[1.6] If you want to be a Tank you need [... ]

STAMINA

You are obligated to wear Footsoldier and Histbark. End of discussion.

My friends keep telling me, that every Tank in SO is wearing this *** and in 1.6 its going to be even more mandatory, because its official: All dodge raitings are stacking properly in 1.6

I love beeing a tank and i love tanking.

I started as an Altmer Templar, then i played an Imperial Templar, because i hoped the Werewolf will be a playable class. Then, because i wanted to do some dmg, i played a DK.

End of Story: If you are a min/maxer, you will have to take imperial (or other tank- race).

Before yelling at me: Yes, you can play a bosmer-sorcerer Tank and survive.

Ah and you have to take heavy armor, but you have to go with light armor, because otherwise you suck at resource-management and tanking in general.

What was i saying? Ah yes... do you see the pattern?

What do i want?

- Cookies
- Make the other tanking sets viable too
- allow to reset and choose randomly: Race passives (lets call it "personality"). Everyone can deside for himself, what passives he needs.
- Implement a new race: Natural born Werewolf: Stamina class
- Circle of protection 1000 Spellresistance/Armor all the time
- Implement defensive food/potions (armor, spellresistance, dodgerating, dmg reflection).
- PVP: Since i need caltrops, i have to level all three twinks to lvl 10 pvp skill line. Shame on you
- I need to know, where the hardcap for amor and spellresistance is...
- I need [Insert more outragious wishes here]

That is what I always been wearing as armor.

My only gripe with the footman set is the damn trait: exploration.

I am still confused which trait to use, between impenetrable, infused and reinforced.

Someone did some tests and he concluded that Imp in 1.6 is better than reinforced for damage mitigation..

This was for pvp i presume

Honest question, what does a tank do in ESO?

Mostly what I've seen is the need for a good healer in a group and the rest focused on dps. Now a player with high survibilty certainly makes life easier on the healer, but players who can also chew through mob groups quickly make life even easier. Given cc imunities, and limited taunts, I can see a need for a hybrid role versus having a dedicated tank.

I ask having an experimental tank on my roster. I understand how to build the character, but not how to play them.

You could wear Cyrodiil's Ward and get the same 12% mitigation as Footman.... besides, Footman is really for classes that aren't DKs, because DKs already block an extra 10% damage from their passives. They don't need the Footman passives, i'd go with slotting Defensive Posture for the 8% mitigation and cost reduction then wearing a set to help do a little more damage.

I just read a thread where people tested Hist Bark and Major Evasion saying they DO NOT stack still in 1.6. Trying to find it...

Use jewelry and gloves for footman leaving the shield to be the only exploration trait this way if you switch bars you dont lose good traits. I do this with the sword being hist bark along with four other pieces and still working in malubeth head and shoulders. This works magic in pvp having all traits reinforced or divines and making sure you use magic taunt in pve. With that being said you stack stamina and reducing block mitigation and use magika abilities as utility.

That's it, thanks. As a NB, I Mirage is my best choice for dodge chance now because it doesn't eat Stamina and also adds Minor Armor/Spell Resist buffs. Combine that with casting Refreshing Path (or another Shadow ability) and I get Major Armor/Spell resist buff on top of that.

Was happy to see they fixed Footman's Shield drop in DSA. I've been using Unassailable shield to get 4pcs in that.

Lol thanks man I needed a good chuckle. Oh and I gotta giggle a bit about all the folks that still think Dodge actually stacks even though it's been proven not to.

i dont get this at all..

i can get by with almost nothing in stam on my bosmer DK.... he has 30k hp and around 11k stam... blocking is never a issue nor is casting poke or fire.... or GDB for that matter....

so really, why do i need stam out the ass?

i regenerate it faster than anything can actually take it from me. unless bosses like those in SO are doing 20x the cost to block normal hits its not going to affect my tank... a single mob my stam bar NEVER MOVES.

it makes more sense to me to stack up on regeneration instead of maxes... since if you regain it faster than you lose, how much you have will never be a issue...

I'm the same way as a Bosmer NB, I only have just a tad over 13K Stamina while tanking and have only a single Shield Play Glyph (the other 2 are Magicka cost reduction) and I have almost no issues with Stamina now. Granted this took a bit of tweaking once 1.6 hit Live, even after all the testing I did on PTS. My guess is the one 'testing it' uses nothing but Stamina abilities and does nothing but hold Block 24/7 while also not investing any points in Passives for Block nor the Champ System for the same and that's why he "needs" 24K Stamina with 3 cost reduction Glyphs (I gotta lol at that). Bad Tanks will be bad.

Same,i dont get why so much stam.I always have more magika than stam on my dk tank cause magika is what really going to keep ma alive in "oh ***"moments( GDB,dmg shields) my bars have more magika skills than stam. Also you can regenerate stam by doing some heavy attacks, you just need when to lower your shield and do some heeavy attacks.24k stam LOL.

I remember reading somewhere that the hard cap is 50% reduction which is at 35k armor/spell resists

I just laugh at this post, you insist that people MUST DO THIS OR YOU WILL FAIL. But I dont do that and I can still do all the content as a tank. Im a dunmer DK full heavy armor wearing 5 whitestrakes retribution 5footman (will only use 3 when I get last piece for engine guardian) and pact sword and shield. I use drinks rather then food and i use lord as my mundus stone. There are tons of viable builds, some better than others that is true but I like experimenting and I hate following the meta. I have been using what Im using now since the start of the game, with exception for footman which was not in the game at the start. Also footmans last bonus is not that good to be fair, it changes little. With it on though my total dmg mitigation lies around 82-85% depending on if its spell or physical dmg.

As a tank I put all my attributes into Hp and my enchantes do the same. I dont care about max magica or stamina, rather I focus on getting it back with recovery. My jewelry enchants are 2 block cost reduction and 1 stamina cost reduction. My typical skills for a boss on a vet dungeon is Pierce armor, hardened armor, deep slash, absorb magic and green dragon blood. So I dont have to do what you say we tanks need to, open your mind to new ideas.
