You still get them from Writs, did them on 3 characters last night 2 VR and one 20 something… and I got recipes from them, the newly named ones.

Yeah, it's patently obvious they want all of us to waste our time with the FABULOUS writ system. BIGGEST WASTE OF PLAYING TIME EVER. Yes, I tried it. It has no purpose or meaning, so now they give it one - waste an hour a day of your precious playing time or forget provisioning.

Yanno, I hate wasting time, even in a game. I hate it even more when I'm being forced to do it.

So has anyone found Frost Mirriam anywhere besides Hireling mail and Crafting Writs? I think it's kinda crazy that they would make one single ingredient so singularly important.

Unless I am mistaken, isn't it the only ingredient that is required in EVERY purple food in 1.6? That is going to put it in extremely high demand. Even more so than Tomatoes on the live server because you could still make purple buff food w/o tomatoes.

I've been on the PTS every day since it went live with 1.6 and my hirelings haven't brought me one single Frost Mirriam yet. I see this being a major issue. basically you cannot make ANY purple food w/o it. This stuff is going to be more valuable than gold.

Unless of course this is all according to plan so they can sell it on the Crown Store.

I'd say that last has probably hit the nail on the head.

As of last PTS version, only a handful of ingredients were available to purchase from the grocers. BIG CHANGE considering Justice system impact to looting for supplies.

As of last PTS version, those few ingredients you could purchase had their price skyrocket to 150g.

ZOS originally reassured us that our ingredients going "old" could be sold to vendors for the same amount as new ingredients could be purchased for.

Unable to test on PTS whether ingredients going old had their vendor value increase to match since we didn't get another character copy on the NA server after these changes. However, both of the above changes were clearly noted in patch notes with not a word about changes to old ingredient values.

Sooo....either ZOS quietly changed old ingredient values to 150g in the update and hoarders will now be rolling in gold or...........ZOS went back on their word about having parity between old and new ingredient pricing.

I know which I think it is. A few more hours and we will all know.

The thing to keep in mind is that in the "old" system, collecting giant piles of ingredients was very fast, had no risk, and was really a by-product of looking for pepper/motifs and recipies. This made food mostly ingredients worthless.

To convert to the new system, they had to "destroy" all the old crap. Yes, a lot of people lost stacks of ingredients. But they were pretty worthless stacks, despite what people were showing in addons.

Now ingredients will have more value (maybe) as it will take human thieving effort to collect them. So mats will be plentiful in the beginning while everyone levels Ledgermain. And in a while, it will only be the dedicated farmers getting it. So value should go up. Much like soul gems eventually did after people stopped farming bosses for levelling

My point was that we were told there would be equivalency between old ingredient value to sell to vendor and new ingredient cost. This is now not the case if they remain at 10g.

In addition, the availability of many ingredients was changed from vendor purchase to looting only.

I am not in this post arguing the pros or cons of making these changes - only that they are completely inconsistent with what we have been told previously.

And, not mentioning anywhere whether old ingredients would or would not change in value based on these promises is just plain, erm, don't want to get snipped here but you get the point.

Provisioning writs don't take an hour! There are 3 different writs, each requires a food and drink, just make some of each and keep them in your bag, walk to the board, pick up quest, walk to the turn-in. Done! Writs only use green food/drink which have the smallest ingredients lists (vs blue and purple).

In essence, Frost Mirriam is more available than two of the previous purple food mats (tomato, oats) which were only available from Hireling mail. Pepper always seemed to be an oversight to me, why have one purple ingredient available in barrels/sacks while the others were hireling only. (I believe blue food will still be superior for the magicka or stamina focused builds anyways).

The writs are fast only if you have the recipes already! Someone starting from scratch is in a different boat. To do my writ yesterday I had to travel to 6 different locations and check 20+ guild vendors to find the 2 recipes I needed. How long do you think that took? And since I've been around a while I'm not really starting from scratch (I have plenty of gold so I can pay whatever the recipe costs).
