Looks like Deltia's Gaming agrees with you that magicka sorcs must use pets.He's not tested stamina sorcs yet.Unless you're a Sorcerer. Then you play with Pets and all-magicka builds.

I haven't been particularly impressed with Stam sorc in 1.6. Lack of a decent heal is troubling with the changes to critical surge, and Sorc received no stamina morphs to any of their class skills. Right now if feels like if I want to run a stam build, I'm better with any of the other classes simply because there are no Sorcerer class skills to really incorporate into the build.
Granted, I'm not half the player some of the real theory crafters are, so we'll see. But right now it doesn't look good for anything besides Destro/Resto Magicka pet builds.

Feidam✭✭✭I switch my sorc to bow today to see if I can pull off a stamina ranged build. I'm not a melee person. But so far the build isn't bad, but not awesome either. Only my first iteration though.0 -

Gotta watch Sabre Ali. He rolls around wrecking kids with a 2h Main. I don't have any real videos of him but you can watch at 5:09 of this video by Teargrants (a magicka sorcerer) where Sabre has Teargrants on the defensive for much of the fight.

Dazin93✭✭✭✭I just don't see stamina sorcs as being viable builds after 1.6
Hardened ward is too weak as it scales off of base magicka. As a stamina build its around a 4500 hp shield and costs 3800ish magicka to use.
Crit surge isn't worth having on the bar due to the 1 sec delay and continued lack of being a reliable class heal.
Streak is still costly and harder to use offensively as the stun breaks now as soon as they receive damage.
Pets are pitiful as a stamina build and hit on average for around 400 damage or equivalent to 40 damage on live.
Dark exchange is still a channeled skill.
Can you slap a bow and 2h on sorc and find moderate success? Yes you can, but that is only due to weapon skills and abilities from other trees that everyone has access to. You are bringing nothing unique to the table as a stamina sorc other than streak.
You don't have a viable shield, you don't have a reliable class heal, and you don't have the ability to sustain resources. So in other words, it's burst or die and in 1.6 it's going to be mostly die with shield stacking/resto staff becoming even more prevalent.
I am sure magicka based (resto staff/shield stacking, crushing shock/pet) sorcs will be quite viable if that's how you enjoy playing. I for one do not.0
