requires longer animation before i can cancel it to get the full effect, but instead of zero effect, it does have SOME... as if the damage is now dependent of the animation period since the whole "new combat experience" update. I think my AC isn't as effective, but we all adjust to it. (different skills, different rotation, etc.)

And its 100% of the time, not occasion and reloadUI doesn't fix it...

    1. Interrupting not fully charged heavy attacks is not abusing anything, thes don't hit like fully charged (if it is not bugged and the heavy attacks charges full, but this happens just sometimes). The damage is scaling with the time you are charging this attack so it is intended to cancel this attack.
    2. Please explain me the use of potions, the weapon sweap and ofc the 100 swords in my bag from the RP-perspective. Thx.
