Crafted sets worth the effort ? ( opinion )

    I've always said that player crafted gear should be the top quality of the game, with the exception of (rare) divine artifacts of power. These should not be drops to be farmed for but rather quested for. Very long solo quests so that only dedicated players can achieve them. Maybe also add a timed element and a qualifying factor (i.e. must be a lvl 50 smith). Also make the items bindable (don't want them out on the market ;-) )

    Another thing to answer to a comment earlier regarding what a crafting skill boils down to (i.e. standing in front of a table or anvil continuously clicking "R"), maybe at some point in the distant future they could look at expanding this to add other materials where certain combinations of certain volumes of an ingredient causes certain benefits/defects to occur. Just a thought for devs to expand on.

    I've never agreed that crafters should be able to create the absolute best armor or weapons in the game. I do agree that time devoted should equal the reward but feel that adventuring takes more time than crafting. Most of the dropped sets that you mentioned are not easy to obtain and take many, many runs to get the pieces (if you ever get them).

    Seriously, leveling crafting other than enchanting can be done as an afterthought. The "skill" to crafting involves standing in front of a crafting station and hitting "R" a couple hundred times. The time it takes to research traits involves nothing more than waiting for one to finish before starting another. You get free mats simply by putting a few points in a hireling.

    If you look at it from a risk/reward standpoint or even the amount of effort involved, than crafting should never match dropped sets.

    Having said that, most people are running with crafted sets. Even the people that manage to get the rare 5 piece dropped sets still craft 3 piece sets.

    I completely disagree with you. Just my 2 cents.

    I suppose it depends on what sort of character you've built and whether a particular crafted set adds anything to it. My Khajiit Nightblade doesn't have a huge amount of health but I have passives that increase health regen. whilst in combat and use blood craze (dual wielding morph.) and assassin's blade to leech more health whilst in combat and killing; a full set of Vampire's Kiss (5 trait) medium armour really adds to this approach for me and can be added to with a couple of pieces of Song of the Lamae which also adds to health regen.
