Unstable Core in 1.6

Yes, there are thread about Templar changes in Update 1.6 that include a review of Eclipse and its morphs. I've participated in many of them. I am curious though what kind of damage you are getting when someone breaks it if you have decided to test it.

Earlier with a volunteer and a low crit rating (not sure that ability even crits) I got 1600-something once and upper 1900s three times. At that point my tooltip expected damage sans modifiers was 1604.

This evening I tried it in an actual fight just for fun (using Radiant Magelight) and with an expected tooltip damage of 1695 got it to pop for 2264. I know those aren't huge numbers but I'm curious what others are getting. A larger sampling of those numbers might help make a case for reassessing the value of the "explosion" on Cleanse or CC break.

Also, what kind of damage range would it take to make you hesitate before breaking out of it? Not because you are afraid it might be fatal (unless you are at really low health) but because of the disadvantage it might place you in or the degree of vulnerability it might introduce? 1500-2500? 2000-3000? 2500-3500? More? (FYI you can't just spam it and get the highest possible damage because of crowd control immunity.)

Thanks.

    Thanks.

I don't CC break it on my DK unless it's from a Mage Guard NPC, the player ability is only useful in certain situations, and only useful if the person you're using it on isn't a DK. I don't use projectiles so as a DK if they hit me with one, and I reflect it, it does a yoyo, and by the time it gets back to me I've dodge rolled or the effect has ended and it does no damage. I dodge roll alot as a Light Armor DK, so Eclipse is meh.... As a DK.

As other classes I run immovable as much as possible and CC break everything.

My two cents anyways, the dmg would have to be 30-50% of my total HP for me to hesitate, and it's only roughly 5-10%

Thanks for the reply, @Panda244‌ .

I think I would think about or possibly hesitate breaking it at 15-20% of Max Health, which on my Argonian Templar, imported without changes to the PTS and using a purple food buff, would be 4006 to 5342 out of 26709. But 26709 might not be the average Max Health stat in 1.6 scoring for all active characters, so I guess I would support 15-20% of whatever that average is.

(Just a bit of a random fyi, the damage done by Volatile Armor counts as a spell projectile, at least pre-1.6. Not really worth worrying about for Eclipse or its morphs, though.)

Lawl really? Hahaha, never knew that... I use the other morph, and rarely, but that's funny... The ability costs so little you could kill yourself if you spammed it in eclipse :p

The general average of HP in 1.6 seems to be 25-27k though.

The ability has a delay, and way to CC break it so it doesn't deal dmg. So I fully support it being able to whack someone for a large amount.

I would consider not breaking it if breaking it added a stamina/magicka/health debuff or stunned.

^That would be perfect along with slight damage increase. If you break it, all your regen rates get a penalty. Sounds nice

Yeah adding a resource regen debuff and/or stun is nice. I would take that.

Or, given that it's supposed to explode on Cleanse/Break, stun the target for 3 seconds and knockdown nearby enemies. That I would most certainly use.
