A Copy/Paste of my comment on Reddit thread on possible expansions...ideas.

HOUSING! Often I have thought about what would ESO be packaging in a Expansion. Every time I think about it one thing keeps coming to mind. At no point since launch, with all the updated content and all the content to come, has Zenimax shown any evidence of working towards a official ExpansionPack.

Time and time again they just release content that in some games might/would be included in a official Expansion. Then it hit me last week while at work thinking about my favorite game. (Sorry, doesn't everyone do this while at work?)

I think a housing Expansion pack would fit perfectly with ZoS's update history in ESO...Continue pumping out content patches of great game changing quality like they have been/and will do...and offer a housing system (to be proud of-their words!) as a paid expansion...stick with me...

It should be paid for a couple of reasons.
1.A ton of time would go into it to do it Justice(see what I did there!)
2.A portion, maybe larger than I think it would be, see no value in housing and wouldn't want content patches 'wasted' on it and therefore wouldn't feel obligate to purchase it. No loss to them, others would definitely buy it.

ONE IDEA Daedric Realm Housing, I think a housing system would have to be instanced. Roll out some cool, unique and outright odd Daedric Landmasses to place all of our awesome houses on. Have some sort of monthly land tax. Removal of unsubscribed players and plots after a certain amount of time away from game to keep the instances from become dead spaces.
Re-sub players would find their house loot in the mail on re-sub.
Anyways, HOUSING!

TLDR: Housing would be a perfect expansion pack as some players would just skip that system and would not need to buy it to stay competitive.

I like it, but let the devs fix everything that needs addressing before we get houses.

Yes I completely agree, I see housing as a fall 2015 thing if even that early. I couldn't agree more with you.

Also with all to come, more stuff needing fixing between now and #housing.

I don't like an idea of monthly tax. In oblivion pockets we all can have houses. No need of taxes. But it's nice idea to have personal house in oblivion pocket with interesting view outside.

If and when they implement player housing, I can guarantee you there will be some kind of tax, or weekly or monthly cost involved. It will be a gold sink, just like horses are.

The only 'need' of a tax is because of the very reality of a sub game, people come people leave. Sometimes, often even, they return...but it might not be for ages til some patch hits where they go "That's all me!" and resub.

If you don't put eviction rights in the system, no matter how you shake it only one thing can happen...dead desolate housing servers. I mean I am of course envisioning a system with large lands masses where several, maybe hundreds of houses would be placed/lived in by players. So if such a landmass with multiple plots were introduced, to not have a tax and evictions would over time work out to be houses sitting there without there accounts active...dead zone.

Unless you were referring to single plot instances. To me that seems very antiMMO.

I'm all for pockets of oblivion, but no tracts of housing in some daedric realm. A player house would be a place to display trophies, maybe setup crafting stations etc. Every facet of the game doesn't need to be social.

I would also like the same option available for guilds, with some placable plots that serve different purposes. Housing is one of my biggest wants in the game, so I hope they get to it after they've gotten things smoothed out.

Well, you don't have any tax for your horse. Now it's buy to use. It could be not a problem for no-lifers and maybe any high-level players, but IMO for most casuals it will be too hard. The best option is to buy upgrades to your house like you level your horse.

No, to a monthly tax, but yes to removing unsubbed players after a set period.

If you want cash sinks involved, just offer decorations for sale. New decorations overwrite the old (ie delete them), and offer a range of styles for our decorations.

Maybe we want Armour Manikins and weapon Racks, or perhaps we want comfortable chairs and Bookshelves (only show books we've read). or maybe we will fill it with display cabinets for our items. (as a safety measure if we redecorate, anything stored in the furniture is shoved into a chest for a limited period)

    uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Planes_of_Oblivion

Oblivion contains all the dimensional planes which are home to the Daedra, and can be divided into the sixteen realms of the Daedric Princes, and over 37,000 other chaos realms and pocket realities. The sixteen realms of the Daedric Princes, referred to by the general term Planes of Oblivion, can be very extensive; Molag Bal's plane is described as being a replica of all of Nirn, and Hermaeus Mora's is infinite in size.

    (*)
37,000+ Realms and possibly infinite in size...yea housing could totally fit there.

Where they get that number? Can't find any source or math.

Anyway, it perfectly fits the lore and there is enough space for everyone.

I like that idea very much. If your sub'd it would be great if your house is 'safe'

BUT with a tax/monthly fee you could be allowed in the system to pay X-months ahead of time. So maybe you could in the system pay for 6 months rent max.

Example-if you knew for instance RL was not going to cooperate with your play time for a long enough period it would be wise to unsub. Some people have offshore jobs, military or other highly time consuming jobs that take them away from the internet for months at a time.
