B2P - Crown's Affect on the Champion System

As we already know, champion points are granted by xp earned and today it was announced that ESO will be offering XP boosts in their cash shop. Will the XP bonuses only affect players lv49 and below or will these XP bonuses help accrue champion points faster?

If that's the case then this is an unfortunate cut and dry pay to win scheme. Please clarify and let us know that this is not the case. I have faith that ZOS wouldn't make this huge mistake.

Can you clarify this at all? Thanks in advance.

That is an interesting point... I wonder if perhaps the Champion Points will be gained based on your "raw" XP rather than your "boosted" XP. That's the only way to make this fair (especially considering Enlightenment applies a CP boost anyway).

10% more Champion Points gained yes. Don't think this is pay to win, specialy knowing how Champion Points work.

This. The value of CPs will diminish the more you have. 0,1% higher stats are not exactly p2w.

This is clear as day pay to win mechanic. I will be using it if I continue to play but that does not make it "not-pay-to-win". Xp boosts don't matter if the level cap is low and can be reached within days but it turns pay to win when there is endless progression at the table.

Or rather the xp bonus only applies lv1-49. That would make sense to me imo.

You know it doesn't really matter Because they're going to realize that people will be willing to pay for champion Points So I'm sure those will be added to the Crown store soon enough.
That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

As a subscriber you will get a 10% XP bonus no worries for you. If you want the game for free..... you will have to buy the boost. It's not a pay to win, nothing is free. If you want a boost, subscribe or buy the potions. I'm not happy about the transition but pay to win would be having the ability to buy full VR 14 legendary gear from the crown store, buying a weapon or armor set only found in a trial etc.

This is ridiculous, subscribe to get the boost or don't and buy the potions. You both have options.

yup and wait till they get really greedy and that veteran gear and champion points end up in the Crown store.

Seriously, though, I don't understand why some people think that faster progression = pay to win.

Pay-to-win has nothing to do with that. You'll get to that point of progression sometime anyway, so it doesn't really affect other players per-se.

Pay-to-win is more like... buying gear and items that are exclusive to the cash shop and better than the stuff ingame, buying damage and defence boosts that give you an edge in PvP + lockboxes and that kind of stuff..

People need to stop abusing the term...

Ok. Let me explain it in a manner that doesn't use vulgar words like pay to win.

Do you not think that these xp bonuses will be offered a la carte? What happens if these bonuses stack with the rings of mara? So the paid advantages goes from 10% to 20% to 30%.

Regardless of your stance this is a good topic just in general because it could bring up other indirect scenarios.

    Note:
Not even sure how the rings of mara affect the game anymore after the VP->XP conversion. I haven't tested it to see if it affects lv50++ since I'd rather earn my xp or xp bonuses for example Cyrodiil home keep bonus. Maybe I'll hook up with a buddy tonight and test it out. Bow-Chicka-Bow-Wow

Yeah, I agree it shouldn't be possible to reach ridiculous boost percentages.

10% isn't that much though. It's a gesture of appreciation for subscribers and adding something to the subscription that makes it worthwhile. At the same time, 10% isn't that much, so it won't produce crazy differences.

Greed isn't the driving force in that decision, it is stupidity. Games either add it at the start or don't add it from my personal experience. I think ZOS knows better and won't be adding that stuff in even for a couple of bucks....

SWTOR and GW2 as far as I can remember never had any items with insane stats that could be bought.

Rift on the other hand had decent items you could purchase which was a major turn off.

With a subscriptions, you get the bonus included, if you want the game for Free you cannot expect to have all the nice things that people pay for. Period.

The bonuses should not be stat altering. Sure, xp bonuses are an awesome incentive for subscriptions if it's lv1-49 because it won't necessarily affect end game competition via champ point accrual.

Thank you for further edifying my point on the subject though.

That's a much better way of putting it. I agree that the XP boost should only apply to Lvl 1-49.
