It's kinda surprising and also refreshing to see many elders playing video game.
I wish my dear granny was healthier and even lived longer so she could join me in video game like some of you guys are doing.
I think video game helps keep your mind sharp which would be great to keep alzheimer at bay.
anyways, continue with your journey in Tamriel, live long and prosper...?

Born in 1971...I am so old I remember when I had a video game that you had to load in (and it took HOURS) via CASSETTE TAPE!!

They were still using them up to the early 80's :)

I bought a VIC-20 in 1983 at the age of 14 with money I made training at a cadet camp. I was able to afford the tape drive, with it too, for all the good that did. Most of those "Play BASIC Games" books were screwed and had typos or something.

    27 as of last month.

Just went to a family gathering couple of days ago, and met some relatives I had no clue who they were, and for some reason they were poking around for my age, and guessed I was 20.

Man, that made my day. Nice to look 7 years younger than I actually am, and the sad part is, they said that with my beard and everything. Now if I only shaved I wonder...

I read an article a few years ago where they said the average age of WoW players was around 50 yrs old and around 36 or 37 for consoles. If this is still true then it would explain game devs decision to nerf difficulty because they cater to the demographics.

Of course, when I was in high school and college I did all my research in the library and typed papers on a Brother word processor. My first PC game was Leisure suit Larry and the Land of the Lounge Lizards. The internet required a specific address with no pictures all viewed on a 300lbs, 13in monochrome screen.

I think one of the reasons WoW and similar games are so popular with mature players (sounds better then saying old) is the social aspect and a way for those of us who can remember when MTV was just music videos, that gaming is a great way to ease into new technology and learn to use it and connect with people. Well, that and @ 44 I have a hell of a lot more time and money to spend on gaming and actual hobbies then I did in my 20s. I currently have active subs for ESO, Defiance, Wildstar and soon Destiny, besides a few $15 a month subs is still cheaper then a mid-life crisis corvette.

You only say that because you didn't grow up in the 80s.

I was born in 82, so at least I got to see the 80's. Had my hair waffled every day, and used to hide a cherry flavored lip gloss in my backpack that my best friends big sister gave me. She was supercool and 17 and had pink hair.

And yes, experiencing the 80's from a teenagers point of view must have been pure awesomeness. :))

Erh... no! All that bouffant hair, big shoulders and new romantics!

On a plus note, at least there was Nirvana and G'n'R towards the end of the decade... :)

    "Waffled" hair? Feathered?

I've taken up doing my own hair, because hairdressers nowadays just don't "get it" when it comes to feathering. It'll take months to get it just so, but at least I know _I_ won't mistake "feathering" for to mean "kd lang butch haircut".

Reading helps too, so those of us oldsters who read a lot before we got sucked into computers should do just fine.

I'll be 56 tomorrow. Been playing PC games since '95', Duke Nukem 3D, Doom II, Quake. Played numerous other over the years but those were my Favorites. Played DOAC for about 3 years, WOW for about a year and a half. Wife and I played Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney)For about a year, that was really nice playing together. Then she found Age of Conan. We played that for 5 years.. Now were on to Elder Scrolls online and never experienced any of the previous single player releases and having a good time with this..My Son however (32) has played most of the single player and has joined us in ESO..

Actually, there are way more 18-25 year-old players than I would have thought. Makes my cusp-of-gen-x 34 feel all the more antique.
