Enchanting - the most useless profession

    Some Fire resist and such should be on armor as well.

    In every other ES game. There were only specific enchants that could be only on jewelry. Everything else armor and jewelry shared. Here it feels really backwards.

    It will be balanced around only having so many resist glyphs. Single player games don't need to worry about balance; you are as a god if that's how you choose to play.

    While I agree its difficult and the slowest to level, I disagree about it being useless. Save those trash white jewellery and enchant it. Helps having 1000 fire resist on one as a vamp!

    I filled up an entire mule alt with provisioning supplies by level 13 then decided I would never want to do provisioning and sold it all for maybe 5 gold.

    Provisioning is designed a lot differently than enchanting though. You can level this craft up steadily and efficiently simply by crafting a single recipe over and over. There is no need to discover new ingredient combinations every time you want to visibly move the experience bar.

    As an example: provisioning is by far my highest level craft. Yet is has never taken up more than 4 or 5 spaces in my inventory at once. All I had to do was concentrate on picking up the ingredients for the food I was currently using and stick to cooking that.

    Enchanting however almost demands that you discover new rune combinations to get experience. Crafting the same enchantment over and over gives you next to nothing. So it nearly forces you to hoard every single rune you come across so you can mix and match it with different levels and types of runes.

    If it wasn't for the fact I like the weapon enchants it provides I would have given this craft up a long time ago. It demands a lot, but doesn't give a lot back in return. Least not in my humble opinion.

    the way it works now automatically balances it. Placing a glyph on armor peices do not give the full values unless on chest and pants. Placing the glyph one gloves or helmets give it significant lower value.

    So if you were to enchant your whole set with fire resist. You'd get around just a little over the same value as you would with just a ring for instance.

    And all stats are hard capped. Even in the single player games, So theres that too.

    Enchanting isn't so bad and its obvious that they aren't done with it yet, with Jewelry and such. I just hope they find other tie ins with it to make it even more worth the grind.

    For me, the problem is NOT that you have only 3 pieces of jewelry.
    The real problem is that any set jewelry (which is FAR superior to other drops) cannot be enchanted.
    I was furious when I realized I can't enchant my Warlock jewelry set. Especially when each of them has 11 magicka regen, while just ONE puts you on cap already. Totally, really tarded.
    Let us at least enchant jewelry if you force all useful stats in it.

    Currently enchanting is only used to mass produce armor glyphs and a few weapon ones, occasionally a fire resist glyph for a fellow vampire who doesn't like 50% weakness and would rather sacrifice one enchant to reduce it to 25%.

    so much useless... that some of the best jewelry in the game is droppen NOT ENCHANTED!

    yes it's not the best craft during leveling (actualy with how hard it is to rise it you will probably never be able to craft your own enchant after level 20...) but it's probably one of the most important craft at VR10... since Dropped set from dungeon all come without enchantment... both armor and jewels... and you really don't want to put a vendo "white" enchant on those item ;)

    I have found that that in my experience (I think my enchanting has hit lvl 9 now, funny enough higher then my Black smithing XD) is that you are carrying a lot of runes until you have research most of the middle ones (forgot the name, they are 2nd placement in the sequence of 3), keeping in mind I didn't know putting a point into enchanting was the +1 improvement (noob lawl) however once you have most of those researched you can get rid of any 2 or lower stacks you have and use them to research the 1st and 3rd placements.

    Personally I found that leveling enchantment from 1 - 10 is more of a R&D then trying to added them to anything. Though I just did recently make (with the help of enchantments) a set of lvl 24 daggers that were equivalent to daggers looted (going with dagger of frost green as reference).

    Off topic - Isn't the Enchanter vendor in Dagger fall main city *** Camilla from Skyrim that you can *** marry? Dude it's like some cross game, series meta, midfucking, wtfness right there man.

    I don't think increasing damage, protection and reducing spell cost is useless at all. In fact it could be argued that Enchanting is OP'd. After all, it is through enchantments that one can overcharge an attribute without ever investing a single level into it.

    Sure it is a grindfest to level, which I don't like doing as grinding/farming makes me feel... dirty.As if I'm cheating the system but alas it is necessary if you are to keep up with or edge ahead of the drop levels.

    I agree with the OP. By level 25 I had decided that enchanting in this version of Elder Scrolls is bunk. The runes are slot slugs and the value of the enchantment is still in question in my mind. On my weaps I am not sure that I actually get the damage add that the chant says it grants. I have done some wild testing and at level 35 went on quests with only simple cotton pants (bashful) and white weaps (no chants) that I made. I leveled to 36 and really didn't see much difference in kills.

    "Enchanting is completely useless." Right...

    I just made a new set of gear for my VR4 Templar Tank/off healer. Purple weapons, blue armor, crafted sets, 5 heavy, 2 medium. All the glyphs were V3-V5 potency, either purple or blue.

    7 major magicka glyphs,
    1 major magicka damage + magicka leech weapon glyph (for a staff),
    one major health glyph (for a shield),
    2 major potion-boost glyphs (neck, ring) (which together effectively DOUBLE the base value of all potions -- and I use a lot of them),
    one weapon damage boost glyph (ring).
    Oh, and a stamina leech glyph for my axe. Stacks with the new stamina return.

    My Enchanter is a level 26 character, and Enchanting is level 28. I got him there by deconstructing all found glyphs and making glyphs with any runes I don't know. That's it.

    Useless? No.
    Difficult? No.
    Time consuming? No.
    Essential? YES.

    It levels slowly, but you don't need to level fast. You can make important, powerful, and useful glyphs long before you reach level 50.

    I understand that people have a variety of views on this, and that one can approach Enchanting in a number of ways. This is just the road I've taken, and I find that it provides a lot of utility for me. I can say the same for all the other crafting professions, all of which I have at level 50. I started enchanting late... :wink:

    Once it is mastered it is great .... first u can refine ur char to hit all soft caps with your armor and use jewelry to either fix ur weaknesses or boost one area.... me its spell cost and i some times boost Health recovery. i was having a hard time finding jewelry, but i finally just went to some guild traders and got some good purple/blue at my level i can enchant.

    do web search on leveling it efficiently ... its not that hard once u get it going. IF YOU LEVEL IT INEFFICIENTLY it will take forever.

    I do agree that it would be nice if we could put a larger variety of enchants on armor.

    At least they put it in the game themselves to allow equipping a ring on each hand. God forbid we have to download an addon to do it...


    But I will add that I too think enchantments should be placeable in more spots. Also that the power of green, blue, purple and gold enchants should scale higher from white than they currently do. A lot of enchants are like "why should I even bother going higher than green with this". And those are like putting an enchant on your boots or gloves where you know they will not get the full effect of the enchant, and for what reason they do this I would like to know. Or like going from purple to gold is like 2 points of something and im like man waste of a gold.

    I agree with this statement. I have one alt that just holds my provisioning mats. He is always between 140-160 items in his bag. When I get close to 160 (his limit) I put 20 or so stacks of 100 mats for sale in the guild stores. The alt that holds the alchemy items only uses about 60 slots.
