I really want to try a magicka build after I steal enough money for resets. However, I can't do the squishy light in PVP, especially with the siege buff. Would 5 Heavy Magnus or two Heavy Torugs (head, body or leg) work with with this build?
Also, how are you distributing your attributes and CP?

I've been playing something very similar since launch (slightly more healer/support based, but versatile based on the situation). As of 1.6 I've been switching back and forth between 5L/2h and 5h/2L in varying combinations of Resto + Destro, Resto + S&B, 2x Resto (Seducer is the main theme for everything). The best combination I've found seems to be 5l/2h w/ Resto + S&B. You lose the light attack weaving element, but gain so much defense via the shield & Absorb Magic. Heavy armor had been quite a letdown TBH...
Now, playstyle wise, if I could make it work I really prefer the idea of 2x Resto with 5 heavy/2 light but that Absorb and getting a few more blocks off per fight really seems to make the difference over that passive heavy armor mitigation. When you get down to it you can really spam cloak/fear/cripple so much harder with light armor while still having good defense with the shield. I'm to the point I may start experimenting with armor jewelry or a defensive set bonus (instead of magicka/spellpower related on) to try and get the best overall balance of defense and offense.
Please keep posting because the game needs good NBs doing what they do and sharing their knowledge, so NBs can discuss amongst themselves instead of looking over the fence at sorcs.
Tried a modified version of this last night. I'm not a dueler or a 1vXer but it seems to be working well with group play. Unfortunately, too lazy to re-roll into a race meant for magic (Kizzy is a redguard).
I don't have all the gear yet (had to sub warlock and light of cyro for 2 stendarr and 2 Grace of Ancients enchanted with spell damage) but I can see some potential even on my Redguard. Also went with the 5 Heavy setup because habits. I think I will try just 2 heavy and 5 light because 10% block cost reduction does not = 2000+ spell pen. Things need to die sooner rather than later.
I will say that I do miss my sword and board for bouncing back frags at annoying sorcs. Now, i really on harness magic. I'm also glad you left two swing slots open because teleport strike > fear is my bread and butter. Also liking the cripple, cloak and mirage. I can jump in and reasonably get out pretty well.
Stamina though. Sitting at less than 10000 takes getting used to.I tend to go with the Vr10 blue Health/Magic food but switched to Health/Stam. I may need to find that purple recipe.
Would love to see a vid of how you are using your set up.
It's also amazing how many lethal and venom arrows I notice coming my way now.

Fear not, my friend. I, too, am a Redguard and have been playing as a Magicka NB since shortly after beta. It has it's perks where stamina regen is concerned
I've been toying around with a slightly altered version of this (had been rolling with a Fire stick because Destructive Reach is just too much fun) and I am enjoying it so far. I, too, went for a 5h/2l set up last night but my regen was atrocious and the lack of penetration left something to be desired.
I'm not the expert but I personally went with all Health since I'm PVP focused. All armor has magic enchants. I don't put anything into stamina with this build. With the buff food health is between 28K and 30K (depending on the campaign buffs) Magic food gets my magic pool to around 20K with the 5H/2L setup. If I go with the stamina food magic is at around 17K and stam is around 13K.
And yeah, regen is an issue. I redid my CP and changed my mundus stone to Atronauch and it's just over 1100 magic regen. Stam is sitting at 900+. Health, well lets not talk about that.
I think as I get comfortable with the magic shields and absorbs I will put more attribute into magicka. But going for the even split kinda gimps all of your stats IMO.
Hopeully Mr. Platypus gets off that sorc crack soon. It's a dangerous, predictable and annoying drug.
