Screen freeze

EDIT: Solved, below system requirements lol!
since launch I was encountering sudden jumps of my CPU from 45%-55% to suddenly over 100% with a complete screen freeze of my computer that affects not just ESO but everything and lasts almost always about five seconds.
Activity monitor freezes too, so I don't know what's going on during the five seconds, but when the freezing ends it shows ESO is using over 160% of my CPU before it goes back to the usual 50%.
It's now happening every few seconds in a city or in cyrodiil, making the game almost unplayable.
I tried setting SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads and RequestJobThreads both to "0" with no visible result. Repairing the game did not yield a result either and setting the graphics to minimum didn't stop the madness, I still get freezes but didn't test extensively whether they come in rarer numbers.
As a bonus, now sometimes the freeze seems to last forever and I had to force restart my computer three times today after waiting a min for it to unfreeze.
About my mac:
Processor 2,66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics card ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
Serial number VM822Q1PZE6
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)

✭✭Hi @Cuddlecalf,
your Mac, especially the graphics card, is below the minimum system requirements to run ESO.
As this support article states, regular freezes may occur if the system is at the minimum specs. The advice given there might be helpful, but I suspect that you're running the game already at the lowest possible settings.
While every system would profit from more RAM, your machine is an early 2008 aluminium iMac, which is officially limited to 4 GB (some sources claim it may take 6 GB in a 4 + 2 GB DIMM configuration, but there is no guarantee that it's stable). The real limiting factor is the GC anyway, since it cannot be upgraded.
