1.6.2 - A new issue with cloak [Video]

In testing on the PTS we have discovered a new issue with cloak. The new animation is so fast that any ranged ability animation canceled into cloak will land after the the cloak and break it.

Ex: bow light/heavy attack > cloak. Breaks every time.

You are forced to wait a split second before hitting cloak to prevent it from breaking instantly. For players who have have been animation canceling everything for a year now, forcing yourself not to is extremely hard, especially in hectic situations.

This needs to be changed so that abilities used before cloak do not break cloak.

    Cute.

    What class do you play? Imagine if animation canceling blazing shield made the shield not work (and still cost magicka) unless you waited a split second. Try the same for streak, or scales, or ward, or....anything.

    Skills should reliably work when you use them. Anyone have any non-troll opinions or feedback?

    This is similar to the bug with snipe I've been fighting for who knows how long. You fire snipe at a target, weapon swap to a different weapon before the arrow reaches it's target, and the snipe will deal no damage (because you're no longer wielding a bow).

    This game's ability resolution sucks.

    So... you shoot an arrow before using cloak(or whatever that was), you then use cloak, but have it break when the attack hits the enemy?

    that has been going on for quite some time now, and is not an issue with the ability. Shoot your ranged ability, wait for it to hit, THEN use cloak. After that its a matter of hoping it does not break on you for no reason.

    I'm sorry you aren't able to fire an arrow, swap weapons, teleport to the target, stab them in the neck 10 times with a butterknife, teleport back to where you were, and eat a ham sandwich before the arrow hits.

    It still breaks from projectile and charges too. Our hallmark ability is more or less situational use only...

    Anyone know the proper @ZOS name for Erick feel free to quote and use...

    It does not break if you do this in 1.5, this is a new thing that only started in 1.6.2. I'd argue that I should be able to use any action I wish BEFORE using cloak and not have it break.

    no i recall it happening to me quite a bit in wabbajack, and at least a few times in haderus.

    cloak needs fixing though, that is true.

    I have a suggestion. Make the ability a toggle, like any MMO cloak and drop combat and instantly enter sneak, and make it unbreakable by anything other than AoE and the new flare ability, or detection potions.

    Cloak I - Drains 1000 Magic every 1 second. Magicka regen is stopped.
    Cloak II - Drains 750 Magic every 1 second. Magicka regen is stopped.
    Cloak III - Drains 500 Magic every 1 second. Magicka regen is stopped.
    Cloak IV - Drains 500 Magic every 1 second. Magicka regen is 25% of total.


    PTS numbers btw... I know 1k magic drain on live would be killer.

    Or just you know... Fix the ability. Period. :disappointed:

    With magicka at 35k, you are saying NBs should have 70 seconds guaranteed stealth. It's actually not a bad idea, but the magicka per second would have to be much higher.
